  1. Farang cannot meet the requirements of owning a handgun in Thailand under most circumstances, but those working for the police or military may have special permits granted.

But if your married to a Thai girl who owns her own home, has a business and a decent sum of money in the bank she can apply for the license.   It can take a year to get the license and lots of paperwork.

Then you can go down to the gun shops in Charoen Krung Rd  and get royally screwed on what you choose.  Of course you can buy something of Chinese origin and get less screwed, but best case scenario is you will pay 3 times as much for a hand gun as you would in the USA.

BIL bought a Beretta 92 and without accessories or ammo it was almost 110k baht.

  2. I was aware of the Thai custom with regard to 'Sinsod' so I said to the wife when we have our village wedding the Sinsod is for show and at the end of the day it comes back to me.  We are married at the Amphur which takes half an hour and some paperwork before hand.

But my wife doesn't want a village wedding.......yes really!   Her view is we can put 100k baht to better use than feed a lot of bludgers and ply the local alcoholics with whisky.

Of course the step-daughter has just got married and the bin for that was 120k baht for 150 guests.  I kicked in some coin thinking we would be seeing the back of her and the new husband but I was mistaken.....as I often am!   A conscript in the Thai army is on a rather low income and he has a year to go.  Then after that, a grand income of 300 baht a day will be his lot.  We haven't lost a daughter but gained another dependent!

So, marriage can be a serious business for a Thai girl.....and it can be serious for the farang por!

  3. Brazing aluminium......just so you get to experience the hell that will be, for practice sharpen a bamboo stick and go into the jungle and find a big bull elephant and start poking it with the bamboo stick!

Or alternatively, find your local aluminium guy with a TIG welder and pay him 500 baht to do the welding.

And yes, I to have brazed aluminium in the distant past.  :saai:

  4. " The Italian-made steel frame " Really!   So why didn't they pop down the road and get an Italian engine that may have given it just a smidgen of credibility.   Reminds me of the muppets in Thailand that put a Toyota diesel into a MB.  They may think it's grand but most people think it's a bit wacky!

  5. I remember the first time I rode up to the wife's village in a mini-van.  The what sounded like metal to metal contact when he hit the brakes was disturbing,  more so his idea of undertaking everything instead of waiting a few seconds and overtaking. But what can one expect from a guy with red line road maps for eyes......I was assuming his best friend is Johnny Walker.

  6. I've had this PCX 150 from new.  It's been serviced regularly and is running really good.  Has Michelin tyres fitted about a year ago and a new battery.   Just over 37k on the speedo.  Been dropped once.

Needs a new front mudguard and the right hand body work needs some screws to make it right.    It's located in Noen Maprang, Phitsanulok.   I am back in Australia and it only gets limited use.

    Price is 25.000baht

For inspection you can contact my wife, Tik, on 0830829757

  7. It's probably just a 30 second grab on the nightly news that will be forgotten in 6 months as you cannot replace the vans with small buses on such a grand scale in that time.  If you went to the bus sales places today you could probably count the total in all of LOS on your fingers and toes!   They probably know it's unworkable.  Anyway the solution is to fix the nut behind the wheel.......not new buses.

  8. I think Abhisit has an honest face.....but like all politician's the world over he is, in all honestly, out for what he can get!

The PM on the other hand has a 'poker face'.   One could say he has everything, but probably wants more....power, money that is.....

That's what it comes down to.....power, money.....irrespective of ones face.

The ordinary people of Thailand see it all and can do nothing about it.  They have no face or power or money!

So they can have an election and the result will be:  Same old same old!

Some people where do they get their info? Must be that very well hidden Thai red stupid book only available to those who have been in for re-training.

If Yingluk wanted to leave she would have by now, but she is a fighter for Thai freedom and in many peoples eyes here and more importantly across the world she has done nothing wrong. The longer this goes on the stronger the world will get behind her and the more chance he that holds a job that he has no education for will end up in a world court or worse.

I always tried to keep out of politics, but when blatant lies are being spread by lowlife liars you have to comment. If you want to be gagged,  with no freedom go and live in North Korea or China, Thais one day I hope will get their country back.

Politics drives you up the wall, Sorry guys My pet hate is a liar just cannot keep my mouth shut when I meet one as they also turn into thieves

" Politics drives you up the wall, Sorry guys My pet hate is a liar just cannot keep my mouth shut when I meet oneas they also turn into thieves " So, you have actually met Yingluck face to face?
