  1. Just changed my hotel to move into one provided by TAT in Pattaya, accommodation and food for free, all well so far,its the least Thailand can do to stranded guest in their country.

Now the hotel want to charge me B900 a DAY to use the internet in my room.

I tried explaining to the manager that its needed urgently for my work and business, and that Thailand has already cost me and thousands others a lot of money, and they should assist as much as they can

Its just like they are trying to make money out of my predicament, the image of Thailand already damaged badly has not gone up in my opinion when you get treated like this, and i will make my feelings well and truly known to the hotel when i get back home .

I am just a hard working guy and it took me a long time to save to come on this trip, and I've already had to draw on emergency money i cannot afford

I have heard that immigration are "waiving" overstay fees for the affected passengers. Now there is the question you raise that you are using the Internet for work. Are you being provided with a work permit for this work you are doing whilst stranded here? or are all immigration rules out the window.

  2. What happened to Global Warming! :o

    Not widely reported (surprise!!)

Global warming per se ended in 1998 and the Earth has entered a natural cycle of Global Cooling.

Better get out the long johns and thermal underwear

  3. Please be VERY VERY careful

The pictures are not too clear but if there was an older bitch then this could be the same mob who stole my mobile a couple of months ago on Soi Bukhao.

A week later the same mob got on the Baht bus on the way to Jomtien

I caught the old bitch with her hand in my pocket and grabbed her arm

She pulled a mean looking knife from her bag and lunged at me - no threating posture - just a straight forward attack

Please be careful - these are no ordinary pickpockets

  4. I use to get taxis from BKK to Pattaya and vice versa - but now, gone are them days for me. I now get the bus from Pattaya 100 - 150 baht, very pleasant with sometimes a free drink served, air con ect... There is also a bus from Pattaya directly to the Airport Entrance, very reliable. Just had to do it as i am currently back in the UK due to my father passing away suddenly - i preferred the bus. I am not tight, just seems stupid paying all that taxi fare, when the bus is much cheaper and gets you to your destination. I suppose its up to each individual really but just wanted to give my opinion, so no sarcastic comments please at my sad loss. I am only trying to help others and i hope you get sorted.

My condolances for your loss - I hope your return journey has a happier purpose

As to taxi from Onnut - I have done this several times when I lived at Onnut especially if there were two or three of us and lazy to face the traffic to Ekami and the traffic back along Sukhumvit to Bang Na

A tip - 9-11 am is a good time to negotiate a good price

The drivers are hitting a slump after rush hour and they know that by arriving in Pattaya around noon they will more than likely get a quick return fare as folks check out the pattaya hotels.

I paid around 1200 Baht and once managed 1,000 - the driver was very pleasant and earned his extra tip
