Well now i found it and it is great. Pastrami, beef kabobs, smoked ham, baloney, curry sausage, and so much more .

The honey ham and smoked meats are great and the German items , susage and liver are the best i have ever tried.

  3. MR MOO in Pattaya has great pies Amer. pot pies , Brit. meat pies ( next to AAA Ins. across street from south Pattaya Big C ), full of meat chunks and great crust , microwave and eat , they do not turn to mush and are not all gravey , they give Bisto on side to add because there is so much meat in pies if you want more gravey to eat crust.......

Cornishes are like your Ause pies , they have them also .....hot and spice are great and all the meat types you are looking for .

PH# 0800168308 you can order and it can be shipped to you .........web page WWW.MRMOO.ASIA

They may be good but at 120 baht a pie they are way more expensive than their competitors. Are they really twice as good as all the rest? Most of the ones I have seen are in the 60-70 baht region.

i would say yes twice as good and as big

120 baht for 450-500 grams of meat and real crust , they give gravey packs on side as the pies are full of meat , not fat and gravey at 200-250 grams for 70 baht.

more than twice the meat at the price.

the cottage pies are 900 grams of all meat with great thin mash layer on top and is a great meal for 2 , gravey pack if you want.

  4. I haven't tried it yet, but I believe the Duke's Express in Bangkok in the Emporium shopping center has them on their menu....they call it a Reuben Pastrami...

See their menu for BKK here....

The burgers there, BTW, which I have tried, are delish!!!!

Try , Sub and suds in Pattaya , i do not have PH# but he is open 24 hrs and delivers 24 hrs, Soi Yamamoto

He has 100 plus items that are all US type, Philly cheese, patty melt, chile and breakfast egg/cheese and sasuage muffin,

i have tried a lot of his stuff and i have been happy.

He makes his own Pastrami , beef and it is good , i like that he uses rye bread when need or you can change to what you like ( roll , bun)

He does a great hot itialian , meat ball , cherzzo and so much i can not list .....but his pastrami is not as large as i would like so i alway order 2 , most would say normal size , but i am 6'2" and 210 + pounds so i do eat big...

  5. Under Section 214b of the US Immigration and Nationality Act, she will need to prove "strong ties" to Thailand, or another country abroad, and "weak ties" to the USA. Therefore, if you are from the USA, then YOU need to prove strong ties overseas as they will be looking at whether you will leave the USA and thereby bring her with you.

Obtaining a US tourist visa for a Thai national can be rather difficult, but it does happen.

As to the Department of Homeland Security office in Bangkok, they only handle immigrant visa matters where the US petitioner is a long term resident of Thailand.

It is generally unwise to make travel commitments prior to visa issuance as there are all sorts of unforeseen delays that can arise in the process as well as the possibility of outright denial.

I hope that this was helpful.

  6. "BUT HAVE A BUSS..."

    What does this mean?

    yes,

That is bussiness and she owns it and has a child is school , she runs shop and owns shop, we have acct, lawyer, and are completly legal

pay VAT, reg, and so forth.

I understand that main thing is to prove she will retun to Thailand and not just hide , i will by ticket and write a letter and we have to leave and return to business and child .

I also went to home land security and they said my security clearence and id will help but i wonder about getting interview?? i have appointment when i arrive at embasey to speak to them .

  7. "BUT HAVE A BUSS..."

    What does this mean?

I'm guessing it is slang for business.

However, whilst it is perfectly ok to own a business in Thailand and have no WP and if small enough even to pay no tax, you cannot use that income as proof of anything as technically, that "business" doesn't technically exist, it having no accounts, etc.

I'd say there is no chance of the OP getting his GF into the USA in May, even if he had years of history and all the paperwork.

  8. I HAVE LIMITED TIME TO GO TO THE US ....AS I DO NOT WORK IN THAILAND BUT HAVE A BUSS , GIRLFRIEND OWNS SHOP AND WORKS IT AND SHE HAS 9 YEAR OLD GIRL WHO WE HAVE IN SCHOOL.

I WILL ARRIVE MAY 3 AND STAY A WEEK , THEN I MUST GO SEE MOM IN US AND HER LAWYER AND THINGS FOR A WEEK AND RETURN TO THAILAND FOR A WEEK AND BACK TO WORK. HOW CAN I GET GIRLFRIEND A VISA TO GO WITH ME TO MEET MOM AND COME BACK TO THAILAND ?

IS THE TIME TO SHORT TO DO THIS ? IF WE START NOW ?

IS THE PROSSES TO LONG ?

I WORK FOR MILITARY SO MY MIL ID DOES HELP SOMETIMES WITH THINGS MAYBE THIS TIME..?

I SEE SHE CAN APPLY ON LINE AND GET APP... DO YOU KNOW HOW LONG THIS TAKES ,,,SITE SAYS 12-16 DAY ??

ANY INFO WILL BE OF GREAT HELP...

  9. Some people like Mikes. I am sure it is better than TR. I still haven't tried because many have said they have crap bland salsa and I can't be bothered with any Mexican place that doesn't take the basics seriously. I tried the Parrot years ago and found it disgusting. Basically, I have given up Mexican because I would rather have nothing than crap Mexican.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I did mikes, not bad but salsa was crap bland, and cabbage in the tacos ???? what the H%ll was that... TR was not bad , better salsa , not as good enculadas , so do as i do go to TR , get salsa , eat basic , tacos (better than mikes) and , take salsa to mikes and get enculada and put TR salsa on it and you have a 3 day go around between the 2 ,

both have good and bad , so take the good to the other and pass on the bad, i take tacoetos to TR to use there salsa and bring mikes guacamole.....it can make for more fun than you think, when you pull out from your bag food and order to use some of theres they look at you ,,,,,,and you look back.....now all i have to do is get them to warm the tacoetoes ......do you think...??? like the spanish spelling ...good uh

I spent 4 out of 6 meals in Bangkok at La Montoia and it was great, did sunrise ,,,,not bad,,,,tried others ,,,,but La Montoia the best.....

  10. i sent you a reply e mail.

    Thank you

    Mr Moo

I am sure someone will correct me, but I have always been under the impression that with any finished dairy product the quality of the milk is the key.

Chedder cheese has to be made with unpasturiesed milk, so if you can secure a supply you are half way there.

Cheddar to 99% of people, is an bright orange dyed plastic processed slab of soap in a plastic bag, quite simple to process in a factory.

Where as, in actual fact, it is a pale yellow aged cheese requiring a lot of hand fettling. Try Neils dairy in London for the real thing.

Parmasan cheese makers use a controled cow feed diet to ensure a consistent milk quaility for their cheese.

One of the best ice cream makers in the UK uses only fresh cream I.E no raw milk, to produce their ice cream.

The last time I looked at figures, 90% of raw milk and milk products sold in Thailand came from reconsituted powdered milk mostly from the EUC.

Perhaps someone has more up todate percentages

It is an admirable undertaken, and even if the finished product is not 100% the real thing, if it is taste wise ok, and priced at half the supermarkets going rate it will succeed.

Cheddar does not necessarily have to be made from Raw Cows Milk. Unless you can control the milk supply, I.E having your own herd and and are 99% sure on the health and sanitation of your cattle then I wouldn't even dream of using raw milk. Raw milk can be a breeding ground for E-coli, Salmonella, Listeria, to name but a few of the nasty pathogens

Raw cheddar producers normally start to produce their cheese within hours of the cows being milked. The reason being, once airborne bacteria finds it way into the milk, and it does this with an matter of minutes of leaving the udder!; The bacteria begins to multiple by the millions.

In my personal opinion It's not safe to use raw milk or even to risk it, especially over here in Thailand as its impossible to monitor the sanitation of the milk origins plus the climate here is very hot.

The milk we purchase is certified checked for micro bacterial pathogens at a lab and arrives in Raw "State" However, even though its checked, we still pasteurize it !

The last time I looked at figures, 90% of raw milk and milk products sold in Thailand came from reconsituted powdered milk mostly from the EUC.

I find this quote highly unlikely, how can it be Raw Milk if its reconstituted powdered milk?

One thing about Thailand is Milk is still quite expensive.. and to give you an idea..without all the the time and effort and all the other charges to add on top, it takes 10liters of milk to make 1kg of cheese, so producing traditional farmhouse cheddar is not as cheap as you would imagine!

Cheddar to 99% of people, is an bright orange dyed plastic processed slab of soap in a plastic bag, quite simple to process in a factory.

Yes you are correct, and to put everyone straight on that... This is defiantly not cheddar, (I hate seeing the word cheddar on these bags) Normally the wholesale "so called cheddar" is produced by repressing and reforming the off cuts from other cheese manufacturing process.

How this is done in the UK and I have seen this first hand, is once the huge slabs of cheese are ready for packing, they go through a pug with wire cutters to cut the blocks into the exact size an weight required for packing (usually for supermarkets) this leaves shards of cheese which goe into large 1 ton bins..Now the factory will either use the offcuts for processed cheese or as I said reformed cheese OR sell these bins to companies who specialize in processing cheese.

They will or should I say can add emulsifiers, colourings, flavourings and oil, (to add weight, ever wondered why your cheap cheese is so greasy) this in turn gets repressed, repacked and resold.

I have heard on the grape vine there is a company selling blocks of this so called cheddar marketing it as being from OZ when in facts its China? Its really cheap and as always.. you get what you pay for

Its a long post but to conclude, the name Cheddar has no legal control so anyone can call any cheese Cheddar and unfortunately market it as such

I have created a website with more information about our thailandcheese, pm if your interested....I don't think I would be allowed to put it on here?

  11. I am also looking for collagen casings or cleaned natural casings but having trawled through the internet can't find a supplier here in Thailand. Can anyone help with a contact number. Globo foods were helpful on the cure and seasons though.

  13. So what is your background? 4th generation English Cheese Maker from outside Gloucester or Stilton? 5-year Apprenticeship?

3rd Generation actually, my parents ran a small dairy farm in Staffordshire and I attended Reasheath Agricultural College in Nantwich and studied cheese manufacturing under Chris Ashby. I left farming some years back and got into I.T. I`m still relatively young (30's) I own a couple of fairly successful websites which allows me to stay in Thailand with my wife and 2 children, the websites don't need much more than a couple of hours a day of my attention, so I have lots of free time. So I am thinking, quality UK farmhouse style cheese seems like a good business idea to me.

on a side note, I am still waiting for my Vats, I have vacuum machines, refrigerated storage setup..and I still havn't come up with a name yet!

    Nick

    Nick,

    I hope you do well

  14. Bonobo, you need to get around more :)

Well, perhaps you can enlighten me as where to get a decent burger here? The best I have had might be at the BBQ Sandwich King, but the one I just had in Manila was not only better, but about 100 baht cheaper.

Actually I meant to post more than just the comment that you need to get around more, which looks rather rude by itself, and was not intended to be. :D What I meant to say was that a lot of places in Thailand use imported USDA-grade American beef for burgers or otherwise. Last time I had a burger at the Hard Rock Cafe in Bkk, for example, they used US beef. Australian beef is also not uncommon, and very good.

Last week I had an excellent burger at Bistro M, behind Emporium on Suk soi 24 (good restaurant btw, with good pricing). Didn't notice whether the menu stated the origin of the beef but it was one of the better hamburgers I've had in awhile.

So if a burger made with US beef tastes better in the PI than here, it would tend to support the argument that it's the cooking more than it is the beef.

Re 'Texas beef,' plenty of Mexican beef is imported to the US and eaten by Americans who don't know the difference. I'm betting that if an adept chef cooked a slab of good Sonoran beef and one of Texas beef, then served them to you side by side, you wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Or you might even prefer the Sonoran beef. Texas longhorns hail from Spain, by way of Mexico :D as did the original culutre of ranching, cowboys and buckaroos (vaqueros).

Mexican cattle are continually imported to the US as feeder and stock cattle as well. About 45 % of all Mexican cattle imports end up in Texas. So it really means little to call an animal 'American' or 'Texan.'

More info on the strong relationship between Mexican and US beef cattle:

    http://www.ers.usda.gov/publications/agout...2001/AO282d.pdf

Mexican beef is classified in four major styles:

    "Carne Norte" (Northern Style)

    – American style, more fat and some marbling

    • "Carne de Engorda" (Mexican Fed Beef)

    – Finishing in feedlots or on pasture with supplementation

    – Little fat (but white) and no marbling

    • "Carne Tradicional" (Traditional Beef)

    – Grass finished

    – Little fat (yellow) and no marbling

    • "Carne de Vaca" or "Carne de Desecho"

    – Cull cow and bull beef

Unfortunately Mexican beef is not available here :D

At any rate, US beef is readily available in Thailand for those who want to pay the import premium. I've had burgers made with ground Thai sirloin cuts that are as good as any burgers I've had anywhere, all depending on the preparation.

what if i told you i have french Charley hear in Thailand PURE BREAD , bread for eating , not cheap , that is why i have opted not to Slater for this fall, but 30 day aged rib eye with tail 2 in thick marbled , the feed and type do matter , also the cooking and aging

most meat hear is cut to thin 1 in min. is best, but , i will bet the grill flavor is what was tasted not the meat,

BBQ is the only way to make a burger or steak , or open flame at least,

BEEF IS BEEF ......tell that to Japan,,,Kobe beef ,,,,,that was stupid .....there are breads for eating , milking, working, .....beef is not beef......

tell that to ans Angus cattle rancher , then ask why his beef cost more per pound , or Kobe, or Charley, if beef was just beef then you could get as good a Thai beef as any other place ....DO YOU????

Mmm getting hungry. I also wanted to thank Mr. Moo for the Tres Generaciones tequilla last night and the Cohiba. Man you made my entire month!!! I'm thinking to either make empanadas or enchiladas for next weeks special. Does anyone have a preference?
