  1. Yeah that's what I thought. If anyone here got 2013 in their book please state it here. Thx.

You may not have 2013 in your green book on page 4 but how about page 5?

Does it show a Thai Month & the year 2556? If so that is 2013

If it shows 2055 then 2012

Also on page 4 upper left corner may have 2556 after day & month in Thai  also which is date of reg ( วันจดทะเบียน )

It would not affect your resale price as there is no such bike as a 2012 CBR500 X or F etc

I'm gonna try to ask my gf or someone in my buildings office to read it for me so I can check it out.

  2. I got a copy of my green book and the real book is coming soon they say. Should I be concerned about that it says make of 2012 and not 13?

I can't find no place on the bike where you can see the year make.

It doesn't matter, all these first 500 series Honda's say 2012 in the Greenbook but they are in fact 2013 models because in 2012 they where not being sold yet.  It happens sometimes when new products are released at the beginning of a new year, manufacturer was producing the product end of 2012 so that they had stock to push out to the dealers for 2013 release date.

Same thing happened to me, doesn't change anything, my bike is 2 months and 2 weeks old, that is new and there have been no changes to the bike since release.  I don't know of anyone at this time who's greenbook says 2013 yet.

Yeah that's what I thought. If anyone here got 2013 in their book please state it here. Thx.

  5. I'll send the number today, just looked at my Green book again, thought I did a good job last time and unbelievably they listed that it's a 2012 bike and not a 2013...  Does anything in Thailand get done right the first or second time - it appears not unless you are standing right there ensuring the quality of work...  Back to Honda again, not their fault but man this is stupid...

I guess they like making new books LOL - this will be the 3rd one...

Maybe its a late end 2012 model of the bike but in the US its called a 2013 model. No just kidding! A wrong is always wrong. Have it fixed and tell them to compensate something

  6.  If they really gave you a new book without just correcting in the old then wow amazing! !

I have bad experience about any service in thailand but yet I still love Thailand and planning to live here until my last day to come. Having that said I think honda could do so much better!

That's why I said good luck with that! The part when he wrote that's what we pay honda for "our service" . its no good service to expect from honda!

Maybe I sounds to negative about them now but I had to say it! Costumer service is crap! !

Sorry to hear about your bad experience, to be honest, Big Wing here in Pattaya I am very happy with.  I have never had an issue with them yet, always very polite and easy going.  Maybe the rest of Honda needs to send their staff here for training.  It's actually good here especially when compared to Kawasaki across the road.  Funny thing is that they are both owned and operated by the same family, would think the standard would be the same but it's definitely not.

Yes I have heard good feedback from big wing dealer at pattaya! And my big wing dealer in bkk even told me that I could go there for service as I was told it will be faster and often no que to wait.

What a bunch of muppets just talking like this!

If u have the pattaya big wing office nr I would be glad to have it. Might just book a time there for my valve clearance check of 1000km. Mine is abit more than 2000 km now so I dont want to wait to much longer. My dealer gaved me 1month in que and I just missed my time cause of work and the next appointment is in a weeks time.

Also still waiting for my green book..

XASTUNT - not sure what your issue is here, I took my book back to Honda and they did get it fixed so what is the problem, new book and not some handwritten correction?  Hand written corrections in a book for a new bike, no way I would except it and I know I could get them to correct it (oh I have) and I am just some foreigner and not a Thai so I get less service than they do LOL.

    ^^^^^^^ REDICULOUS

All I can say is bring you Kawa 250 and we will go for an easy ride, you will see that this statement is not ridiculous.  I'm in Pattaya and available just about every day.  4th Gear - 40km/h both of us, you gas yours and I gas mine, I will immediately pull away from 3500RPM your 250 won't even start speeding up for 4-5 seconds and it will be slow as mud if you haven't already stalled out prior.

Hahaa!! One guy saying ridiculous and another defending his own ass!! Lmao this thai Visa surely is a debate heaven! !

Yesterday I been to collect my green book at big wing pattaya and I saw they wrong about number of cylinders

I want ask if anyone in this community had same problem and if you think it could bring me some trouble???

    Thank you in advance

Looks like it has been corrected already.

But only corrected in the typically lazy Thai bureaucratic style. Brand new bike and book should not be altered by hand and stamped.

    Sent from my i-mobile i-STYLE Q6

I would take it and have them issue you a brand new book, you don't want any issues in the future and anything hand written into a Green Book as a correction would seem questionable.  You try to sell the bike in the future you don't want any issues and who is to say the person that did that manual correction will even have that same job years from now and even if they did would remember that they are the ones who hand wrote that into the book...  Don't think you will have any issue with this request, have Honda sort it out for you, this is part of the service you paid them for.

    Good luck with that! :)

  10. just post the link here.

but leo vince corsa is made in indonesia but leo vince lv is a good product.

2 bros is OK but i will go for a full system. now waiting for power commander to release an ecu for cbr500r. They have already one they use in junior cup  cbr500r bikes but they are trying to get rid of O2 sensor full and then they will release it, maybe a month or so.

Isnt the full system about 5 to 7hp gain at the most and the slip on about 1.5 to 2hp gain?

And changing the ecu and playing with a power commander says good bye to the warranty for sure!! I heard that with a fullsystem its using much more fuel to. I guess its good if ur doing race on track but just for normal riding and cruising I think we dont really need a full system.

But maybe I should wait then?

Anyway im sure I wanna get the two bros slipon the black carbon looks and sounds fukkin awsome

I saw a video on YouTube that had a link to a thai shop a fb page link. Let me check later if I find it and I will post it here. I had the leovince lv2 evo something like that it was called both slip on and fullsystem offered.

But im already dreaming on my pipe now! Its for sure its gonna be the black carbon 2 bros pipe. Looks and sounds awsome. Just a slip on and dont need to worry about the ecu reprogramming and changing the fuel maps. Two brothers is the way to go!!

  12. So to buy a Honda from a Bigwing where do you have to go?

    Where are the Bigwing centres?

I guess Bangkok, Patts and CM but where else in the country are there Honda Bigwings?

Is there a list online as I cannot find it after an initial look.

Personally I want to know the nearest place to Ubon Ratchathani.

All branches would be nice though.

    Thanks

  13. What's the news about full system exhaust for the cbr 500 at the moment? I know we got big wings moriwaki and mugen, and k speed have their crappy bizumo and cng (slip on). Any news from corse exhaust? If you check on YouTube there is a black two brothers pipe on the cbr.

Leo vince gp corsa full carbon :

Two bros looks really good imo. But it's a bit to quite. Maybe with the full system it will sound abit better.

    2hp gain at 5000k rpm though :)

  14. You must be a Canadian giant, Im 5'-8" and the X feels all wrong to me. The CBR 500 though, feels like we should be together and live happily ever after.

You been to Thailand? I thought you lived in Canada.

I'm a middle sized Aussie living in Chiang Mai most of the year. I think I know what you mean by the feeling - it does feel like you are more part of a bike when your more of your weight is over the front end, but I find that is tiring for longer distances, and leads to back pain if the angle is too steep. A few hours on the X and I think you adjust to the different weight distribution.
hmmm...i prefer to have the handlebars lower, to me its less strenuous after a few hours, opposed to having to hold your arms higher up.

    I have long arms though.

The X definately has a comfy seat though ! But the R is point and shoot !

Comfy seat?? It might be soft to sit on but it's abit loose and moves around. It should be rock solid and stay on its place! And the beginning of the seat just at the tank is a pure joke. It's spread open and doesn't seems like a good job at all. If I had the x bike I would be the first in que to get a good quality aftermarket seat.

  15. Question, so the new CB500 have a 9000RPM rev limiter?

if so, that really really sux!

anybody now, if there any way to remove it? Im planing to buy a big bike by the end of the year...

in that case I might just for a Z250, assuming it does not have rev-limiter...

I'll say go and rent it a day in Pattaya and you should now if that bike is for you or not. The engine is designed to have its redline at about 9k rpm so it's not restricted.

  16. @xastunts: You need to learn Bkk traffic better me thinks.

I used to ride my Honda Airblade scooter to work in Bkk everyday and back for about 4 years. This involved Sukhumvit rd, Rama IV, Silom rd or maybe Sathorn rd sometimes. Some of the busiest roads in Bangkok. These trips were in morning rush hour traffic. I then bought a new Honda CBR150 and for 2 years, I arrived at work much faster. Yes that's right, even fast than on my scooter. I now have a new Ninja 250 that is even wider and heavier than the CBR. I now arrive at work even faster. I know, it's quite unbelievable. The Ninja can cut between cars just as easy as my scooter but also much faster. Those little bursts of quick acceleration that you may need to get into gaps between cars that emerge is a big advantage compared to a scooter. And when the traffic does open up a bit I am gone, leaving the scooters far behind, which can make all the difference when you need to make the changing green lights etc. But there are other riders that I see passing me by in Bkk morning rush hour traffic and they are usually riding Ninja650s or ER6Ns.

In conclusion, you have no idea what you are talking about and/or you need to improve on your city riding skills.

U can try to prove to urself or others that's its faster on bigger bike but dont u understand that everyone have their own way of perspective! !

Im done with this stupid talk about faster in traffic with bigger bike! I said it before and now I have to say it again!! the smaller the size of the vehicle the faster in tight traffic! Give me a racer bicycle and I be there before you for sure! Even have time to make some tv posts about it before I see you arrive.

I dont wanna hear it no more that I need to learn how to drive in traffic!

I think you haven't ridden in real traffic in BKK.

I can't count the times that I was stuck behind a scooter because he couldn't get through and don't get me started on PCX's.

Worst traffic bikes ever. My 500 just cuts through it and that was with stock mirrors, I changed them to something smaller now, so the cutting will be even easier.

I agree on mirrors, they stick out 10 feet from bike, what did you change them to?

Xastunts - My collague (Thai) had a massive Ducati 848 and he was slighty ahead of me in rush hour traffic grid locked most times on Rama 9 when I was on the 150 and had silly mirrors There weren't any scooters getting through faaster. And that bike is huge, it vibrates the ground and you can hear the clucking 500m away.

middle Sukhumvit at rush hour you ain't going nowhere on a CBR though, most of the time you can't even get through on a scooter unless you pavement hop. I try avoid it completely, asoke montri and ratchada is bad enough.

At least ur fair an admit it! In sukhumwit ur better off with a bicycle. And of course there are roads that even a fat Harley Davidson will go through vipavadi rangsit etc.

There is always mostly a way to get through even with sports bikes in high traffic. But!!! It's not comparable to the small size bikes period! !

The smaller the better in traffic! Best is bicycle for ur own understanding to compare.

Jesus christ! You really love your bike that much that you can't admit a defeat when there is one!

I love my bike to! But I'm not a fool to fool my self that is faster than my scooter in traffic.

I have a CB500F not a CBR, I think my advantage also lies in the fact that I can move my mirrors around the car mirrors because they are on my handlebars.

Now I changed them to bar end mirrors, even better :-)

The f looks smaller yes. Maybe even better in traffic compared to the cbr but u cant compare these bikes to a scooter traffic wise period!!!! :)

  19. How much did honda big wing pay you for that review? Joking! Posted Image I intended to buy the touring x model at first it was a close call in the decision. I wasnt happy with the build if quality and especially the seat was abit loose and moving. Didnt look as rock solid as the seat of cbr500 and the full fairing just made me think I get some quality for the money compared to the x Wich has some cheap plastic Looks for fairing (whole body).

If the quality was abit better like closer to the Versys I would definitely get the x.i always wanted the versys but it's out of the budget range for me at the moment. There was a time when I had those cash and could spend 400k in cash for a car. But not these days Posted Image

Agree with the perceived quality, again though, it's over 100k baht cheaper Posted Image...  I prefer my CBR500r to, while the X is actually nice to ride it's really intended for the road which is why it's not so heavy duty as compared to the Versys.  It's just depends on what you want, I don't drive off road so CBR is good for me, some people like the looks of the X though, appears to be a multi-purpose bike like the Versys.  At the end of the day though it would go through most reasonable stuff off-road.

I tend to look at things from a cost versus purpose perspective.  Given where and how a lot of people drive in Thailand the Honda 500 series are a great choice especially considering the price, the Kawa 650, great bikes, excellent build but price is higher and I myself don't see the advantage unless you really like a big twin, some people do, some people don't.

One of my biggest concerns with the CBR is the strong wind resistance im getting when cruising at about 130kmph + it starts gets abit uncomfortable.

I know that with the x I could replace the tiny windshield for a huge one like those modded versys have.

And also for those huge side rack bags its perfect for those trips when you need to carry half you're wardrobe of you're thai gf clothes and make up :) .

I have seen some models of side bags for the sports bikes on panda rider's website though. They are smaller and looks better on a sport bike than those squarred givi bags does.

I have also seen a big luggage rack in the back middle behind rear seat with back lean cushion. It fits 2 full face helmet I think it was from the brand shat but not sure if I spelled that right. I think I'm gonna get that one too start with and a pretty huge tank bag.

Do you have any bags for ur cbr yet? :)

  20. I have owned a Versys and my Thai friend has let me ride his CB500x... I of course currently have a CBR500r...

    Versys:

Feels heavy at slow speeds and is very tall. Very comfortable when on the open road, the 650 twin engine vibrates a lot but that is normal given it's a big twin, feels powerful but it is a 650 twin so I think it has more to do with the thumping sound of the exhaust making it feel powerful; there is plenty of power for everyday riding though, more than the Honda because it's of course a bigger engine. I thought it was terrible in heavy traffic, hard to park and get out of a parking spot because of the weight. It's a great bike but my opinion built more for the open road and a little cross country off road action. It feels and is a very solid machine structurally.

    CB500x:

Feels very light and neutral even in heavy traffic but like the Versys unless you are a very skilled rider making a tight low speed turn can be challenging - you don't feel like you will fall over though on the CB500x like you do on the Versys in certain situations. ABS is very good on the Honda, Versys ABS kicks in and you know it and it will surprise you, Honda very light actuation not startling like the Kawa. On the highway, very comfortable but a lighter feel than the Versys, Versys seems to ride better because it feels heavier and the suspension is definitely of higher caliber given it's somewhat adjustable to the riders wieght. Power, although not as powerful as the Kawa there is plenty of power available for just about any riding condition. Bike is also lower to the ground so makes it easier for shorter riders to handle it when stationary at a stoplight or other lower speeds.

Both bikes are great. I think given the price point the CB500x wins for me. I did enjoy my Versys but the main reason I sold it was because I just couldn't ride it comfortably in all conditions, the CB500x really sort of solves that for this category of bike, of course just comparing these two bikes and no others. End of the day it really depends on what type of riding you want to do and what your willing to live with, you can't go wrong with either one.

How much did honda big wing pay you for that review? Joking! :) I intended to buy the touring x model at first it was a close call in the decision. Ive kept quiet due to lack of owing one (yet) but theres a lot of idiocy going on in this thread.  Honda has went to an all digital dash for their 500 seriesdeal with it.  Just for the record Ducati, Kawasaki, KTM, Suzuki, Yamaha, and EBR (and probably more) all have digital dashes.

And for the numpties that say that MotoGP has tachsgoogle it.  Theyre digital just the same.  And the shift lights?  Programmed for different gears and according to the sprocket ratio.  Are you going to spend the time to do that?  I want to say that they are also programmed for different sections of the particular track being rode but am unsure.  Reason they have shift LIGHTS is so they don't have to look at the tach. Much easier to have something flashing in your peripheral vision than spending the ~10 meters looking for information. Finally few, if any, of those bikes have a real RPM limiter; miss a shift on your street bike and youll look silly as the engine cuts out; do that on a race machine and watch it catastrophically detonate under you while youre traveling at speeds those moar RPM street posers have wet dreams about.

Im not even a good rider, but understand how to feel a bike.  If you cant get the RPM range down in 30 minutes perhaps you shouldnt be riding.  The only time I look at the display is when it feels like I am in too low of a gear (less of a problem now that the sprockets have been adjusted to my liking) or when I am up riding in the mountains and want to make sure that the engine wont be lugging under my fat arse.

Alot of hard work finding all those photos to prove you're right! ;)
