  1. @Petch01

I am very undecided to buy a Vigo 4x4 or the LS 3.0 VGS in the next weeks. You have the Isuzu now for 2 weeks. I am curious about your opinion re. brakes, loudness and fuelconsumption? Is the 4wd working satisfactory? What are the weaknesses...

    Hi Birdman,

I've never driven a Toyota Vigo so I don't have any knowledge about the Vigo other than the posts on this board. My previous car was a D-Max LS 3.0 2003. Driving this new LS 3.0 VGS is a very big difference compared with my old LS. My friend has a LS 3.0 iTec 2005. I drove his car on recent holiday trip for 2,500 km. Both he and I find that the VGS is much faster and much more quiet than his LS 2005.

The LS has ABS with EBD.

I drove the past 1,300 km on 12.2 km/l. With the old LS it would have been 8-10 km/l.

    I like the dual airbags.

The 4WD system is same as my old LS. You can change 2WD to 4WD while driving (up to 100-120 km/h).

The LS should have weaknesses but I'm not aware of any. This is my 3rd Isuzu since May 2001.

The ALL NEW Isuzu will be out in March 2008

Ignis knows a lot about a PII, PIII and PIV and drives his girfriend's Tiger pretending he knows a lot about a Quad Core and a Fortuner.

  5. Hiya Petch

Did you part exchange the old one against the price and if so, what allowance did they knock off it please ?

The extra,s only include the insurance if you take out the financing deal, my dealer informs me by the way.

    marshbags

I sold my car privately to people who I, by coincidence, met at the Isuzu dealer in Cha Am on the 22nd October.

The extras I got where the extras written in my previous post.

  6. Hi Petch01

Just down the road in HH from you (Well will be in 3 weeks).

Did you have to wait long after ordering?

Did you manage to squeeze any extras out of the dealer?

Do you know if Isuzu are offering any good finance deals at the moment?

    Thanks for your help

    Hi jflundy,

The car costs 833,000 THB + 8,500 for the car registration. The extras that were given for free were:

    - Lamina screens

    - Tuff-Kote Dinol floor protection

    - doorstep protectors

    - spare wheel lock

    - 1 Baht Gold

    - 1 year 1st class insurance

    - borrowed red plates

    - car cover

    - front shield inside sun cover

    - 500 THB fuel

On Monday 22nd we went to the dealer. I bought my first LS there, almost 5 years ago. The 23rd was a holiday. Had to do paperwork back and forward. On Friday 26th I drove my Black LS. The car is financed at my wife's name for 46 % of the price at a rate of 2.5 % per year. 48 months 8,880 THB.

The car was bought at Isuzu UNT Cha Am, Mr. Udom (good guy, speaks some English).

    Good luck, Petch01

  7. hi guys..

i'm leaving town for a month over christmas and i was wondering if anybody knows of any car storage facilities in or around bkk.. it's a classic car and i need peace of mind..

    cheers

If "peace of mind" means that another foreign user can drive it around Cha Am and Hua Hin for a month while you are not there, then I know a good place.

  8. You should keep it as long as it is not a money pit on repairs. If a vehilcle has been maintain properly it will last MANY years. My Cefiro is 10 years old and runs like new, why would I want to buy a new car? If you are the original owner of the car then you know the maintanence record. Some thing to think about is how the mileage is put on a vehicle. 100,000 kilometrs driven at 120km/hr has about 833 hours of use on the engine. The same vehicle with 100,000km driven at 60km/hr has 1666 hours of use on the engine, twice as much use for the same mileage. Also, stop and go mileage has more wear on an engine. Just a few things to consider.

Good point. How do you find our whether a car is driven for 833 hours or 1666 hours? Ask the driver's job?

More about ratios? 833 hours/100,000 km in 4 years or 1666 hours/100,000 km in 8 years?

    What's the best deal?

  9. Does the Turbo aspect increase insurance and gas usage?

Today I drove a 380 km journey. A journey not different from with my old LS (03-2003) as I went to my other house. Drove 80-125 km/h, little bit 4H and 4L for a few kilometres (when in our area). I did a 13km/L. With my old LS it was about a 9-10km/L. What really impressed me was taking over another car driving 85 km/h. This VGS engine goes as a rocket compared with my old car.

I bought my first LS in March 2003. I had to pay 778,000 THB + about 15,000 THB for an alarm system, fog lights, aluminum stairs and window screens. My new LS brought me so, so much more for 833,00 THB all included.

As the VGS is available for a divers types of D-Max-es, take a test drive. You will see.

  10. I saw this "gold series" in isuzu before 1 week.

there is NOTHING speciel with this model but the signs outside is gold instead of silver as all cars have.

on the wheel -also same trick- gold instead of silver.

the dashboard is with little bit gold texture..hehe :o

if you pay money for it / this is the reason you hurry to buy this "gold series" you are nothing but a fool.

its simply just a marketing techinc to increase sales.

    :D

I'm a fool, thank you, but a happy one. Today I got my Cab4 LS Gold Series. It's a beauty compared with my Cab4 LS 03-2003 (the first series). But, "thai4u", this car compared with the D-Max Cab4 LS of a couple of weeks ago has:

    - 3.0 turbo VGS (standard)

    - leather seats

    - an electronic antenna

    - a new front bumper

    - electric foldable side mirrors

    - a tripmaster; trip, fuel usage and outside temperature measurement

    - a key including the opening or closing of the central locking

    - side mirror leds

    - central rear brake light consists of leds

and yes, "thai4u", and the gold-coloured things you mentioned. So I assume, you got your info from your wife who doesn't want you to buy the new Gold Series.

  11. 3] Slightly reduced braking performance (weight transfer).

Thanks a lot for the good explanation. I don't really want to disagree with you who has a lot more experience than I have but the "Slightly reduced braking performance" is underestimated.

We all agree that a higher COG ( calculated from the back or front) will cause an easier tillting (the problems with the first SUV in the USA). A higher COG (measured in the length of the vehicle) will give extra force on the front train (while braking) as the angle between the length-COG and the front train has increased.

You will go straight on when you want to turn left or right while (slightly) braking.

  12. I've got 1024/512 on TOT with their Himark-tel DB120 router and I get this message in bittorrent that ports are closed (port 6881) and there is a problem with the settings etc.

I went to www.portforward.com but my router is not there (came from TOT about 2 years ago) and there is no page on the router settings to select a port range or anything like that.

The first day, the lights were green and I got down speeds up to 100kb/s but not the little triangle is orange / brown and I barely get 10-30kb/s.

Can anyone please help this downkload newbie with the TOT router ? thanks

What you have to do with the DB120 is type in the link below:

    http://192.168.1.1/html/index1.html

    Then "advanced" and "port forwarding".

    Good luck,

  13. "...regulations of the Teachers Council of Thailand governing the professional standards and ethics as follows:..."

Do you have a link to this. I think many of us would like to see what the regulations are.

    Terry

I'm sorry. I only have a copy. The part of the document I posted is from a document issued at the very start of TCT. The document that is useful for teachers is the document ".......Applying for License to Practice Teaching Profession B.E. 2549 (2006)". It's about the requirements for getting the-new-style Teacher License as a result of the initial document. This document is available at the link below.

  14. Those TCT guidelines do not appear to have legal force, and haven't yet been enforced much except a few places. Chaimai?

I agree that the rules haven't been enforced yet but the TCT does have a legal status. Below you'll find a part of Volume 122 Special Part 76D, Government Gazette, September 5, 2005.

By virtue of provisions in paragraph one (11) (e), (1) of Section 9, Section 49 and Section 50 of the Teachers and Educational Personnel Council Act RE. 2546 (2003), along with the resolution of the Teachers Council of Thailand Board Meeting No. 9/2005 on June 20, 2005, and the resolution of the Teachers Council of Thailand Board Meeting No. 10/2005 on July 18, 2005, by approval of the Minister of Education, the Teachers Council of Thailand Board hereby issues the regulations of the Teachers Council of Thailand governing the professional standards and ethics as follows:

  15. First of all, I hope I understand well what you wrote.

If you have a router, it should have more than one lan port. Look at the back. If you don't have that, than it isn't a router.

Assuming you have a router, your friend can plug-in one end of a LAN-cable in his laptop and the other end in your router. There is his connection.

If there is nothing to plug-in an extra cable, then you don't have a router and should buy one. In your case I recommend a wireless one.
