  1. You are refering to Liquidated Damages and your friend would need to be able to prove that the delay has caused him to incurr costs that are equal to the amount that he is claiming in damages.

Court option could cost you more than you are able to recover depending on the circumstances.

Maybe a trusted third party negotiation is best just to complete the contract, your friend gets the boat, the builder gets paid and the delay and lack of accountability or enforceability at law in a good lession to us all about doing business in a place like Thailand.

  2. Shouldn't it be the Finance Ministry as the lack of any real chance of making a good living is driving people over the edge.

All our Thai friends tell us the last 3 or 5 years are not really what Thai people are like.

Well really all the unbelievable events and upheaval is a true reflection of what Thai people and society is like and their wish for people to believe otherwise is just part of the asian ego building exercises we see everywhere everyday.

What people think is more important than what happens - Welcome to a third world country going backwards.

  3. I'm looking for comments/advice on the best value for money (cost v quality) options for mobile internet access for a Laptop computer here in Thailand.

Recent good speed computer and only in the major centres like Chang Mai, Udon, Bangkok, Pattaya & Phuket.

    Thanks for any comments.

  4. When I first moved to live here 6 years ago I imported some of my own personal items.

At Don Muang got presented with a bill from an agent for 16,800 baht and tlold goods will not be released until the bill was paid.

Got the Thai customs involved after about 2 hours talking goods were released to me and paid 3,800 baht for some of the so called paperwork done by the agent.

Put my stuff in a cab with 3 or 4 minders looking on and drove away.

I should have known then what a backward place this is.

  5. RIP Martin.

Now the usual Thai damage control until things blow over and new customers are available for the same useless loss of life next week.

Our country, our way is on display for all to see and more and more people are becoming fully informed to make their own independent informed decisions about Thailand, its risks and the way its people conduct themselves.

  6. To make the changes needed even to return Thailand to an even footing with the rest of the developed world would take 20 years of relentless hard work. Can't see it ever happening and Thailand will continue to lag further and further behind and rely more and more on useless asian ego building to support the mass illusion that Thailand leads the world.

At what. Pineapples, small female weightlifting, military coups ????????????????

Will the last one out please shut the door and turn out the lights.
