  1. thx for the reply

the one i see is a pit viper not really sure what kind it was the other one they killed was 100% a cobra , thet spotted another one who got away. i know cobra gard the nest an i think thats the one they killed.

we dont have many rats or other small rodents here the village is not so old and infrastructure is still good (to thai standard). we only have lots and lots of frogs near the village , the village is completly surounded with high walls with no breaches in the wall. only way in is the drainage were also many frogs live in. if you ask me that is the way they get into the compund.

but even i am not one that would kill animal because it is just there but main importance is that people are safe, so need to find solution to minimize the treath

  2. Hi all

Need some ideas or solutions for snake problem! Lately payoongreenvill in Ban chang have a problem with diffrend kinds of snake, they crawl up into the village using the water drains i sujested to payoongreenvill office to use mesh wire to cover the drain so water still can pass freely but will prevent snakes from passing true. we latley found 2 cobra,s and new cobra nest with eggs and other variety of poison snakes.

i know snakes are a part of thai wildlife but we have lots of young children here and iwould hate that the get harmed or killed by snakebyte.

The construction @ our village is comming to a end and so is the good effort that the land office is willing to make to improve the safety of the village. i hope anyone can give me some advice or idea to solve this problem. all idea are welcome

because we dont get much help or feedback from our office who are in charge of maitenance.

hope you guys can help out

    thx

  3. Are there any pollution issues in Ban Chang? From the MapTaPhut Industrial Estate, for instance?

Not much, the wind is usually from the sea. Rayong (town) is getting most of the pollution.

true true there is not a pollution problem in ban chang with the gentle seabrease comming in all the time , and i live really close to the edge of the industrial estate

  4. I agree that the Payoon Green Village development looks lovely and the houses seem to be built to a good standard... however is there not a potential problem with industrial/chemical pollution from the 'nearby' Matraphut ( ? ) Industrial estate ?

A friend of mine from Sattahip was about to buy at Payoon ...but changed his mind after finding out about this ... as he is married with young children.

The people at Payoon told him that there was unlikely to be a problem as the prevailing winds took the pollution away from the site ...but it seems that concerns have reached as far as the Thai Government who are ostensibly undertaking checks on the problem right now... but have so far made no definitive statement.

Trust me this will NOT be a problem in the future, for diffrend reasons , Yes its true the wind comming from the sea always blows land inward in the direction to mathaput making sure the air is clean in Ban Chang area. The mathaput industrial area is about 7 km away from Payoon and closed to this is the deapsea port the really big industry is on the other side of mathaput more near rayong.

Mathaput can not expand more into the payoon direction because for simple reason that next land belong to the Amphoe Ban Chang and almost all private owned, plus now with more and more people getting aware about eviroment causes the goverment to enforce strikter rules onto all industry, with the result that future expancion is not more possible in the mathaput industrial estate. ( this was the turnout of a lawsuit won by the goverment against the industry) @ the momment they industy is into a apeal with court but change will be almost zero that court wil change his rulling on this + people from area opens a new appeal to court to stop expansion in case the rulling should turn out wrong.

im living there now almost 2,5 year and never have any trouble with the industrial estate

  5. Hi there,

I apologise if this is an inappropriate place for this, but I've been reading through this thread, and thought someone may be able to help. So, I recently spent several months volunteering in Cambodia, and of course, fell in love with the country. I know this is all very cliche, but I've since began learning about Buddhism, after my experiences in the country. I've started reading up on the sak yant tattooes, which is definitely something I feel drawn to and would like in the future at some point... I was wondering if anyone was aware of a temple that did these in Cambodia or a tattoo artist with such experience? Is there even a difference between one that is be received in Thailand or Cambodia? I'm not quite sure where to even begin in my research. All I know is that I feel a great connection to Cambodia, the people, and particularly the religion. I'd like to... commemorate? That isn't exactly the right word, but the time I spent there was very special to me and personally, I have developed and so on.

Any way, if anyone could help in the slightest way, that would be greatly appreciated! I know I may sound ignorant, but I'm trying to learn as much as possible.

i traveld all over south east asia and still go the every year and myself have sak yant tattoos and got them set by up north of thailand by a bussist monk and in a place not so far from pattaya by master Archan anek . I dont know if its allowed to post link but will do it anyway http://www.poodumtattoo.com/about/.

all sak yant come from the original khmer and are the same in Cambodia and Thailand true the ages buddism got mixxed in with khmer witchcraft believes , in general sak yant are for protection but last few year they have become to many (non- believers) more a fashion thing (look @ Angelina Jolie)

Still lots of Cambodian ,Thai people still believe in the power of these tattoos a good example is the thai boxers who most of the time will have them to get speed and strenght from the prayers on the tattoos

there used to be a monk in Temple who do sak Yant (Wat Preah Prom Rath Temple) in Sien Reap but dont know if the monk is still there its about 5-6 years ago now , but i would just go to a temple it dont matter where or what temple and talk with the abt (head monk) where you can find someone who can help you with your search. they will know where to send you

i hope that this helps you along

    cheers :D

  6. When army will crack down on redshirts !!! :) this has taken long enough and only damages the contry and its people :D:D:D

If reds cant even act in a social manner what change in hel_l that they would be a solution for the country, the leaders should be hunted down and procesquted to full extend of the law :D and get the hel_l out of my city!!!!!!!!!

  7. Many Thais tend not to look you in the eye's when your speaking to them even those who know english, In the west one might think they have something to hide (maybe they do) or are lieing.

western disregard for Thai tradition and buddha. I am sick of seeing topless bathers at beachs here....its illegal right? and anyway nobody wants to see your sagging white pancakes. and men come on speedos good god.

    lol true

    :):D:D

But i never have any problems with thai manners before and i try to keep to there customs , afterall we are guest in there country and we need to show respect to them in first place if we like to get respect ourself.

and if you make a mistake as a farang the most tHAI just ignore it and probebly think to themself this is just another farang ting tong :D:D

  8. I think most of us expats or people who visit Thailand often are bored with the troubles again and again and are worried about the things to come, But as we say this is TIT (This is Thailand) These problems are also a part of thailand and the way thai people live and this will stay like this forever. With all respect for the thai its just the way thai people are. I see my father inlaw go nuts about what the redshirts are doing now again, If its not the redshirts it going to be the yellow or the green. This is just the negative side of Thailand and you need to live with it and exept it.

    TIT (This is Thailand) :)

  9. hi All

The wife and i just bought ourself a house in Ban Chang and now im looking to insure the property.

im looking for basic insurance (fire, water, storm damage etc..etc.. and if possible burglary. Can anyone recommend ma where to go and what insurange i should take (prefere Ban Chang/Pattaya area)

    Thx Obi :o

  10. If they are non thai citizens they should be arrested then kicked out of the country. :o

What bullshit is that what you say!!! :D clearly you dont know any better and are probebly not even worth this comment ,lots of us farang spending our life here and live here long time " i agree that they should not get involved" but people who live here got to have the same rights to outlet there frustration same as the thai people (peacefully i mean)

Me and i know lots of us are married with a thai and feel connected to the thai and there country, and do share the pain and frustration of the people

  11. HERE WE GO AGAIN!!!! :o

What is it with thai that they can not resolve things with dialog????

dont they understand that they really screwing up there own country!!!! really feel sad for people like that. :D:D

If you take a little time to study the Thai language or watch two Thais trying to talk to each other and it is soon apparent that communication is very poor. Limitations of what is basically a simple 'one grunt, two grunt' evolved language and the cultural style of never ever getting to the point only serves to make owning a mobile phone company here very profitable but discussing anything more than a food order virtually impossible! Sad but true IMHO...

lol true im thai myself :D (one who knows how to use diaolog)

  12. My daughter arranged for a transfer of £5K into my foreign currency account last week --- it never arrived. She just checked with her bank in the UK and they said it was blocked by SCB, reason given "The Baht is too low" !!!!!!!!

Any similar experiences or helpful comments?

this is acctually normal and all banks worldwide do it. they are free to refuse currency exchange if the local currency is under stress due to inflation (....% of the value of local currency)

    what you can do is:

    1) open a forien currency acount in your SCB bank

    2) change the currency in your own country before sending it to thailand

i use both my self i have a SCB acount in thai bhat and one in euro (this way i transfer usro and can change then when currency rate is good)

or i change my money at my bank and transfer it to thailand in thai bhat

both work fine for me and i always transfer at least 10.000 euro a year to my accounts

    hope it helps

  13. Hi All

  14. hoi

Just go to one of the embassy of a schengen country and apply for a tourist visa (this will give you choice of 30- 90 days)

Better take 30 days they will be more easy to give it to you.

make sure that you get a health insurance and proof that you can financialy take care of yourself when you are there when you apply.

I would try belgian or luxenburg embassy they are les stricked than german or french

  15. yes kids under 12 dont need visa but they do need a passport

It is becoming increasingly common for children to require their own passports, even from birth (picture taken with mum or dad). I would be checking with my local embassy asap, and ensure the child is registered also asap. Location of birth means little, compared to nationality of the respective parents.

I was once denied access to a flight for my daughter due to the fact that she didn't have her own passport yet, and she was less than 2 at the time and was supposedly able to travel on my passport.

Better safe than sorry I think.

  16. international law says she is not obbligated to take your surname and she can take it when you register her back in the uk (better to keep her surname this way less papperwork and just change it later on)

my wife still uses her thai passport when going to thailand for the rest she uses a european one

trust me on this one :o

Some good advice here on this page.

I am a UK citizen, and will be going through this all in the next few months.

Is it a big pain in the a$$ to get my partners bank accounts ( we have 3 joint ones ) passport , tabian baan etc... changed into her new surname? Is her passport with her old surname obsolete as soon as we marry?

    cheers

    Choppy
