I've done 19, the last 12 in Pattaya, and this year was the first time they did a home visit. We had our witness lined up for a Thursday appointment. They called and said they were busy and would come on Monday morning. They showed up and no witness. She had a death in the family over the weekend. The three Immigration Police said, no witness, no extension. My wife held them off for a few minutes, found a neighbor who happened to have a copy of her ID and house book. They didn't go in the house because we have dogs. All turned out OK but it was a bit frantic for a bit.

The OP asked if immigration in Bangkok does home visits, I just did my most recent extension in Bangkok two months ago, still no home visits.

  2. It's possible that your laptop will not work after the battery reaches "0," if the power adapter/charger is faulty, which is one of the most common causes of a battery not charging. KhunBENQ gave you good advice, call the Acer Service Center. They'll try to fix the problem over the phone, and refer you to a service center if they can't. You shouldn't need a receipt if your laptop was registered by the seller when you purchased it.

Batteries and power adapters are not cheap, and should be free if your machine is under warranty. Also, have you tried a different wall outlet/ mains to plug your laptop into? Surge protectors and power strips can easily go bad if you're using one. Try connecting directly into a wall outlet and bypass the power strip or surge protector if you're using one, or a different wall outlet if you're plugged directly into a wall outlet.

    You mix things up.

Wifi frequencies can 2,4 GHz and 5 GHz.  But that is completely different than 4G or 5G for mobiles.

Spot on, but it is confusing. With a name so close, it’s easy to get confused. 5G is cellular service like your smartphone uses. And 5 GHz refers to the wireless spectrum your Wi-Fi router can use. You can’t take your existing Wi-Fi router and connect it to 5G cellular service. And you can’t take this device and connect it to your existing home Internet provider to give your house Wi-Fi.  You need 5G service in your area to take advantage of this device.

I was a Samsung Note owner from 3 to the ill-fated 7 , however had to resort to a cheap Xiaomi Note 6 Pro 11 months ago , as of today I still have it and cannot justify going back to Galaxy Note .

Sent from my Redmi Note 6 Pro using Thailand Forum - Thaivisa mobile app

One review I read, said that Xiaomi phones were better quality phones than Samsung at half the price. Others call Xiaomi the Apple (phones) of China. I bought a Xiaomi, and couldn't be happier with it.

  5. My mechanic insists that Honda makes the most reliable motorbike, and he certainly knows more than me. But, I have a 15 yr. old Yamaha Nouvo that virtually nothing has needed repair and still runs like new. We regularly maintain it, change the oil, etc., and it just keeps on running like a top. In the 15 yrs. we've had it, the only thing that doesn't work right is the fuel gauge. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, but it's easy enough just to look in the tank to see how much fuel there is.

  6. If you aren't set on a small car, have a look at the Toyota Avanza minivan. I've owned one for 14 yrs. here, it's been remarkably trouble free, has plenty of room inside (seats up to 7 with the rear seat up), is easy on gas and costs about the same (or not much more) as many small cars. I've already decided that when it comes time to buy a new car, I'm going to buy another Avanza. Prices start around 649,000 Baht:

Another question is will "authorities" come over to our residence to do an inspection and verification?  Or is this done randomly?  Do "they" provide any warning if this will be done?  Does it mean I must stay put at home during the 30 days for a surprise inspection?

Not to say it can't happen, but I'm on my 14th extension based on a Thai wife in Bangkok, and no one from the Immigration Dept. has ever paid me a visit, and you certainly don't have to stay home for the 30 days.

  8. As someone who lives in Thailand on a visa and extensions based on marriage to a Thai, there is no such thing as a "marriage" visa, although you could probably ask for one and immigration would know what you're asking for. Officially, what is stamped in your passport is a "Thai Wife" visa extension, I've got 14 of them in two passports. In Thai or English, you shouldn't have a problem getting what you're asking for.
