  1. OK, although I really wish I'd realised this difficulty a long time ago the answer seems to be clear - I need to buy a ticket from Thailand to Cambodia 30 days after I arrive to show proof of onward travel.

Travelling back from Cambodia - I imagine I will travel in through land in the last few days of August. Will there be any issues with re-entering Thailand by land 10-14 days after leaving it?

    Another option:

Depending on your ticket validity and airline you could initially book a return date within the 30 days and later change this date with the airline in Thailand.

  2. The house-master or the owner or the possessor of the residence must submit the form TM.30. When your wife, the owner, is away you are the house-master and possessor rolled into one and are qualified to submit the form. Can also be done by mail.

PS: Not sure about mailing the report. I guess it depends what the "regulations prescribed by the Director General" mentioned in section 38 of the Immigration Act say, but I have never seen a copy of these regulations.

But when you rent of an absentee landlord ??

I rent from a Thai lady who lives in Switzerland.. I have seen her twice in 4 years..

Do I need to do it for her ??

My suggestion is to submit the TM.30 in your own name, in your capacity as the possessor of the residence. When you rent a residence, the owner gives you possession of the place.

For what are the 90 days reporting then?

  3. How does this work if the owner of the house lives overseas?

It could be done by an agent or representative. Perhaps with a power of attorney.

    Agent?

I am living and working legally in Thailand for many years. My Thai wife who is legally owning the land is living and working in Germany for many years...

Of cause we are somehow registered in the village but... Have I to reregister my wife when she comes back in her home???

Additional due to my job I spent a lot of time in National parks living in tents? Who is registering me there...?

  4. Following scenario comes into mind:

Every morning in front of the dive shops herds of migrant workers (most likely not Thai do the job) awaiting the dive customers to get the 10 baht job. Same at Chalong Pier.. Everything according to the immigration motto - every dive customer his own Kuli.

When the boat is leaving Chalong Bay the work permit boat enters the dive boat to check if instructors are on board possibly intending to dive outside Phuket waters.....

  5. Good luck for the trip.

Made the trip with Thai people several times from Nepal and from China (ABC).

The key is the acclimation . Extra days are from advantage . Thais are not well adapted to low temperatures and often have the issue of "slow moving blood",

I think as outdoor specialist Kevin will know it.

However I wonder a bit why he doesn't has made a "high altitude' tour during her preparation i.e. to Mt. Kinabalu to check her response to higher altitude?
