Since the recent "takeover" of the main International Airports I seem to have noticed a marked improvement in the attitude of Thais towards foreigners, is it my imagination or has anyone else noticed this?
Noticed a small hint of extra friendliness at our bank recently. Aside from the occasional routine stare, I've seen no deviations from the kind and polite behavior we receive where ever we go.

Worked hard during my youth as a self-taught computer programmer. Was lucky enough to retire at a young age, subsequently visiting Thailand as a part of my "Visit All Countries Starting With The Letter 'T' Tour ." Met and married the woman of my dreams.

Fight fire with a bigger fire. It may cost you a small chunk of cash to forklift and install giant sub woofers and tweeters facing the karaoke, but the expressions on the bar customers' faces after you blast a version of "Alvin and the Chipmunks" day after day will be priceless!

I wonder if this so-called "PAD" leader is short THB?

Bad headline. The price of gold hasn't 'surged'.
It has crept back to the level that it surged to in March 2008 (in response to the Bear Sterns shock, and from which it retreated very quickly) and has now gone just a touch higher to bring it to its record level in Thai currency.
Having said that, some of us are not surprised. Review the thread 'Get out of $dollars$ now' that started in July 2006, for instance.
A more accurate headline would have been "gold currently enjoying a deadcat bounce" It appears the dead cat bounce didn't last very long though, as gold is already on the way back down. I hope that some of you that were still holding the precious metal took this opportunity to bail out of gold!
The real question is where do people park one's wealth. It's easy to make predictions based on a two week trend. Those exiting gold positions entirely may in fact be in desperate need of cash. Who knows?

Sawatdee khrap.
I am interested in buying and selling gold coins, whether it be Krugerrands, American Eagles, Maple Leafs or Chinese Pandas. Are there storefront locations within the Bangkok province that buy and sell coins with reasonable markups?
Thank you in advance.

Gold must be declared. "Must" gold be left at the airport, or "can" it be left at the airport? What if the departure Airport differs from the one where the gold was left?
