  1. To OP

Does she intend to shave her head as well?

You better ask her, so you are not in for a shocker.

A friend of mine had his female friend doing this, and she came back with her head shaved.

She was wearing a wig for some time after that.

If she shaves her head then she wants to look soooo hansum, just like me :D

Oh, boy. A shaven headed woman. So romantic :)

  2. A cat attack can be vicious. All those claws and that hissing. It is like some demented animal coming at you and there seems no defence against this manic behaviour. When the claws rip into your flesh it is agony.

I had some idiot put his 'ratting terrier' over my gate one day (back home). He thought it would be fun for this dog to attack my cat. What he did not realise was we called her Animal for a reason :)

    She also had kittens.

That terrier never stood a chance. She ripped it to pieces in seconds.

The jerk then tried to have us pay compensation for the vets bills until witnesses came forward to say what he had done.

You gotta love cats. Independent, give you a fuss when they want to and you can rarely tame them.

Maybe this cat (in the topic) was protecting her kittens and when it saw the dog it attacked and when he picked up the dog, the cat attacked him.

  3. On a more serious note (after the cat food) :-

Thanks for the info above. At least I have a better understanding of why and that others do this regularly.

Maybe I will defer a holiday and let her go through this meditation process and feed her while she is there.

She has not been to the Temple for a while and maybe feels this is a way of atoning for that.

A week of peace and quiet, no nagging too, sounds a bit like heaven. Maybe Buddha isn't so bad after all :)

  4. I am looking for some insight into why the lady in my life wants to go to the temple for a week. She cannot explain it well enough for me to understand, so I am hoping some bright spark here might enlighten me :D

Something she also says about her being a Buddhist and me being one of those Christian people and harmony and some other stuff.

I cannot understand why she cannot go to the Temple on a regular basis like most other Thai people.

As it says in the topic, she will be eating and sleeping there for a week. Seems I will be required to take her food on a morning and afternoon too (but I've said I'd like to go on holiday while she goes through this).

My mention of going off on a holiday has rather upset the balance a bit :)

So if I know more what is happening, I could be better placed to understand. Ignorance can be bliss, but not always :D

    TIA.

Mods if you want to move this to Buddha's section then that is OK.

  5. Maybe an old one but I got it in an e-mail today and it made me smile

A man is in bed with his Thai-girlfriend.

After having great sex, she spends the next hour just stroking his dangly bit, something she had lovingly done on many occasions.

Rather enjoying it, he turns and asks her: 'Why do you love doing that ?'

She replies: 'Because I really miss mine...'

  6. I have to agree with everything you mentioned here, even the point of being too lazy to get a Thai License. I have also heard about the 3 month limitation.

It something I'll have to do soon. Although, getting the letter of residence / address from the Embassy, getting the medical etc.. seems like a lot of effort for a drivers license that lasts only one year.

It only last a year for the first year, then 5 years after that.. :)

    Not always.

I've had 3 licences now and all for a year a time :D

  7. G54,

Thanks for the extra news about the Thai owner having to forfeit 40,000 ฿. That's excellent news to hear.

Here in and around our newly built village, if a farang's dog bites a Thai person the farang automatically has to pay 12,000 ฿ plus, even for a minute scratch, but let a Thai person's dog bite you and take a chunk out of you, they simply laugh in your face. When you ask for compensation for innoculations they say, "Sorry we don't have any money."

Yeah, is often the case regarding money. At least the police are on this guys case.

An auto 12K fine? That certainly sounds steep - and unfair in the extreme - when you compare it to the Thai people who, as you say, turn around and say they have no money :)

  8. Sounds like she deserved to be locked up too. Mostly self inflicted. Hope she does not look for sympathy.

Street wise in England makes you ready to take on the worlds troubles? Now she knows better.

So upset at the suffering and exploitation behind the Thai sex trade? And many other comments she makes. Ahhh, they young think they know it all......

  9. Today, I was down the Soi where the book shop should be.

It was no longer there. Or at least I could not see it.

Maybe this has been reported before? As I have seen no mention of the shop being closed I thought it worth a mention here as people do ask for directions to the shop and I'd hate people to be driving around looking for it in vain.

If the shop has moved or whatever, then maybe someone has information about it.

  10. Nothing wrong with reporting it G54.

Once again we have an innocent child attacked by a dog and most probably scarred for life. Was the dog being supervised? dont think so. Once again the owner is to blame.

    Thx :)

I have to say that I feel for the child. The g/f told me today about the attack shortly after I read about it on here. Now, that child will grow up with a constant fear of dogs.

Imagine, this is Thailand and we all see dogs of varying sized roaming the streets. Often two dogs or more. For many of us this is not a problem, but for that little girl she will feel fear every time a dog goes near her. So almost every time she ventures out she will feel anything from a twinge of fear to outright terror, depending on what the dog does.

I heard also today that the woman attacked by the Rottweiler is now out of hospital and is under care of her family at home.

The owner is facing a hospital bill of 40,000 Baht as well as the loss of his dog, all because it was not under control and that is an expensive lesson for the majority of Thai people.

  11. For all of the non lovers of Rottweilers and Pit Bulls who were as quick as a flash of lightening, to report the story of the Rottweiler being shot by the Police for attacking a person. Well did you read any of the Thai National newspapers yesterday? It was reported that a St. Bernard dog in Prajobkirikan bit a young child fiercely on it's face so much so that the child needed 32 stitiches. Now these dogs were trained to go to the aid of injured Mountaineers in the Swiss Alps carrying a small barrel of brandy for the injured party to drink and keep warm until the rescuers found them.

You aren't so quick to report this news are you?

As I do not read Thai newspapers, I would not know. But as I live in Nakhon Sawan and the Rottweiler attacked a 60 year old woman here as she walked down her own street, minding her own business and she needed almost 100 stitches. The police shot the dog. I thought it worthy of reporting as a a bit of local news.

Where is the problem with that?

  12. you can get by on five hundred bt a day by yourself excluding rent and utilities.

I could do it on 200

    - 30 bt - cow car moo (thai leg of pork on rice with vegtables)

    - 140 bt - beer

    - 30 bt - rubber johnnies.

    Easy.

How do the rubbers taste? I suppose enough nam prik and just about anything tastes the same. Bit chewy though...

Strawberry flavour seems a favourite over here.

  13. I could not possibly imagine a Brit paying to marry a woman in this way. For your average Brit to be expected to pay, he would laugh at the idea. Many would tell her or you ( no insult intended ) to p*ss off back home if the sin sot was insisted upon.

I agree the man should be made aware of this idea but the mother should also be aware that we did away with such ideas many moons ago where the father paid a handsome sum to the man marrying his daughter.

Indians, Pakistanis and others have their own ideas on marriage and who pays what to whom, but that is between their own cultures.

  14. They also bite out of jealousy. When I was pregnant I thought it was a good idea to get a Dalmatian puppy trained up before the baby came. She was a beautifully tempered dog normally, but she became jealous once the baby started getting 'her' attention.

She didn't bite, she just nipped. Once. And while it was just the once, additional safeguards were ramped up immediately (she was closely watched before, but now total distance was put into place). It was an uneasy truce so I found her a home with a young, single guy who just happened to have dog handling experience (he made pocket money in high school by being at the receiving end of police dog training).

After that, it was cats and a female Doberman/Rottweiler/Alsatian mix. And that dog was a total woos! Even my cats would chase her around the yard...

And cats can be as bad, at times. I remember having a tortoiseshell cat that attacked the wife (ex wife) a few times. Also cats can be dangerous around babies.

Good cat, nice pussy cat. Kill!!!! :)
