  1. When i have been following up second hand cars for sale, i find a lot have had LPG fitted in the past year. Anyone any experience of using it. is it any good, is the saving in running cost worth any potential problems with engine etc

  2. thaicbr

never got the mazda as she not like. the isuzu in her brothers names as she needed finance. i not pay anything and took no part in the fuc_king around, sorry i mean purchase. and i bad person as i not pay finance.

she says, i got bad attitude when we go looking at vehicles ie i point out faults and harrass dealers for lower price . I left her and her brother to it when i saw she determined to buy. i told her battery no good and noisy engine and no test drive. been standing in dealers for a year. i since proved correct but you know you cannot tell a pair of thais anything, they know it all

    stingray

look on thai secondhand. that is where i saw neon 88 auto 100,000km. 100,000baht. we were 4th call in the morning for it. I think mainly private sellers and low prices. goodly number of people lost there jobs, phoned about 15 of them, all in thai but many obvious as to what they are. the gf got the paper with all the details and my connection dead slow so cannot look it up yet. Think maybe many bargains to be had soon as crunch starts to bite. Been offered houses to purchase locally as they all think i am loaded, wish i was

What you bought is about what we [gf and i] wanted. Unfortunately i was overuled for a mazda at 200,000 and she paid 375,000 for an isuzu, similar spec to yours and on the drip at 6%. We are just having one of our bust ups, which i think this time is terminal. I am stuck with low price for car as i am wanting to buy a tiger boxer 250. The fall off in tourism has been disastrous and the plummeting pound combined to see me down shit street. Plus now I dont have wp so no finance for me even though my daughter [bless her heart ] would pay finance. Mind you without the gf a pick up and a tiger boxer would be a good travelling combination

Anyhow my next thread on tv will be, 'are there any thai ladies who are not interested in momey'

  4. Bought the Mazda 3 sport in 2005. I think it is a great car. Goes fast and goes around bends fast as well. Almost a hot hatchback, although in the UK

and some other countries there is one. Maybe have a look at a second hand one, there seems to be a few about and good prices.

  5. Can anyone please give advise on house hunting in Chiang Rai. Looking for long term let. 2beds etc. Short of cash at moment so not more than 6000b./month

Preferably furnished seperate house but also shop house might be suitable.

Have made a few trips around the town but not found anything. Also have looked through the internet but not found any sites for real estate.

Obviously i am not looking in the right places

  6. Hi Kano

At the present time i live between chiang Khong and Kanchanaburi. For the next week or two i will go down to Kan and will make arrangements to go to see

    the Tiger people whilst there.

I am also interested to know from you about your tyres, as they were your choice. is the road holding good? Also, how far do you travel before your bum gets numb from the

seat. When i had a cb 400 i was always happpy to find some reason to stop as it was so uncomfortable. How do you find the windscreen. Does it serve much purpose, is it big enough. Is there any modifications that you would like to make to the bike now that you have put some mileage on it.?

Do you know any other Boxer 250 riders? It might be difficult to get 5 together at any one time.

  7. After drinking more or less everyday since i arrived in Thailand in 2002. On 15 june 2008 i thought i ought to get myself back in control.

So I have not had a drink since. Not being smug, but i feel a lot better for it. Can concentrate more and have started to get into better physical condition.

I dont rule out drinking again, but at this time i dont feel the need to drink, inspite of going through some serious domestic and business problems.

  8. Hey Kano85.

Why get upset at other postings on this forum. All forums all full of good, bad and indifferent posts with much misinformation from people with all sorts of axes to grind.

However, many others besides myself take a big interest in your postings about the Tiger Boxer. Particularly loooking forward to a road test

from you. I am interested to know about the suitability of the lights for night time riding, as they dont look very powerful, plus i dont like the style and would

consider replacing wirh a more conventional headlight.

I have been along to look at the 250 Boxer twice now and l think it likely i will buy one soon. I am sure others are interested as a result of

your enthusiastic postings. So forget about adverse comparisons and keep the information coming.

  9. I dont know much about economics, but an American friend has been telling me for a couple of months now. That the rich thai are supporting the baht to keep it strong so that they can get their money out of the country. That in the new year they will stop doing so in order for the baht to crash. Then they can buy back in again making huge profits. He says his source is in the State Department.

  10. My gf is interested in setting up a 'chemical suppliers' in northern Thailand to supply fertilisers etc to rubber plantations. The background doesnt matter at the moment.

My concern is that she has just told me in response to my probing her about she will go about this business, that she will "use MLM, like Amway".

From what i have read i feel this is somewhat an unethical way to go about marketing a product and dont know how it works in farming. Nor does she seem willing or able to tell me anything about it. I dont know where she has picked this up from, and without further information to reassure me that it is in fact, as she tells me, a normal way to go about business in farming suppliers in thailand, i have told her that I am not taking any further business interest in the project.

I would welcome any feed back on this subject if anyone has thoughts, knowledge or experience of this system.

  11. I am a bit colour blind. red /green defincies, which i believe 1 in 7 men have but may not neccesarily be aware of. i can see colours and traffic lights but cannot pass colour tests.

I dont have thai license as colour test is part of what they require. So i drive for the last 7 years on UK driving license. Its never been questioned. I rode a cb400 for a year in bkk and was stopped regularly by BiB but never challenged about license. I have ridden/driven 5 years in Krabi and despite a couple of crashes in which thai were injured , my uk license was accepted by the police and 2 insurance companies.

i was stopped twice in a Krabi plated car last week in Bkk and license ok, but fined for number plates too large on the car. But thats another story of crap and corruption.

Oh and also stopped and fined for doing 140 in a 2 door pickup on route 1 going to CM where they apparently [claim] to have radar guns month ago.

So who knows what is ok these days. What is obvious, is that traffic violations, both real and imaginary are being pounced on more frequently.

  12. Went to look at the boxer 250 late this afternooon at Pathonyothin rd.

I looked at it as a new general purpose bike for 72,000baht. At that price it doe'snt appear to have any competition. and in itself is probably ok value.

Its not exotic and certainly did not turn me on like maybe my nsr150 or cbr400 would, and i didnt feel like king of the road as i did on my cb400 when i used to live and ride in bangkok , but time has moved on and i just want a reliable, cheap, lightweight bike that i can feel comfotable with. At 5'9" it fitted me ok.

I was not too impressed with the set up of the demonstrator, as it had a tendency to cut out after start up and when moving away. GF says to me the guy blamed me for being too quick [???]. I notice rags stuffed down between mini fairing and instrument console and also between muffler and its circular holding clamp. Probably to stop rattles. I did'nt question why as the GF says i have 'bad attitude' and she gets upset.

General chit chat from the sales guy was that the police are happy with the 200 which is being/has been finished, as replaced with the 250, which the police will also buy. But in general, as yet not being taken up by Thai market. But then there has'nt been anything the same before.

Spares obtainable no problem, panniers/top box discontinued. can get small box carrier like on police bike, but likely i would get something fabricated and sort out some panniers/top box. Can get small windscreen [1000baht] again as seen police bike, which I would get. Think i would want to get some better tyres and improve the seat. Not worried about lack of tacho.

So there we are. Shall i buy one? Well i would have bought one today but i did'nt want the GF to know i had 72.000baht. And i did tell a friend to put off the purchase of a phantom until he had seen the boxer 250.

  13. My nsr150 is too unreliable now, although when it goes it is like a little rocket. So after looking and reading and thinking of phantom because i am also getting old and unreliable, and seeing loads of phantoms down pinklao, i come across this forum about the boxer 250.

What a lot of useful and interesting information.

So tomorrow i am off to Phanomyothin to have a look at Tigar motorcycles. My main worry is i am going to live in Chiang Khong [N. Thailand] and i cannot believe there will be much option for service etc. from Tigar.

Does any one know or have any thoughts about whether it is likely that a Honda dealer would be able to service/repair the boxer 250, if it is using an old /cloned honda engine?
