  1. If you weren't read this or listening to any English language radios or TV and didn't fly to Krabi, Phuket, or Hat Yai last week, you would probably never even know this was happening. Your life is probably unaffected by this unless your income is derived from tourism or you live next to the protest site, then you might be worried.

I think I am more affected by the huge black cloud literally hovering over Pattaya now.

  2. This is actually quite common. Sex Headaches. I have had this happen in the past and it can be very painful. They started without warning and reocurred during sex for a month or 2 and then just stopped. Good luck with this.

    P

Thank you. It's getting better but it's still there. I'm just getting into the habit of popping Tylenol post coital and then just bearing the pain during the act itself. I am confident it will go away by itself just like my occasional sore knee. Comes without warning or explanation and leaves the same way.

  3. A few months ago, when I was a newbie to TV, I got the impression that my county, PH is one of the bottom dwellers, the laggards in the SEAsian destinations, tourism-wise, even falling below Vietnam and Cambodia, at least as far as TV members go. But just a few months later, the changes are amazing as it seems PH is a much better destination after all. At least the gals here are less greedy than their counterparts over there, we speak English and we don't need to use local language subtitles when viewing international, English language shows like Olympics, games, news and other live events. We are a fun people and our infrastructures are slowly but surely improving. After years of political instability (brought about mostly by our "noisy" media), we are probably one of the most peaceful now in the region.. even with the Mindanao conflict.. a small thorn on the side that will soon be fixed, from the way things are going.. So, many of the criticisms hurled on us, for being a country with bad food, people who are Asians but are more Latin Americans but very American in ways, are actually what make our country special and unique after all. hehehe.. am I so biased or what.. allow me, please, it is a Sunday anyway..haha.

Anyway, I can see some of the usual favorite Asian destinations are becoming passe (read: boring) and once ignored countries like ours will be the new "flavors of the month" (my fearless forecast.. LOL). My prayers though that if indeed it is our good luck that we become a top tourist destination in the years to come, the negative effects experienced by Thailand and other countries do not happen here. Hopefully, "farangs" (whom we call simply as tourists and/or foreigners) will be better behaved in my country so the locals will also not take advantage and be taken advantaged.. cuz in the long run, if thus is the case, it is a win-win situation for both sides, right.. tourists and locals alike?

Hopefully, our being a Christian country would guard us from such er, ruin and greed? :o But as they say, it always take two to tango..so I can only hope over here...

    Happy Sunday all! :D

That's a very inspiring post. I too hope PH can be all that it can be as a better alternative than Thai. I need a break from Pattaya so it's either moving to another city (Hua Hin or Phuket) or moving to PH. I don't know enough about my alternatives yet. Meeting women is paramount to keep away the loneliness that comes from living in a foreign country with no friends. I have recently sent an American rover over to PH to check things out for me while I'm occupied in Thailand. If he gives the thumbs up, I'll be there soon. Thank you.

  4. As the title suggests. I have heard the post office is an inexpensive option for less than 3000 baht. Has anyone done this? Would I simply drive my bike to the post office and they take it from there? Any insurance options? Please do not suggest I drive my Fino there. Not interested. Thank you.

  5. Thank you for all the suggestions and this confirms that shipping is very inexpensive. I'm amazed.

I enjoy driving around my little area here in Pattaya but driving my Fino along the highways would kill my butt and is potentially very dangerous. I'm thinking of trying living in both Hua Hin and Phuket for awhile. Initially just a few days each for holiday/assessment with a bike rental and then I'll come back as a more permanent move once I decide which city suits me better.

So my question then is how do I approach the post office about mailing my bike? Is it wrapped or insured? How long does it take?

    Thank you very much!

  6. On the 2nd floor of Carrefour in the store of the same name, is a fish counter with an array of fish that can be steamed, fried, or spiced. I am quite a regular visitor as I just love fresh white fish. I am no connoisseur so I'm curious if anyone knows if the fish are indeed fresh?

  7. As I couldn't find any other appropriate medical section on Thai Visa, I reckon the Pattaya section would be the most suitable. I get sex headaches. That is, when I become aroused and close to orgasm, I get a very bad pain in the lower back of my neck. It can last for a few minutes post orgasm until I take some Tylenol which usually makes it all go away. This is a fairly new condition which I feel might have been caused by a Xanax overdose I took for my long flight to Thailand.

The result, unfortunately is a reduction in libido. I'm disclosing my condition so others should not fear they are alone. I have had tranquilizers recently prescribed but they only left me quite stoned for hours at a time but still did not cure me. I've been doing some research and it seems the cause might be serotonin levels. Anyone with similar? Feel free to PM if you want to share or have found a solution. Good luck.

Not to be funny or anythinig, but you should probably go get that checked out.

Random pains when your bloodpressure is high isn't really all that great. Does this also happen under other strenous activity? I can't imagine how it could be linked to serotonin levels, that would mean that every extacy user would have ragingneck cramps?

    Blood pressure normal. :o

  9. Just wondering Hendrix......was the discounted price you got(after you showed your license) then on a par with the Thai price????

OR still more expensive than the Thai price but just somewhat lower than the standard Racist price???

Charming policy they have at this place isn't it....a truly great representation of "Welcome to the Land of Smiles" :o:D

Thai ~ Farrang with proof of being a local at 250 baht each.

At least the attendant didn't ever call me "farrang." I was called the polite term for foreigner:

คนต่างชาติ "khohn dtaang chaat" (rough phonetic pronunciation).

I think the humorous part is when you are invited for a free photo of your visit. Somewhere along the route, you are handed a thimble sized paper pic of you and your better half to ascertain if you want to blow it up to various sizes. Also enjoyable is the exit situated at the the far end of the souvenir shop. Must have studied Ikea's exit strategy. :D

  10. I played tour guide today with a Bangkok Thai who was allowed to name & choose any tourist site to visit so we went to Underwater World on Sukhumvit south of Jomtien. Many species of fish to be seen up close and personal in the air conditioned fish tunnel. I recommend visiting not on the weekend as the tunnels can get crowded with screaming children and wheelchairs but they took 150 baht off the 400 baht adult ticket when I showed my Thai driving license. Hooray for racism based on skin color! Recommended for a few relaxing and informative hours to see sharks, stingrays, and a litany of many many others.

  11. There's bound to be a few strong opinions on those delicious pies. So before this topic turns into a bargirl discussion and then gets closed, I am referring to Pizza in all its glory. I am a loyal supporter of Scobie's on 3rd road (unknown phone listing at this time--sorry). This topic was done 2 years ago so here's the 2008 version. Who does it best and where can we find them? Phone #? Delivery?

Some have said Nick the Pizza is the worst pizza in Pattaya. Any thoughts?

  12. I recommend going into your garden after dark, hiding in the bushes, and setting up a stuffed cat on a string that resembles your cat. Pull the decoy along until it gets shot. Then nab the "suspects" and then help them commit suicide as it's seemingly the only way people the police rule most deaths. Try not to get shot during the stake out. In the event you are shot, once you remove the dart from your body, you can then chase the suspects on foot if you can still walk or run. Good luck and I'm sure this would work. I saw it done on Macgyver once.

  13. Lewinski's bar on Soi Pattayaland used to make a killer club sandwich.

I haven't had one in a couple of years so it might have changed, but the last one I had was great.

Thai club sandwiches often have a fried egg tucked in there which doesn't complement my diet. I would love to find a big falafel type sandwich stuffed with salad and hummus. Any suggestions?

  14. At the Dusit Thani hotel in Pattaya, there is a nightly dinner buffet for 800 baht all included which includes all you can eat cheeses amongst many other expensive delicacies like smoked and raw salmon, and oysters. There's usually several choices of cheese. All fresh, all delicious, and all you can eat.
