  1. Anyone who drives here in Thailand and isn't afraid most of the time just doesn't know what can happen.

Red Light and Speed cameras fine actual offenders and act as a deterant but should only be used in traffic black spots with high accident or fatality rates

They should not be used as they are in Australia as a defacto form of tax collection.

  2. This man is a walking headline. All the electronic and print media moguls must be praying for his return.

You could sack all your reporters and just employ 2 or 3 to follow him around all day just to fill up your paper and TV stories.

Hang on isn't that just like what happened before for 5 years.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  3. Yes you can do your 90 day report at Samut Prakarn immigration if you reside in Samut Prakarn provence. This is where your 90 day report from Bangkok ends up anyway.

Just go to the Amphurs Office in Pakenum and if you are faceing the river the immigration office is 250 meteres to your right on the river with a large concrete car park in front of it. If you have any trouble ask for the Post Office its beside it.

  4. The same situation as my wife and I except Australian - Thai.

When we registered our marriage at the Amphurs Office, Samut Prakarn (local government office) we used my name and Nings maiden name. Works fine for all Thai authorities and have the marriage certificate translated into english for dealing with all Australian government authorites. Her Thai ID, bank, blue book, drivers license evertything OK.

But you must have your marriage registered in Thailand at the local Amphurs office in the province in which you live for your marriage to be leagally recognized here in Thailand.

We found this best but it may not suit everyone.

  5. At least we can clearly see that the reds have not one ounce of democracy in their body. So some of the posters and their acts of being 'champions of democracy' will come tumbling down like a deck of cards.

I don't think that many Thais that I know on all sides of politics claim or expect anything other than "aggressive self interest" when they are behind closed doors.

  6. ...Now be it non-O Thai wife or non-O renewal based on 400K, if I wish to travel out of Thailand during the course of my 1-year visa, is there any problem ? Will that automatically invalidate my visa ?

When you first get your visa it will be a single or multiple entry visa by your choice. If its single entry it will be used when you first enter Thailand but if its multiple you can come and go as often as you need.

When you get your Extension of Stay for 1 year you then need to further get a Reentry Permit at 1,000 baht for single or 3,900 for multiple reentry. You must have this or you visa is used and you cannot reenter Thailand.

  7. I understand that renewal for VISA based on marriage with a Thai spouse you've to show 400K in your account.

    I have a few questions:

    (1) When you first get married to a Thai woman, this 400K does not apply. You will still get your 1 year non-immigrant VISA; it's only upon renewal that you need to show 400K in your account. Am I right ?

    (2) The 1 year non-immigrant granted the 1st time based on marriage (not renewal) as well as subsequent renewal based on 400K savings, I will still need to travel out of Thailand every 3 months. Am I right ?

I am on exactly the same visa as you state here.

You do not need the 400K baht in the Thai bank account in your own name when you get your Non Immigrant Type O Visa (Thai Wife) before entry into Thailand but this is required if you make application for a 1 year extension of stay based from here in Thailand. If you choose you can always leave Thailand before your visa expires and then reapply for a new Non Immigrant Type O Visa (Thai Wife) from outside Thailand and then return and stay for 1 year on that visa.

No If your visa is Non Immigrant Type O based on a Thai wife you do not need to leave Thailand every 3 months you can live here permanently for the period of your visa or extension and your only requirement is to report your residential address every 90 days to Thai Immigration.

    Hope this helps.

  8. First start out with a single entry non-o visa from Canada.

Then go to immigration and apply for a 1 year extension based upon marriage to a Thai (1900 baht). There is no written income requirement for this type of extension. You would then get a re-entry permit which costs 1000 baht for a single or 2000 baht for a multiple re-entry permit.

See 2.18 of police order for info. Only 1, 2, and 3 apply in your case.

I think that multiple reentry permits are 3,900 baht not 2,000 baht.

  9. In order to understand how many people are interested in their wives participating in a Equal Rights Anti-Discrimination Law suit against Thai Immigration, it would be helpful to understand just where the possible litigants live.

This would also be helpful towards organizing future meetings.

As has been pointed out in the other companion Thread - "Is A Class Action Suit Possible Against Thai Immigration?"

it is crucial that this be a Thai Wife organized action... with Only Thai Wives actually participating....

Which doesn't preclude Husbands from adding their support and counsel, as is only appropriate in an equal and loving relationship.

People that are interested in supporting getting their wives together, or having their wives contibute to the costs and or participating in the organization, or those that have legal, secretarial and other skills, please add your support by posting here, or by sending me a PM.

    Power to our Thai Wives...

Why not try to approach this through a respected expat organization like the Joint Chambers of Commence and see if the informal approach may achieve equal too or better results than the legal process. Still make take some though.

  10. 20,000 sheep all led by the deviant shepherd Thaksin, the pervert of Thai justice supported of course by his vitriolic mouthpiece supporters on this forum. Still we all now what suits sheep don't we - carved up with mint sauce on a plate. Let's hope that the wiser factions of Thai society do all they can to protect the metaphorical from becoming factual.

Less like sheep and more like paid employees. Thai people turn a blind eye when it suits their own purposes to do so. Just look at how the country, business, government and people suffer and continue to suffer unnecessarily.

  11. The Australian government has issued an updated Travel Advisory at the "reconsider your need to travel" level for Thailand specifically regarding the change in entry and exit requirements for Tourist visas.

    Quoted as follows.

    Entry and Exit Requirements

Visa and other entry and exit conditions (such as currency, customs and quarantine regulations) change regularly. Contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate of Thailand for the most up-to-date information.

Australian tourists travelling to Thailand through one of the international airports on an Australian passport may currently enter Thailand for up to 30 days without obtaining a visa in advance. This is referred to as a "visa exemption". From 25 November 2008, Australian tourists travelling overland into Thailand through a border crossing may enter Thailand for up to 15 days without obtaining a visa in advance. A visa is required for longer stays or for travellers intending to work or to travel for other than tourism purposes in Thailand.

Tourists who reside in Thailand for 90 days must depart Thailand for at least 90 days before they will be permitted to re-enter Thailand, unless they obtain a valid visa at a Thai Embassy or Consulate in another country outside Thailand.
