  1. i've found a great supplier of various home-made indian curries and now ask where to buy pappadom?

This lady also makes pies stuffed full of steak+kidney, meat+ mushroom, chicken+leek, pasties, pizzas, burgers, etc etc. Unquestionably the tastiest and best value i have had in Pattaya.

  2. many thanks

Who did you use for the translation locally as some of the phraseology may confuse many Thais? Thanks again.

Yes I did and also included an alternate

Since there have been so many questions regarding this, here is mine with individual names redacted I have bolded the areas of special importance here in Thailand (IMHO)

I, xxxxxxxxxxx , residing at (address) Kingdom of Thailand, an unmarried male, declare this to be my Last Will and Testament, and I revoke any and all wills and codicils I previously made in the Kingdom.

ARTICLE I: Funeral expenses & payment of debt

I direct my executors to pay my enforceable unsecured debts and funeral expenses, to include but not limited to the cremation of my remains, the expenses of my last illness, and the expenses of administering my estate.

ARTICLE II: Money & Personal Property

I give all my tangible personal property, bank accounts, cash, automobiles, and all policies and proceeds of insurance covering such property that is located in the Kingdom of Thailand, to my partner, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Thai ID number xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. If she does not survive me, I give that property to her minor (under 18) children who survive me, in equal shares, to be divided among them by my executors in their absolute discretion. My executors may pay out of my estate the expenses of delivering tangible personal property to beneficiaries.

    ARTICLE III: Real Estate

I give all my residences, that are in my name or in the company name of xxxxxxxxx, subject to any mortgages or encumbrances thereon, and all policies and proceeds of insurance covering such property, to my partner, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx . If she does not survive me, I give that property to her minor children.

    ARTICLE IV: Residuary Clause

I give the rest of my estate (called my residuary estate) to my partner, xxxxxxxxxxxxx, If she does not survive me, I give my residuary estate to her minor children who survive me, in equal shares, to be divided among them.

    ARTICLE V: Fiduciaries

I appoint my partner, xxxxxxxxxxxxx, as Executor of this will. If she is unable or unwilling to act, or resigns, I appoint her son-in- law, xxxxxxxxx, as her successor. If this successor also predeceases me or is unable or unwilling to act, his survivor shall serve as executor. My executor shall have all the powers allowable to executors under the laws of this country. I direct that no bond or security of any kind shall be required of any executor.

    ARTICLE VI: Simultaneous Death Clause

If my partner, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, and I shall die under such circumstances that the order of our deaths cannot be readily ascertained, my partner shall be deemed to have predeceased me. No person, other than my partner, shall be deemed to have survived me if such person dies within 30 days after my death. This article modifies all provisions of this will accordingly.

    I have signed this will this ____ day of ____, 20___ .

  3. A Christmas card correctly stamped and addressed and posted on 20th December 2010 in Phuket has just arrived here in Na Jomtien on February 17th 2011 (59 days). Last year a card from the same friends in Phuket took just 47 days to arrive. Is this a record?

  4. Just an information update .............. on 29th September i wrote that a sea-water swamp was infilled one day and building piling started on the following day. Pleased to report that by Christmas (under 3 months) there are now about 48 small but attractive bungalows with patios, swimming pools, water features, gardens, trees & lawns and security walls/gates with very attractive steelwork. All known as "Pinnacle Pool Wing" and some occupants sunbathing already. Deadlines seem to have been met (Russian money we hear). I must say that the productivity matched even Hong Kong's speed and overall looks very appealing. How long before the cracks start is anyone's guess. Surrounding roads still a disaster. Must wait for Part 3 on that update.

  5. if you want reliable blood tests with comparisons v. the norm and recorded in a professional booklet try Lifecare Laboratory (tel 086 488048 or 081 481 7180) on 247/59 Moo 10, 3rd Road, Sth Pattaya. Look for the sign on the lamp-post at soi end. Any blood test individiually available and priced. I use a package of 15 tests for B500 (promotion currently of 20 tests for B999). i go annually and results are seemingly reliable. Go about 0730 with urine sample, no food or drink since midnight the night before and give blood sample at the office. Results back in a few hours normally.

  6. The land can't be very enclosed or private if they are already parking on it no?

I doubt it will come off as a deterrent. If you clamp someone, then you will have a confrontation (reactive) which is NOT a deterrent (proactive). Confrontations can become violent, etc..

Maybe a better access barrier is required.

I would check the law first at your local police station before you clamp at car ? i would not want you to clamp a LT Colonel !!

and what about parking in a condo car park?

  7. craig - you've seen the site. Out of interest are you a builder? Reading the TV comments does the piling look effective to you?

Everything is still 'floating' currently, Daily truck loads of stones/clinker dumped in huge mounds in the deepest holes in the main soi only to be crushed into hills by heavy trucks or washed away by rains. "Dont ya just love this place?" Never a dull moment.

No, I'm not a builder...but feel like one after our recent construction project! No fun for sure....

I was not able to get an up close inspection. That truck was blocking the small soi leading into the site. And there was a huge puddle on the other street with cars in front of me and behind me.

I will try and stop by tomorrow as I now have a scooter to use and it will be much easier to get a closer look.

PM me and maybe i can meet you there for a squizz and a chuckle!

  9. ^^ Lenny, there's a difference between a structural and a civil engineer.

We're dealing with the sh1t and paper clips brigade.

Yes, if piling is done correctly and well you have a good start. But that's all it is, you need to properly tie the pile caps together to make a solid foundation. But even that's wasted if they don't drive the piles to the correct depth nor test them.

But if they're just bungalows I'd be surprised if they really piled the foundations.

Still they'll look nice for a year, maybe two.

  10. update ................. 5th October

the more it rains the more soil trucks are sent; clinker and stones spread daily on the Koh Samet ravines; mini soi lakes now filling with Koi carp; water levels rising all around the area; poor old workers washed away every night; machinery toppling over; piling continues; hopes still high.

  11. About 2 weeks ago there was a sizeable sea-water swamp behind our condos, just west of the Jomtien Yacht Club (Na Jomtien) and opposite Pinnacle Resort

On a monday a continuous convoy of heavy trucks appeared frantically dumping soil into the swamp. After just one day of manic activity, tree felling, dumping and infilling the piling began.

We are told 40 bungalows are being erected for the local holiday hotel/resort. To date it seems the piles for the majority of the buidlings are already installed. Building blocks are being stockpiled.

After the recent storms the site is now a quagmire again but activity continues unabated.

My questions are ............ how long before? ........... when will they ?................. will hotel guests be insured? ................. will they meet the high-season deadline? ...... will the sois be restored? Or what?

PS - the condition of the sois now outrut Koh Samet's muddy tracks too.

  12. I appreciate your confirmatory views

    PRK

    I am a 2 years owner of a MU7 Gold Activo.

I have a very few minor complains, like the original tires, low rear visibility, not, like the jealous Transam says, the most advanced design.

But, overall, a lot of plus. Among them, a wonderful engine, a very good interior configuration, very good multimedia system, fast and professional 5000 km assistance, good price and many freebies.

When a new version of MU7 come out, definitely I will buy.

  13. I have read your other mail and thanks. I will almost certainly buy

Unless you're wealthy, (or lucky), you will have to choose a vehicle "with the least number of negatives" in its class once you know exactly what features you're looking for in a car. Also, it helps to always keep in mind: TIT.

Following the above, I too, have settled on the MU7. There are a few of us 'MU7 Proponents' in this forum, I am probably the last one of the group to actually buy a MU7......

  14. Now looking at the market and i like what i see in the MU7, Meets my specs. Before buying I would appreciate comments from MU7 owners. Thanks.

PS - The recent comments i received about colour printers were really very useful before purchase.

  15. Thanks dave and i will try that although all pics seem to load via picasa

The simple suggestion i have is don't use Picasa. Just find the original photo file; whether its in 'my pictures' or wherever you saved them. Then upload straight from that destination folder.

I'm not a wizard on the PC, but i upload photos all the time with Hotmail and never have problems doing it this way.

    Hope this helps.

    Dave.

  16. i suddenly cannot upload photos from Picasa to emails in hotmail. Message says Active X wont allow it! I am not PC literate but have looked at Support & FAQs etc but make no sense. Can anyone help?
