  1. Funny, I can't ever remember a Thai being arrested for this kind of stuff
Perhaps you don't read the Thai newspapers? Plenty of real estate-related arrests over the years.

This time the crook took the money before the thai crooks got hold on them. The police dont like behavior like that.

  2. It was said that 76 billion were seized. Now 46 are to be retained. What happens to the remaining 30 billion? Are they to be returned to the man who took them from the thai people?

Why bother so much for Thaksin. He will manage. Also in my country people get extremely rich over the night dealing with telecom business. I think that will be the same all over the world.

Now a new reality begins in Thailand. All people that works or have been working as officials including people in the police force, principals and so on will have to give back to the Thailand state everything they have gained from corruption.

In my country the court can go back 10 years.

Welcome to the new justice in Thailand.

  3. Following the estimation of 30 doctors infected with the virus
    ..

So just a random number plucked from thin air then ??

    Oh, come on.

We have the same problem in my country. The government order to far to many doses of vaccine and dont know how to get rid of them.

But in my country the government have to be careful about funny jokes. :)

  4. Corruption in police procurement procedures? Cannot be! Which country has that?! How dare they? ROFLMAO

When violation of the law become culture there is no point in putting most of the people in prison. There will be no one left for common tasks.

But what the government could do """ IF""" they want to reduce or get rid of it, - is to confiscate all values coming from corruption.

That will be a more functional punishment then some words in a paper that no one reads. :)

  5. We will never get rid of the plastic. It will be more and more as Thailand get developed. There is only one way to avoid that the country will be overcrowded by plastic rubbish. Where I stay in Thailand a truck is coming every week and pick up bottles and metal. We even get paid for some of the shit.

But for the entire country the government have to write a law act for how the tamboons is supposed to handle the waste problem.

It also goes for the food waste.

I really dont understand why everything have to be so difficult to handle in Thailand. In these cases it is just to look what other countries have done and do like that or better. :)

  6. As a 'chubby' Thai I will add some thoughts here. Yes, Thais are getting chubbier. I think it is a result of eating more/more availability of Western foods in Thailand (Thai food actually has alot of vegetables in it), AND (and this is the kicker) more available transportation. Hear me out (and I have been thinking about this for a bit). When I was in Europe (Austria/Vienna) I noticed that everyone there was generally more thin than in the United States. Then I go around with the GF on and everyone there like, has to walk everywhere because its really just a hassle to have a car. (Okay you get on the train to your main location and walk the rest of the way). Now in the States I have a car, I go everywhere by car. I burn no calories. In Europe, you get exercise and gotta walk everywhere. Thailand, sort of the same thing. Before, everyone had to walk. Now, BTS, cheaper cars, cheaper bikes=less exercise and fatter Thais.

Good post I thought Submaniac. I think ther is no doubt that Thai children are getting fatter. It is said that per capita Thais consume more sugar than any other country. Another thing that I have noticed over the years is that the teeth of young Thai children are getting progressively worse. Heaven forbid that within a few years the "land of Smiles" should become the "Land of Gums!huh.gif

2 weeks ago my gf asked me to go to Korat with her and daugther of brother number one. She wanted to see a new bath/pool-land everybody in the village talked about.

I was very suprised to see the different from the children in the village compared to the city children.

In the village I live I can hardly see a fat child, but at the swimming-pool in Korat there where a lot of fat children. :)

  7. It is sad to witness a totally human destruction of the Thailand Nation. Where is the Thai Government in this case? Where is the police head on the airport? How can he let these incidents take place without take action to rescue Thailand and its people from total doom?

This is not only a shame for the Thailand people, but also for the human race.

I want all flight crew flying to BKK to carry out a warning to all passengers before landing; Never enter a shop or going close to a shopping area. If you have to walk by for reaching your gate or exit keep your bag closed.

I want a representative from the authorities to announce a statement on the issue.

I do also want to warn the fraud police in BBK to not try this criminal act towards a norwegian. We will sit in your Bangkok Hilton until everyone in the world now about this scam shit.

  8. I wonder if there is anyone that can give an answer if there is possibilities to find and rent or buy a condo in Isaan cities like Buriram,Surin,Mukdahan, sakhon nakhon,Udon,Nong khai or some other places.

I am thankful if there is anyone that have some knowledge in this topic.

    Hallo Bengt.

There are condos and appartment everywhere, but I recommend you to go and see for your selves. Dont trust anybody but yourselves, and rent the object for a time before you decide where to stay. Normally nothing is what it looks like.

I would also take height for the fact that shit happens between couple and therefore choose a place not to small if you want to start over again.

If you do things the right way in Thailand you have won the Viking-Lotto. :)

  9. Perhaps before this thread reaches its 2nd page of replies, we should wait for the OP to make his second post on thaivisa, preferably in this thread, to clarify further or to respond to the 3 dozen replies thus far.

oh well... so much for the forum waiting... and now as we have passed 5 dozen replies (and well on to 6 dozen) and still waiting for the OP to make his second post... let the stand-in troll, the 23 y/o millionaire one, fulfill the role for the OP...

    Hello folks.

This is the OP and I think this tread is informative and amusing.I owe to say that I have a good relationship with this woman. I am not a naive person that is being ripped of, but I dont want to be a norwegian Santa Claus either. My woman want to start working as soon her mother is well again. Her mother broke her leg badly, and it takes time to heal.

But I know very well that she earns hardly a third in a month of what I am earning in one day. So I have a problem; When I comes to Thailand when she works I will just see her maybe 3 hours before it is bedtime, and she has hardly any time off in weekends.

So what is the good advice?

  10. Hi everybody.

I am norwegian and will do my best to write in english. A year ago I met a woman in Thailand. We have been together since. She was working at a hotel when I met her. 3 months ago her mother became sick and she had to go and help the family at the farm. In fact I told her to stay with her family a litle longer when her mother became a litle better.

I have been visiting her and the family several times lately, and I have paid all expencis when I have been there.

When I left for going home to my country for work I gave her money so she could take care of herself and the daugther.

The question is since I will not go so often to Thailand as I have done lately:

What would be the reasonable amount of money to send each month? We are talking about a rural district in south part of Issan. I dont have the nerv to ask her, and she is to shy to mention it.
