  1. Speaking with people in the Tessabaan (multiple family members of my wife work in there), they all say that the marina is going to be built, it is not gossip, they do truly have plans and intentions to build it with government funding.

Now this is not to say its a sure thing, who knows, certainly everywhere in the world things get planned but never built. But for sure this Marina is a real project with real intentions behind it and not some rumor mill story.

Same as the Big C, its a true rumor and the plans have been passed, they have just delayed construction. (that was totally off topic;))

Sometimes goverment people coming to look at the projects they paid for and are standing at the right place, and there is nothing there. Like they got money to build a trash burning oven. The building is there.... but without the oven,,,lol,,, the oven cash found the way in somebodys pocket. So here they still burn all the trash in the jungle and all the nice cadmium from the batteries goes in the ground water. This is Thailand

  2. So anybody found out what they are building?

    BREAKING NEWS!!!  ( I think!)

I had time today waiting for my boat back to Samui, to investigate what's going on here & also exactly where site is.

From the Round-a bout it's next to the Songserm Ferry ....  After driving though the old avenue of trees then through a disgusting mess of garbage, it's there to the right.

According to the site "foreman" it's not going to be a marina, but a Museum for the Thai Royal Navy's Ship, named the "Koh Phengan"  Which is going in to retirement after 60 years service. It is supposed to be in place  by November this year.

100 metres long by 15 metres wide.  There was about a dozen workers there, preparing re bar for cement.

.... so don't get your yachts lined up to find a spot quite yet!

It will be interesting to see how they actually get it into place... I guess come November there should be some high tides.

Also,  to see if what I was told was true... but his English was good, & he seemed to know a lot of details...

    Thanks for the propper information!!!

But do we need a war ship museum...?

Well if  it is going to be that, so be it.

Would have love to see a marina with some

    shopping mall feeds...

and to park my longtail safe.

  3. Thaksin should help resolving Preah Vihear dispute: coalition partner

The Chart Thai Pattana Party on Friday called for the government to designate the Preah Vihear Temple dispute as a national agenda and urged the intervention of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

"Chart Thai Pattana remains concerned about the dispute to resurface again next year and wants Thaksin to assist in reasoning with the Cambodian government," party spokesman Watchara Kannikar said.

  4. If he's got local ISLAND family,

    tell them,

    they know what to do.

Here, ,,, we do NOT call the cops!

    If not... get friends together,

    and start hunting,

    or leave.

I am very sad to hear of such a brutal crime.

A question for the money with the gun in the hand would have done the trick much more gentleman-like... :whistling:

  5. What interests me is how long it will take before the penny drops with the Thais and they realise Samui has basically had its day, unless things are done to help the island. Bangkok Airways prices, taxis with no meters, litter strewn everywhere, no proper policing, one rip off after another etc etc

Samui could get away with it three of four years ago but now the competition is growing and we have become a very expensive option with little or nothing extra to offer.

I suppose when the penny does drop the remedy will be to put the prices up. :annoyed:

Also agree, and pressed the little "+" button left down on post.

Agreed!!! And I think it will not happen in our life time. (The dropping penny I mean)

  6. the fellow how died was a friend of mine..!! he was testing his engine in front of his house..!  my friend David near his house only heared a loud bang, after thge engine run full on...?! nobody actualy saw directtly how  it happened...! they found him with the blade in his Head (brain)....  !  its very tragic.. something went very wrong....! i always said, Paramotor can bve very dangerous..!!! because its not only the flying part.,its also extremly importent to now how to take care of the engine, and handel it safely..!!!

I meet Soltan 50, from Sweden 3 jears ago in Koh Phangan...! he watched me flying around the island, and one day he meet me and asked me to sell him the engine.,but i told him he has to learn it prroberly.!

  7. If the accident was in his "gerage", than he should have switched off the motor first. Those propellers can be nasty. If the accident occured whilst flying, really don't have much simpathy. It's a dangerous sport... Up in the air with a lawn mower engine, for heavens sake!

Heard it happend in his gerage.

May be schould have put the cage over the lawn mower's engine.

    OK , found out now,

    swedish guy in baan tai,

and yes IN the gerage fixing the engine.

    12 yeas on KPG.

    Sad !

    RIP

    P.S.

think this one should be closed now.

  8. Stupidity rules at the offices of the Nation. The yearly failed state list published two weeks ago, clearly does not have anything to do with the red shirt horror. Maybe it has to do something with outright idiots that send the army into the streets to kill people two consecutive years in a row. It might have to do something with the horror that hundreds of thousands of tourists and businessmen met when the yellow shirts had occupied the airports. it might even have to do something with crooked army generals buying weaponsystems that will never be used (But the kickback is fine) aircraft carries without aircrafts, bomb scanners and so on or maybe with nation supported politicians taking bribes from bankrupt companies (Democrat party) it might have to do with brothels ran by elitists, corrupted police or even with crooked yellow shirt leaders who think that the poor are dump and therefore provoke them? Or has it something to do with the lack of press freedom in which the nation in a major beneficiary? It has in any case nothing to do with the red shirts and there justified demands.

Justified demands :annoyed: , from the red shirts???  ???

OMG, where do you live, mars?  :cheesy:

    in our restaurants.
