Make it clear that you wanted to report on Friday, and given the circumstances I think there is a very good chance they will be lenient.

Apparently the new office is open. See report here: http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/927904-new-ratchaburi-immigration-office/?do=findComment&comment=11098908

Thanks again elviajero. I checked it out and saw posts from people who have used the new office. That is where I am headed tomorrow.

  2. Hello, I have to do my 90 day report tomorrow, October 17. Is the new Thai Immigration Office open in Ratchaburi, or do I continue going to Nakon Pathom?

Also, my due date was October 9 (happens to be a Sunday), meaning I had until the 16th . With the offices being closed on Friday, the 14th, I understand I have until the 17th with no fine.

    Does this sound right?

    Thanks for the help.

  3. Hello,

I have a Lenovo Yoga 8 Tablet with DTAC Internet service that I have been using in Thailand. I am now in the US, and I want to use the tablet here for about a month for Internet, and if possible, as a phone. I went to a Walgreen's Drug Store, and they had some sim cards on a rack, but neither they nor I knew whether one of those cards would work in my tablet.

Can someone tell me exactly what I have to ask for and what kind of shop I should go to to get a sim card for the Internet and also so I can make and receive phone calls.

I do know how to remove the sim card that is in it now. I just don't know what to buy to put in its place. I only need it for about a month, then I am returning to Thailand.

    Thanks a lot.

  4. I want a land line phone with voice mail. One way I thought of is to get a land line phone when I visit the US and bring it back here. Does anyone know whether that phone will work in Thailand?

Maybe there is a land line phone with voice mail available in Thailand. Anyone know of one with the voice mail on the phone itself?

As an aside, I am less and less able to navigate this forum. Now when I go to thaivisa.com, I get a page of ads with no options to proceed to the forums. It must be there. I am just not astute enough to find it.

Thanks for any help on the phone issue.

  5. Go to your local Amper 'Town Hall' they will issue you with the right paper work as before no charge but a tip go's a long way.

Great answers from everyone. Thank you very much. It looks like it will be a lot easier and simpler than I had thought.

Follow up. The ampeur told me to get a document from the apartment building owner stating that I was a resident. It took a few months and one re-run because of a discrepancy with the address, but with that document, everything went smoothly. Ampeur for a document, then to the license bureau.

    Thanks again.

  6. Thanks for all of the replies. I just downloaded VLC, and that did the trick.

    <script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>

I am not certain of the answer, but will have an educated guess... the audio file format is not supported by your player.

Try this; it supports a large number of formats:

    https://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-android.html

I've never used VLC player on an android device but on my PC it plays every format I ever tried. Your problem maybe flashplayer based tho'

No problems travelling from France to the US, though she will need to get a Schengen Visa to cover her stay in France.

To get that she will need to apply via the TLS Contact Centre in Bangkok https://www.tlscontact.com/th2fr/login.php, she could in theory apply directly to the French Consulate.

She will need to provide proof of her travel plans, essentially hotel and flight details, proof of insurance and sufficient funds for her stay in the Schengen Area.

I don't know about the side trip to Canada, but with a US Visa, previous travel to the US and maybe a Schengen Visa, I don't see it as being a problem.

Thanks a lot to theoldgit and to Thanyaburi Mac. It sounds like it won't be a problem, and we can confirm it ahead of making plans with the steps that you mentioned.

  8. Great. I will try that. Thank you.

    Its an Android device.

You forgot to mention, that these three options are referring to three different PDF readers.

On the Adobe Website they offer "Adobe Reader IX for Android 2.3.3 and above".

    More than 100 million downloads.

Have you installed and tried that?

    Would be my first idea.

Hi Ben, that did the trick. Thanks a lot. I am brand new to Android, and now I won't ignore the offer for "Apps" that I am continually seeing. Is there somewhere I can go for a general tutorial on using a Lenovo? Or maybe I just need a tutorial on Android. I am learning little by little, and it is nice not having to fire up my notebook whenever I want to go on line.

    Thanks again.

  9. This is a duplicate post. I posted it as a Reply before I learned how to Start a New Topic. (Thanks George.)

Here is my question / problem. I have a Lenovo Yoga 8 Model B6000-HV Tablet.

I downloaded a PDF file from my email. The file has English and Thai script. When I try to open the file, I am asked to choose between three ways to open it.

One way gives me the ability to navigate (quick scroll to any page by grabbing the slide bar), but this way doesn't display the superscripts and subscripts on the Thai letters.

Another way displays those scripts, but I can't navigate to a page. All I can do is continue to scroll down by swiping the screen, a couple of pages at a time. There are over 1000 pages in the document, so this is not too handy.

The third way puts me into a cyclic loop from the Download Folder to the 'Office' folder.

    Any help?

  10. I don't know how to post a new topic. Sometimes I happen onto the NEW TOPIC button, but I can't find it when I want it.

  11. According to my experience, Mario is correct. I came back from Malaysia by train one time, and I automatically got a fifteen day stamp. And, as I understand the built in pitfall, you need 21 days remaining on a visa to get an extension at Thai Immigration.

If flying is an option, I would definitely do that.

I think they shortened the land entry visa to fifteen days to automatically foil the frequent 'border-run' by land method of achieving an extended stay in the kingdom.

More about my story. I actually had a retirement extension to my visa, but the Immigration Officer at the border did not see it in my passport and just gave me a fifteen day stamp, and I was not savvy enough at the time to monitor what they were doing at the border. I ended up having to go to Thai Immigration in Bangkok and having them make a correction to the fifteen day stamp. Since that time, I know exactly where my visa stamp is in my passport, when it expires, etc.

  12. Friends plan to travel round trip from the US to Thailand, arriving in Thailand September 5, and departing Thailand for the US on December 4.

Just looking at this ticket, it would appear that a visa extension would be needed, since it would be about a three-month trip..

However, they also have a round trip ticket from Bangkok to Malaysia, departing BKK October 29 (less than 60 days after arriving from the US), and returning to BKK on November 28.

They are concerned that when someone in Thailand Immigration looks at their primary ticket, showing around 90 days elapsed time, they may balk at granting a 60 day visa. Logically, it would seem that someone could look at both tickets and piece it together that they will be in Thailand for two stays, both under 60 days.

Any opinions or suggestions on this would be appreciated.

    Thanks a lot.

  13. As long as you know when it is, they'll let you in without it, most likely even without checking if you're a US citizen.

Just show up at least 20 minutes beforehand in case there's a long queue to pass through the security screening.

Oh, that is good to hear that I can get in without the paper.

    Thanks for both answers.

  14. Hello,

This sounds like it should be simple, but...

Can someone tell me how to reprint my appointment confirmation for ACS at the US Embassy. If your instruction is "log in", please tell me exactly how and what to do to log in. I see everything except how to log in and reprint my appointment notice.

    Thank you in advance.
