  1. Beaue pen yang ! Don't get upset it is Christmas time. Let's see if we can come together in MahaSarakam in middle of February and try to meet Kimamey and listen to his experiences so far. It could be nice being welcomed by the expat community here. I think he will do.

I will come, Who can organize ?

A other great restaurant in Sarakham ( I find)" Gai'-yang or big cock (roasting Chicking)

Close from the city hall, relax and sitting out site excellent food ( thai)

    Have a good Xmas

    Merry Xmas to you all

  2. I am just trying to help someone that has never been to Thailand before and in as much I am trying to be honest.

Do you think it would have been better if I had said that once I got to the village I just kicked back in absolute luxury and enjoyed the feeling and I would recomend it to people of all ages and walks of life?

It does not suit all people and some would find it very hard going ( please read some of the previous posts )

    Whauww help someone :o

    You really know Thailand :D

maybe you look around first with open eyes and learn something or stay in absolute luxury

It does not suit all people and some would find it very hard going ( please read some of the previous posts )

They better stay home behind the flowers

  3. PS Putu - did you ever cycle to Khon Kaen? I did a few years ago (actually KK to MSK) and it took just over 6 hours into a headwind for much the way. Bloody killer!

Oepsss No.... never, I prefer to swim :D Or use my power Kite ( only wind in the wrong direction)

You have done that?? :o maybe ready to do the Tour the France and beat Lance :D

I think Santa knows all farang so he can not miss our house (maybe he can bring some snow to :D

And......Nice to see your funny way of writing.

Idea.... why not organize a dinner with farang in Mahasarakham?

  4. [quote ..

Surely you don't want to deny him that "great white adventurer" feeling you had? Now you've been a whole 3 times to a village and have conquered Isaan, seen the fried insects and heard the cock crow at 5.00 am, I guess there's no point another farang repeating your epic journey, eh?

Agree with Placon , Vegamite has to learn the great feeling you can have to live in the country-site :wai:

    My story.

and some more Idea’s how it can be.

We ( my wife my son 14 and me) live now for sometime in Mahasarakham and I have to say we are happy to live in this part of Thailand.

Before we had rented a house in Khonkaen, but after all is was to expensive. :D

(My wife is working in Mahasarakham)

Important also a good school for my son, Mahasarakham is know as the school city of Isan, we find for him a English program where he get a good education for about 34000 bath ( year) ( 8 farang Teachers)

    :P

The house we rented (3000 bth/month) is in Wengnan, I think we are very lucky, the house have living/2 bedroom/big kitchen/big bathroom with bath./AC

It is a matter of looking around :D

The next neighbours lives about 100 mtr. Away. I have a hobby (Sunbirds) , look around on the website

    www.sunbirds.synthasite.com

so never we are bored. Anyhow over all, sometimes visit of snakes, :D but to me it is no problem, there is a big “nest” with Geckos’ ( 16)on the back, now a part of the family. :D

I use my car to go Khonkaen sometimes to do big shopping. , but here, always travel with my bike.

Questions? Let me know, :o in Mahasarakham

For know a merry Xmas to your all, and look forward to the New Year 2009.

  5. You can also get rid of languages and printer drivers that you don't need using: http://monolingual.sourceforge.net/

    nice to have! thanks

    I have a other question

I try all-ready google but till now no solution.

A few days ago we had a short power cut on the moment I was using Aperture 2.

After it is impossible to use again, message "aperture is not responding"

So one thing to do = Force Quit

I try uninstall Aperture and reinstall again, but still it refuse to open. "aperture is not responding" :o

You have any idea what can be done?

    Thanks in advance

  6. Meanwhile, you might be interested in checking out Boston Tea, a foreign-owned cafe that also serves food/beer, across the street from the canal (Rajabhat-end, not downtown-end).

We also live sometime in Mahasarakham,( Wengnan) :D my son goes to Sarakhampittaakhom School ( English Program) with (I believe) 10 foreign teachers.

Also he get extra private lessons in writing and reading Thai.

It is less expensive here then living in Khonkaen, on the other site it is not far away, and shopping ?? next week you can go to Big C also in Mahasarakham.

By the way where I find exactly Rajabhat-end?

    Greetings

and be :o in Mahasarakham the school city of Isan

  7. Hi Mac fans

Some time I use now my Imac

    Question:

What is the best way to free up space in IMAC ( Leopard)

    double files

double pictures ( this happened in Iphoto and aperture)

    Temp Files or old files

Or maybe I think to much to my old windows :o

    Thanks in advance

  8. You can do your 90 day report by mail. Remember that the reporting period is 7 days before or after report date. If you put it in the mail a week or so before report date it will be fine.

Thanks ubonjoe , yes I know the possibility to send , 90 day's report by mail.

But still a question; After renewing the retirement visa , I don,t have the lower part of Tm 47, there is only a little notice to report , is this sufficient to send instead?

  9. As I promised to Lite Beer I will tell about the result of my extension.

After a phone call it turns out that we have to go to Nong Khai ( registered in Khonkaen)

First of all I want to tell that on the immigration office Nong Khai they where polite and helpful.

(We where unlucky to have somebody before us with 15 passports , so all together it was waiting 5 hours.)

    There was a small problem.

My first retirement visa I obtain in Hua-Hin

So they needed to have a fax from Hua-Hin to renew the extension ( in 1 hour it was there.)

Also I had a new passport ( the visa in the old one)

But like I said they where helpful and changed every thing to my new passport ( 3 pages :o )

so I'm Happy that every thing is ok till 12 november 2009.

For the 90 Day's we can go also to Mukdahan ( we rented a house in Mahasarakham)

    Greetings to your all

  10. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks again, in a few weeks we will go to Korat I will post the result.

About areas of responsibility for immigration office ( into effect 11 augustus), we been to Korat 21 augustus ,(for the 90 days extension)

On a correct and nice way they have helped us ( 5 min later we been back home) nobody have told us anything about this rule.

Maybe there is a different between 90 days and extension temporary stay.

    Greetings

  11. Maybe it is ask many times before, but for me still not clear.

I am( Dutch)65+ married with Thai

Soon I need to renew my non Immigrant O.

We are registered in the house of my parents in Law ( Khonkaen)

(we live in Mahasarakham because my son is there on school)

Now I understand we have to go to Nong Khai for extension ( Before we been to Korat)

I have evidence of monthly income ( 65.000+ bath) by letter of certification of our embassy.

Is it necessary (with this certification in English) to go to Thai Min. of Foreign affairs or can I avoid a trip to BKK?

Can we apply in Mukdahan ( because we are living in Mahasarakham) Or this depend on address in The Yellow Baan?

I will be grateful with all help

    Thanks to your all

  12. What is the true?

The school ( they take care of the extension) of my son goes always to Nong Khai.

It turns out that the immigration officer told the staff of the school, that next time

everybody has to go to his own region,

this means for us living in Mahasarakham that we have to go to Mukdahan.

Is this a change for everybody or only ED visa?

    What about NON O ?

( the best way ( to drive) for us is Korat or Nong Khai

    Greetings

  13. Hello Every body

Is there somebody who knows where we can repair our XBOX 360

If possible in Khonkaen but also BKK will be good

The problem is known by microsoft

Xbox 360 console is flashing three red lights on the Ring of Light. ( ring of death)

our console have to be repaired, our son love to play on it , after school time

We have looked every where for repair, but where we live Mahasarakham, nobody knows something about XBOX

( only we can buy the software)

    Thanks in advance :o

    Nice greetings

    Putu

  14. I had some iguanas from JJ market and they were doing fine until I woke up one morning to find them dead from a black ants attack. Hiding in their water bowl didn't even save them from the thousands of ants. I had them in a nice screened enclosure with big tree branches to climb and places to hide plus a large water bowl to swim in. In the future if I plan getting them again I will move them indoors during the night, ants are near impossible to stop.

Sorry for the late Answer but thanks to you all

We have a green Iguana Iguana (attach some picture) we buy in Khonkean on the campus of the university

I know the problems with the ants, :o but till know we can keep them out

(outside we use a chaindrite to destroy the Ants) :D

He is together with our birds :D

Also, if you use the good food they will not destroy plants ,only in our cage ( 8x3x2) is a mango tree, they love to eat evry thing of the tree. :D

    nice greetings

  15. Hello Everybody :D

A long time we where looking for a good school for my Son ( 14)

Example .In Hua-Hin the Somtawin school and Khonkaen the Vithes Suksa Bilingual School

Most off the time this school are very expensive

(If you are on pension you are looking to other possibilities )

The we moved to Mahasarakham ( the school city of Isan)

Here we find the Sarakhampittayakhom School http://ep.spk.ac.th.

It turns out that it was a perfect school for our son ( English program) :o

And more, not expensive 35.000 bath for the year

    a other 50000 extra for 3 years to go abroad ( Singapore/Malaysia/etc)

They where very kind to help us also with the ED Visa, After 1 month the staff of the school been with my son to Nong Khai, so he can stay

for 1 year ( the 3 month report and extension be done by the school)

We are very happy with this solution , more because we find good housing ( and my wife is working here in a government office )

If you want to know more let me know

    Greetings to all of You
