Im booked in for a cystoscopy on Weds, local army place. 10,000 Baht, not bad I guess. Im not looking forward to it to be honest but its the one last step in this process. If they see nothing, im going to say to hell with doctors and try to self medicate this, starting with one or two antibiotics for a few weeks, then changing to another combination if that does not help.
I cant think of another road out of this, apart from checking into somewhere like Burungrad for a week or two and refusing to leave untill they fix me lol. But i cant afford that, so it looks like I am out of options. The Docs seem to have hit a wall and have no clue where to go from here so im not sure if I have another option after the cystoscopy, which will probably show nothing.
Sounds expensive to me. I have used the Government Hospital in Surin for the past 4 years and the going rate is 4,200 baht per cystoscopy. Previously this was carried out in one of the operation rooms but now they have a dedicated room in the Urology department for cystoscopies. The private hospital charges a little more but less than 5,000 baht per treatment.

Thank you too, your little story brought a smile to my lips. That's what started my adventure with catheters and cystoscopies. I was admitted to A&E in the Government Hospital in Surin with a very full bladder that I could not pass. Like you, no numbing gel but who cared - the relief was immediate and very appreciated. The rest is history as they say.

I was diagnosed with bladder cancer in February 2015. The tumour was removed in a 2 hour operation. A few weeks after the operation I started a 6 week course of BCG immunotherapy where the vaccine is put directly into the bladder (as a liquid) through a catheter. For the past 4 years I have had numerous cystoscopies, one every 3 months for the first year, extending to 1 every 6 months this past year. The most recent cystoscopy was yesterday. I can assure anyone contemplating or needing this procedure that it is relatively painless apart from an unpleasant sensation when the camera (or catheter) passes through the urethral sphincter into the bladder. I am also pleased to say that nearly 4 years on I have no evidence of the disease.

I pay the extra for the Smart Family Package, because it has Setanta Sports + about 16 Movie and Series Channels for the missus.
But I agree there is no need to pay the extra for a package. But I believe the package you have with the set top box and sim card is only available to Thais, correct me if I'm wrong.
Last year the 199 baht/month was openly advertised in their shop in Big C (Surin) and they were happy to give the package to me. I think I had to buy a new SIM card for my smart phone which is a dual SIM phone anyway, For convenience, my wife signed the 1 year contract/paperwork as the paperwork was in Thai. They took a copy of her ID card. Previously, I have opened a phone account in my own name with AIS using my passport. I do have a Yellow House Book so I guess I could have signed up in my own right if I had been asked. I really do not know if Farangs can open an account with True or whether it is limited to Thais only.

It's only an extra 199 baht on top of the basic package if you have a True phone.
At present I am paying 688.99 per month for the Smart Family Package (has Setanta Sports Rugby Channel) Plus the Football.
I only pay 199 baht/month (+ vat = 220 baht) for my True subscription service and have done so since the start of the football season last year. True provided a 'free' Set Top Box as part of the subscription. You will need a True SIM card in your phone. For that I receive the 4 x BeIN channels plus a couple of the other sports channels. These channels cover all the football matches from all the major leagues - UK, Spain, France, Italy and Germany. There is no need to pay any more for a basic family package as all the Thai channels are free to air and included in the subscription. My 3 Thai family members, wife and 2 daughters, get all the 'soaps'they need from the free to air channels. It you are looking for a good legal and paid source of US and UK TV series and films, with HD quality, look no further than www.Netflix.com . The subscription cost is a very modest 350 baht/month (with a one month free trial). All other viewing, especially YouTube, is covered by an Android Set Top Box with no monthly subscriptions.

Ace1, I can not tell from practical experience how slippery the brushed concrete floor will be after treatment. I have not tried the product yet - I have to wait until the end of the month for the concrete to cure. However, a friend has recommended sprinkling fine sand on the 1st coat of the epoxy resin while it is still wet. He assures me that after the second coat of epoxy this will give an excellent non slip finish, even in the wet. I did not see any anti slip granules in Thai Wasadu although I know what you are talking about after watching YouTube demos. That said, I am pretty sure this is the same product they used to finish some of the concrete areas around Robinson's Shopping Center and even on a smooth concrete surface the finish is not as slippery as you may think.

Hello Boatman, did you ever find a solution for your concrete carport? I have just finished concreting my own drive and carport and I want to apply a concrete sealer too. After much research, and a little bit of luck, I found a Jotun product called Penguard Clear Sealer. It is a two part epoxy resin specifically formulated for bare concrete floors. The floors need to be cured and dried for at least 28 days before application. The sealer is sold in 4 liter tins, and the hardener in 1 liter tins. It should follow that you will need to mix 1 part hardener to 4 parts sealer. It can be applied by brush, roller or spray gun. The theoretical spreading rate is between 8.8 to 14.7 m2/l (depending on thickness). So in theory 1 x 4 l tin should cover between 35 to 60 m2 . (The technical data sheet can be found at https://www.smlmarinepaints.co.uk/files/library/files/DATA_SHEETS/Penguard_Clear_Sealer_data.pdf ). I found the product at a very reasonable price (1,100 baht - hardener and sealer) in Thaiwasadu. They also supply the product in a limited range of colours.

I do not understand True's logic but then again I am not sure that I should. If you already have a package, and a set top box, the footy is available for an extra 299 baht/month. If you don't have a set top box they will give you one for free and only charge you 199 baht/month. Don't get me wrong - I am not complaining.
-
Further to rkidlad above, if you want the Barclays Premier League, LaLiga, BundesLiga, Series A, Champions & UEFA League etc for only 199 baht/month read on.
I have just taken out a 1 year contract with True for the footy package (7 channels). They have given me a new set top box and a new SIM card for my telephone. I have just paid 390 baht for the SIM card and all I have to pay is 199 baht/month (+ tax). That's it, all I have to do is to top up my SIM card with more than 220 baht/month (199 + tax) before the 8th of each month for one year. In return I will receive all the footy I can watch (4 x BeIN + 3 True channels). This includes: True - BeIN 1, 2, 3, & 4 (676, 677, 678, & 679) all in 1086 HD, plus 2 further HD channels HD 2 (667) and HD 3 (668). Also included are 3 standard definition channels TS 2 (682), TS 6 (685) and TS7 (686). All these are dual language. In addition, I am also receiving 127 free to air channels with this set up, including PPTV (channel 36). So, if you are not looking for all the other channels in the Gold and Platinum packages (at a significantly higher cost) this is the way to go.I already had a spare satellite dish so there are no other installation costs.

There are more pools than you can mention. In addition to the ones mentioned above:
The Majestic Hotel (near the bus station) usually quiet and guests allowed.
Saran water park (on the 226 leading out of town towards Buriram) fun for all the family too.
Typically prices are around 100 to 150 baht/session. Check opening times but I would guess from 1400 to 2100 during the week, and all day Saturday and Sunday.
If you Google 'Surin map' I am sure you will find one to show you around town.

In Surin, the computer shops charge only 300 baht for a full install with many other programs included too. Last year my genuine installation of Win 8 cost me 3,990 baht and the upgrade to Win 10 came free, from Microsoft of course. I also have the Thai language pack installed and it is a couple of key stokes (Windows button & space bar) to change between Thai and English. All menus remain in English.

Tell you what fellas, the older you get the more difficult/impossible it becomes to use the Thai/squat toilet. Once the arthritis gets into your knees, and with the complete absence of handle grips on each side, I now find it impossible to get down to use a squat toilet. As an aside, did you know that once you turn 60 you may use the disabled facilities in the hospitals, filling stations and supermarkets? That's right, they are also there for the older person to use and what a blessing that is. There is usually a lot more space in the cubicle, they are western style WCs and they have support bars too. As Michael Caine might say, "Not many people know that."

Yes, doable. Just doing the process in reverse. The bike in questioned had Chonburi plates and was registered to another person. The bike is already in Surin. We wanted the ownership of the bike transferred to my wife's name in Surin. Started the process a couple of weeks ago with a motorbike repair shop who also gave the bike a mid-life revamp. With 2 MOT's, 2 tax discs, tax and insurance included, the bike shop is charging 2,400 baht all inclusive to sort out and process the transfer. My wife had to get the signature of the previous owner on the change of ownership documentation. We are now well advanced and already have the new tax disc (with the new Surin number). We are waiting for the new number plates to be issued (approx 1 month). I doubt if the shop is making an excessive profit and would think the cost, if you do it yourself, would be just under 2,000 baht.

PSI is probably the best box for free channels to use as they keep up there auto programming well and have good quality. This would do it and only about 400 baht.

I have been using several of these models for a couple years with no issues.

Believe TrueVisions offer free channel service (in hope you will want pay channels) so you might want to check that also if any doubt only want free.
Just bought the True set top box from Tesco's, about 1,500 baht. Its the replacement for my existing CTH box come 1st August - end of service. Its been tested on a previous satellite installation and works very well. It shows all the True channels, with their programme guide, but without a subscription you will only receive the FTA programmes. It also has a DVR facility although you will need to buy an additional memory stick to enable this function. No intention of taking out a subscription with True at this time although the setup will be there if we decide we need more than the FTA programmes.

555! They do not even know what the dates are for this year let alone next. Most schools close in March and open again for the new school year in May - you can plan on April being 'off' with a reasonable degree of certainty. The November holiday is much more difficult. Around these parts (Surin) October is the month, not November. Actual dates are difficult to determine and can be as little as 3 weeks off in the middle of the month.

I did something similar last August. I installed Win 8 earlier in the year, received the MS upgrade to Win 10 in August and then decided to change out my motherboard, CPU and RAM. At first it seemed like I was lucky and the HDD did run and opened up Win 10. However, I was quickly told by MS that I did not have an authenticated copy of Win 10. There are a few telephone numbers you can call and explain the situation. In my case they quickly accepted my story and provided the code to authenticate my copy of Win 10. I have since executed a fresh install of Win 8 and, as soon as I had competed the install, I was offered the upgrade to Win 10.One hour later and I was back up and running on Win 10. No problems, authenticated and works perfectly.

I remember I used the pay phone, more responsive!

Fully concur with what has been said above. I use Golden Frog VPN who have recently established a dedicated server in Thailand. My international downloads are usually very good and often in excess of 20 MBPS. The use of the VPN is certainly a force multiplier and well worth the additional 300 baht/month.

My older Ford Ranger had the same problem, new wipers did not stay new for very long. I found myself replacing them at least once a year. I thought I would try something different. I bought and applied a coat of 'Karshine Rain Off' to the windscreen last year. This product claims to seal the microscopic pores in the glass with a super slick non-stick invisible barrier that repels rain (their words not mine). Anyway, problem solved. Wipers now wipe silently and actually clean the windscreen without streaks. I applied the 1st coat about 9 months ago and it still works fine with the same wiper blades. There is plenty of Karshine left in the bottle for at least another 2 or 3 applications when the wiper blades next need some help.

Push to vaccinate 16 million vulnerable Thais suffers early setbacks

Further to skatewash's comment above, I can confirm that it is possible to make an appointment using the Mor Prom app.
My wife registered me for an appointment using the Mor Prom app on LINE, and my Government 13-digit ID number contained in my Yellow House Book. It took a few tries and a little perseverance but she got there in the end. I now have a confirmed appointment for a jab in 5 weeks time on the 8th June 2021.
