This is indeed going to be interesting to follow.
Already started on some streets outside of downtown Chiangmai.

Wish the survey included how many in major areas of Thailand are retired on retirement pensions, and are covered by Tricare Select Overseas Medical Insurance.

Approximate cost for bi-focal. Can they use drops and look into eyes or just test for glasses?

Very nice post for those interested in PI. Thank you for taking time to post. Unfortunately, I am tied to Thailand, but you are very kind to take the time.

As the two posts above confirm, regular ACH transfers are continuing to be processed by BKKB's NY branch for onward credit to Thailand, same as usual -- for the time being.
And, there are no known U.S. banks or credit unions that allow their retail/consumer customers to send IAT compatible ACH transfers right now. So, basically, ANY ACH transfer that you or I or anyone here might initiate from a U.S. bank or credit union is going to be NON-IAT compatible.
ALL APO services for retired military is stopping October 1, 2019. There has been no extension so far. For everyone using the APO address through the US Embassy Bangkok to have important US Government documents and mail you don't want the Thai Post to misplace start checking for an alternate arrangement. Announcement posted by JUSTMAG Bangkok, US Embassy, and direct from US Consulate APO in Chiangmai. Those with secure account with DFAS and other secure Government accounts can get military pay and tax documents online. For those who file claims with Tricare Select Overseas, make sure you set up a dirct deposit with a bank.

Both DFAS and SS came through on 4th. The BKK NY sent me a message concerning the DFAS retired military account and said just make sure they have your local Thai address. SS already had because of sets of forms filled out End of January. Faxed DFAS direct to Retired Pay changing APO to local address last week of March, and they indicated money would be sent in required IAT format. Son's SSI dirct deposit with foreign address arrived on 4th like clockwork as usual.

It sort of indicates if DFAS and SS came through they are being sent in the acceptable way.

Does it really make any difference what they did to save the boys. The boys are alive because of Navy Seals and selfless divers. God Bless. LET IT REST!

Do not understand what you mean stamp, your bank book pages. When used money in bank over the years the bank just did a signed letter and after I updated the book verifying the amount.
Your talking about stamping each copied page of your bank book?

Anyone flown from Luang Prabang to savannakhet, Laos for a fly in visa run? With direct flights from Chiangmai it might be an interesting alternative.
-
Curious if you would share. What programs or set up on your computer allows you to teach online like that. And how did you come across the people to teach? Sounds fascinating. Any need for accounting teaching in English?
-
I have read about Savannakhet with no financial proof for ME non O, but thought I read that you have to show money if you go to HCMC. What are current requirements for MEV based on marriage. Can now fly from Chiangmai to HCMC?

Download a wifi speed program on phone and test your wifi router speed. They give a close enough calculation of speed. I use meteor, but many available.

Have been there twice over the years. Once for a work related Thai visa. Very nice city. People were very friend. Clean city. I loved traveling on the subway system. I can't tell you about cost of living there. The one thing I noticed mist was the way they drive. Safer and when the lights change everyone Stops. Same at crosswalks. Heavy heavy fines for not stopping. Research in Google. You can learn alot about the city, people. A number of articles have listed he cost of living and compared with different cities and countries in world.

Sansai marriage procedure to register is a two step process. One, you have all the required affidavits for marriage and your passport page, then get translated into English and taken to legalization office at City Hall. You and wife will then go to Sansai District Office in Sansai and they will look at copies of your wife's house book and Government ID and take all the required documents. They will then call you back for you and wife and two witnesses to come sign the document. Its a two step process.
Google Sansai CM district office and go to their website and get address and phone number. Google map will show you where to go to District Office.

What does a Thai wife do for a certified copy of Government ID and House book. If Wife keeps her own name when registered, does that cause problem anywhere proving she is your wife?

As a serious side from all the side to all the snide comments, the heat is extremely dangerous for very young and older adults combined with the air pollution right now. For type 1 or type 2 insulin dependants diabetics, the extreme heat causes problems with both high and low glucose levels. Keep hydrated everyone! Cheers

20 years ago they wanted witnesses at District Office in Sarapee, CM. Yesterday called District Office in Sansai, CM and they indicate they will take in all documents, check for completion on first personal visit, the call a few days later and have you come back with two witnesses and sign documents. I realize in saying this that nit same everywhere, but don't show up for registration without calling first to find out their procedure. Good Luck.

Thanks ubonjoe. Got another reply from DFAS asking aboit IAT format. They replied:
Dear xxxxxxxxx, As you requested, the 4-1-19 pay was sent by the regular IAT format; not SWIFT. We also show no return of your 4-1-19 pay at DFAS either. If you have any questions or concerns, or did not receive your pay, please contact a Representative 1-888-332-7411 or 216-522-5096, options 4-3-5 and 3, as we will not be able to assist you though the AskDFAS forum due t the Privacy Act of 1974. Customer Service Representatives are available Monday through Friday between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm EST. Thank you immensely for your service and for allowing us to assist you today with your Retired Pay Account. We are committed to providing quality service to our customers. Sincerely, DFAS-CL
Guess that's good. Should find out by the 4th when get both SSA and Military retirement. Its dangerous to assume. No mention changing to IAT was now standard procedure.

Get certified copy of passport and affidavit to marry. Translate into Thai. Take to legalization office and legalize. Copywifes house book and Government ID. Going through same thing. My district office does in two steps. Visit and provide all documents. In a few days they call and tell you to come and sign and bring two friends to witness.
