  1. There is obviously a lot of well informed Thai politically educated people on here. So can anyone answer the question that the rest of the world has had about what they are hearing and viewing everyday recently on CNN, BBC, FOX, SKY etc?

Why has Mr Thaksin, and any affiliations to him been been ousted from positions, considering the majority support him and have voted for him.

Why is it when internationally recognised free and fair elections seem to be always invoked by what what the world knows as an elite.

There are not my questions, but the questions of the democratically led world, which is why actions have been condemned internationally.

  2. Lets put it one way, it is what it is, and that is all that can be said! I hate the tor ist making it fun for more than the expected, but it is the reason why C M is the top place to go in Thailand for Songkran. We have all been there! making are way on the expected journey, to be drenched by the heinous reaches that throng our main thorough fairs when all we want is a bowl of noodles or a pack of fags in the morning. We moan and bitch, but truthfully, would you be anywhere else!

  3. Too much money and not enough sense!!!

Followed you for 4 years, as Chiang Mai United and then last year as Chiang Mai F.C. but I can see, that the wrong people have become the know it alls of football.

    Shame, massive shame.

I'll still follow you, but get the shit out of the club!!!

Money is power. But money doesn't give you knowledge!

    I stand corrected!

I know nothing about football. Chiang Mai are doing fantastic this year!

Note to TVers. If you know <deleted> all, don't post <deleted> all!!!

  4. Seems like you are back tracking slinky :o you was the first person to make an issue of bad grammar and if you hadn't we wouldn't be discussing it now ;).

I've already stated my cause and it's been left at that.

Constructive criticism is the best way to criticise. I thought I did that without coming across too harsh.

I am sure that those comments can help the guys develop the site into something fantastic.

    Marketing is a clever business!

How about setting up a forum on the new site.

  5. I know Thai Visa and I know a lot of it's members. So with this in hand. Did you go to the game? Do you like football? or do you just search every thread trying to fulfil your pedantic fantasies.

"Did you go to the game?" Yes, I did. I go to every home game. Season ticket holder, in fact.

"Do you like football?" Yes, I love football. I have been playing since I was five years old.

Since you attacked me directly, I thought I'd respond and point out the fact that your English is not perfect either. So sorry if that bothers you, but if you're going to dish it out, you should be able to take it. (Though I won't point out your grammatical error in your quote above. I'm not that much of a jackass.)

See you at the next match.

I never said mine was perfect. You seemed to make an issue out of it, not me.

Lets leave it at that then. This is a football thread and all posts should be directed that way.

    Unless it benefits the Team.

  6. Well, I can't say to much, but I've seen it all before.

Some people seem to think that they can run before they can walk.

How many times have you seen a top flight manager in any league around the world, drop down a league after winning the top title. I don't know of any, but if there are, it's about money.

Then we move to the players, well unless you read Thai, you're pretty screwed. I mean you could try and look at the new English website for C.M.F.C. but I wouldn't bother, as it's not very informative and it's going to show you how not to write English. I take my hat off to it though, it's better then nothing. I think, not I know, that a lot of the players were released from other clubs either in the Prem or going to the Prem. I don't know of any player that was signed from the Prem directly.

I don't want to seem negative, but lets say I am playing devils advocate. I hold the club close to my heart, so please don't take this post in the wrong way at all (I know what you TVers are like).

I am not used to watching my team win every week, so last year was a a first for me (now I know what it's like to be a Man U Fan). Well, at least it wasn't a loss and even better, we didn't all get charged 20 quid(1000Baht) to get.

It's going to be a long season and a hard one as well. So keep the faith and all will prevail one way or another.

    I wouldn't be English if I didn't moan!!

Please Slinky be my guest and drop me an email and inform me with what you would like me to put on the website. If you would like to write an article for it like someone did this week, just let me know and I'll make sure it appears. We've done it out of our own money and time and its just an hobby, sorry if you feel that its not up to your standard. There is another English website also which featured in the programme yesterday and also in the English programme last game, please have a look and let me know if thats more suitable for you. Again the Guy that has made it has done it off his own back and funds with no help from the club at all even though it is supposed to be the official English website.

    Thanks Thai Miller.

The reason why I take my hat off, is because I think it's great. Just a bit of tweaking here and there and a little more attention to detail will make it a great asset to the Expat Community.

In no way was I taking a pop at you guys. Just giving you a friendly poke.

Can you maybe provide some more information about the players history and current status.

    Keep up the good work!

Thanks so much for showing us "how to write English." :)

It's called a typo. By the way, this is a discussion forum, not related press. So get off your pedantic horse and take off your TV police badge.

If you've got nothing to add to this thread in regards to C.M.F.C. then don't post. My comment in regards to the English on the C.M.F.C website was more of a hidden hint, which in one way or another will help them to improve and build on something that will be beneficial to all of the English speaking C.M.F.C fans.

I know Thai Visa and I know a lot of it's members. So with this in hand. Did you go to the game? Do you like football? or do you just search every thread trying to fulfil your pedantic fantasies.

If you do decide to come to a game any time in the future, bring your camera. You take good pictures!!

  9. Hi there. I have a confession to make. I am addicted to Thai visa. It has now got to the stage where it is interfering with my work and even my personal life. I have tried to talk to my girlfriend about it but she doesn't understand. Even threads that I have no interest in I read and have to reply too.

I used to think that Thai visa was just for old people but now I feel like I've aged so quick and have slowly started to become depressed. If I can't check every couple of hours I start to shake and get withdrawal symptoms.

is there any support groups out there I can go to. Is there a Thai visa anonymous. Please could people share any suggestions they have to help me kick my habit. I've made the first step now I need your help in making the rest of the journey.

Thank you. Please reply quickly as I feel I'm close to the point of no return.

  10. These <deleted> have no consideration for anyone - and why is it the 8 people burned to death in the Central World arson have never been mentioned in the "91 killed' ??? Red Scum are running amok again and it needs the army to round them up or prevent the blockage of the city. Enough is enough - especially when you live in the towers around the area and cannot get in or sleep due to the insane noise from stages and speakers. When will Thailand wake up? angry.gifangry.gif

well asiawatcher,i assume you are a expat living here in thailand as i am myself. My comment to your post is.This is their country and we as foreigners are only guests here. Therefore, they can protest or rally when and wherever they want (thais ) that is.If you don't like it go back to your own country.Nobody is keeping you here.

This is an E-mail sent last week to members of an expat group in Chiang Mai. It clears shows how much our opinions as expats are valued by Thai society.

"There have been some murmurings of dissatisfaction from some of our Foreign Residents which have reached Khun Boong. there have been some threats to cause confusion if the Governor and Mayor and other important city officials are present at our 'celebration'. We are sure this is not to be taken seriously and was an impulsive reaction.

As a clarification: All Foreign residents are Guests of the Kingdom of Thailand and will always retain that status regardless of how rich or well connected one might claim to be. All of us living here made a voluntary choice to do so and if for whatever reason the magic seems to have disappeared, the choice to continue to live here then needs to be revisited. No one, and absolutely no one is forced to live or even stay here if they are unhappy. The airport is not unreachable and has a variety of international destinations and gateways to try and replace the lost happiness from here."

  11. As this topic continues, there's a question I would like to ask.

Does any one really know what the Reds or Yellows are fighting for?

I, like most read this forum and like most follow the press. I also talk to as many people as possible about the situation, but every one has always told me a different side and a different point. Does any one actually have an unbiased view of the problems that are happening now.

  12. All I know is if the Reds don't stop this nonsense I am going to be tempted to petition all Farangs to stop employing bar girls from Issan. It can start with a propaganda campaign like they did in the USA telling drug users they were supporting terrorists with each drug purchase.

This should be good for a couple of days of laughs at the bars.

    Are you serious?

I didn't think a laugh.gif was needed to indicate it was a joke but now that I think about it ... I wonder how Red the families of these girls would remain once their daughter explained how she can't send as much money back home because her tips as a "waitress" have gone down significantly due to farangs not wanting their money to end up supporting people involved in the red movement. rolleyes.gif

Not only have you started spitting, but you have lost touch with reality.

  14. It doesn't matter whether you are red, yellow, in the middle or you simply couldn't give a <deleted>. It's never going going to change. Every year since Mr T was ousted there has been big protests about the government (Red, yellow, pink, blue, brown) every year. There should be a new season added by the government called 'Protest Season'. For the Reds it is always the same time of the year, because it is the quietest time of the year for farmers, and it is the time when there is the least amount of work to do.

I agree with a lot of people on here about their views and feelings towards the Reds. It's bad enough getting around Bangkok at the best of times, but with a protest on, must be a nightmare. But for those that state their grievances on here about the Reds and the chaos that they cause around Bangkok, those same people shouldn't forget the grievances that were forced upon thousands of paying tourists.

Please don't post about the Reds paying for votes and paying for people to protest. It happens on both sides. The yellows were camped in for 6 months. Could you afford to protest for that long with out an income.

IMO who ever comes in at the next election (when ever it happens) will still be hated by one side or the other. The protests will still continue and most importantly, it will give us all something to talk about. I only hope that in my heart that both sides or all fractions can peacefully come together and point Thailand in the right direction. I love this country and it breaks my heart to see powerful figure heads within Thai society use others to insight hatred upon their own personal foes in order to gain an upper hand.

Don't create hatred, Break it. 'Keep Thailand Smiling' should be the new political force in Thailand. Fingers crossed anyway.

  15. the photo is all over various bars around chiang mai. it's very odd.

Odd is definitely the right word. I have only seen the one, so if you see one can you name where you saw it. And where's the man himself to let us in on what the deal is with these freaky posters. I know he is active today, but he ain't saying anything.

  16. I saw his picture in the toilets at Gecko Bar a few days ago

Ermm... in the Ladies, I went in there by mistake :o

Any young ladies sitting on the loo will can share that intimate experience with Mr.Forbes

Sorry heres the picture. I hope.

  17. Spotted this picture next to the U.N Irish the other day and I am really interested to know more. What it is all about. I know this guy is a TV memebr as I've seen his posts and that's why I am reaching out on here.

  18. The Term Soccer Comes from Country that Created Association Football

The term comes from the same country thought to have created the game, England, but is now almost never used there. For the record in addition to South Africa soccer is also used in the U.S., Canada, Australia and Ireland (which also uses football) meaning there is a total population of over 400 million largely English speaking people - French-Canadians use le soccer - using the term (immigrants in those countries may still use 'football'). There are some usages of soccer in New Zealand.

Naming Football 'Soccer' Credited to Oxford Student Brown

An Oxford student named Charles Wreford Brown is credited with taking the s-o-c in association and first calling the game soccer. References to him are easy to find but there is no written example of his using the word. The usage spread from Oxford and Clive Toye, a sports reporter from England before moving to the States to become a general manager for professional soccer teams, has said the word soccer was used in England until the middle of the 20th century.

    <br style="font-size: 12px; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; ">Freedom of speech. The English don't rule the world anymore.

Fine post Mr Krung, I do agree with you on your posts, BUT

The Americans have their football, which is very popular, but how often is the foot used in the game.

The Aussies have their football, which is again very popular and the foot is used a lot more, but still the hands come into play a lot.

And don't even get me started on GAY-LIC football.

  19. Sweet, the new team is African! That means we'll be sure to rule the league next year, right? ;)

Seriously though...you mean we can go now to watch the tryouts and practices?? I don't suppose any of them happen on weekends? This sounds like just what I need to tide me over through this soccer/football drought until March...

No need to use the 'S' word. It is rude and offensive and it will not be tolerated. I believe that you are passionate about the team, but their is no need for foul and abusive language.

THE 'S' word is banned! Henceforth!

  20. The only time I ever go to Meechok is early morning for the lack of parking and that blasted cluster &lt;deleted&gt; of a market. For that reason I use Rimping on the river.

Easier still to use the one near the airport .....

I save money, and use the closed-branch, next to the Novotel, my ma didn't raise any stupid kids ! B)

if the guy is Scottish, then surely I can get a battered Mars bar or a battered Bounty. Just playing with you.It does happen, but it is a taste that suits a few. Now chip shop gravy is something I would pay for. I am a tight f### and very rarely pay for something that is western, but proper chip shop gravy is worth it's weight in gold. Not only do the shandy drinking puffs think that gravy is reserved for a Sunday Roast, but they think gravy is Bisto and they think wearing pink is cool.

    Northern Boys Love Gravy.

  21. fish sauce shouldn't be cooked anyway you just add it before serving or put it on the table just like prik nam pla and let people ruin their food themselves, it will be added in somtam of course.

since it is bad for the blood pressure i stopped using it without missing anything.

Sound, next time you you order some thai food tell them "mai sai nam pla" and they will look at you and say "alrai wa". Unless you know more than me. Which is quite possible actually. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Which I normally am, judging by all the know it alls on TV ( Not all Thai is food is made with fish sauce). (Oh and MSG) and (GM products)

Still it tastes good though. Well McDonalds tastes good, but is it good food?
