  1. Well guys, it sounds like you've got it all worked out. Judge, jury and executioner, typical Thai Visa style.

I'd just like to clarify a few points. Firstly we are not a sinking ship, failing business, going belly up etc, far from it. There are no plans to close the business, flee etc as suggested by the "experts" on the forum. Business goes on as normal, all be it a bit quiet at the moment as it always is at this time of year, but the order books are looking pretty good for the coming months. The car rental branch is at capacity as it always usually is.

I personally live in the UK these days, have done so for the past 3 years mainly to run a couple of businesses I have here, and to put my kids through school, not that it's of anyone's business. 15 years of being in Thailand made me feel like a break. I have semi regular trips to Bangkok, and may plan to move back in a few years time. The day I went to the UK I made sure everyone knew and it's clearly stated on the main page of our website. I have competent staff running the business and am in daily contact with the Bangkok office.

The 10 people effected by the issue currently being discussed will be compensated one way or another, they have to be dealt with all at the same time, it would be unfair to be selective. There is an on going court case as already mentioned, and as also mentioned I'm working on other ways of off loading these vehicles and getting a decent return to the buyers. In the meantime if they decide to persue their own legal action then that is down to them like Mr. P doing down in Phuket. I'd probably do the same myself. They have all been told this and know where they stand.

There seem to be a few name callers, flamers etc here who have been posting here, hiding behind their online pseudonyms. I imagine these are people who have enquired to us to buy a car over the years and may have been shocked by the cost of vehicles here compared to their home countries leaving a bad taste in their mouths, probably can't afford what they want, or were unable to secure finance, but I can only speculate on that. Some people just have to be D*cks on online forums! If anyone wants to take exception to Tim in the office then I suggest you get from behind your computer screen and pay the man a visit in the office in Bang-Na.

Regarding the Thai Visa advertising. I think we pay 3K a month to advertise here, and in truth doesn't bring us much business compared to Google Ads or the Bangkok Post amoungst others. If the powers that be decide to ban the Ads for whatever reason then so be it. I don't think we'll be losing any sleep over it. Most here seem to treat it as a privilege for some reason. Anyone can advertise if they are prepared to pay!

To Barry: I thought your issue had been resolved a long time ago as I haven't heard from you since early last year. The circumstances surrounding that vehicle are exceptional, and seriously doubt you have anything to worry about. However it's unfortunate you can't sell it on yet. You can always email me.

My phone numbner is clearly displayed on the website front page as it always has been, not exactly a state secret, and calling Interpol about VAT?? Please! However I did throw a fag end on Silom a few years back, you may be able to get me for that!

Anyway I think I've summed up most of my thoughts that I wanted to express here, so in your own time pick them apart and "Flame On!"

    Regards

  2. Expat Motors have advised all involved several times to take appropriate legal action to protect themselves if they feel they need to. Some have, some have not. We can’t buy back one car we have to buy back or resolve all affected to be fair in this, which is something financially not possible at this time.

Our company acts as a broker in vehicle sales with our customers, we don’t buy stock and wait for buyers to come along this has never been our practice. While this isn’t any way of shirking responsibility this is how we do business. People approach us stating what they require and we source that vehicle from our contacts in the Bangkok car market be it used or brand new.

We’ve been fighting the supplier of these cars and the finance companies involved over the past few years through the courts, this is still an ongoing process due to the speed of the Thai legal system. We accept responsibility for this issue and always have done.

In the meantime we are working with sources and contacts in Bangkok to sell these cars on for the best price possible based on their circumstances so the buyers can get a reasonable return on their vehicle. All people involved are aware of this, and most accept it.

I'm not going to go into the how’s, where’s, why’s and what’s with people on this board regarding this issue. The OP is doing a good job of that anyway. People can form their own conclusion about our business as is their right. I'm not going to say anything more about this on this public forum.

  3. The company in question is my company "Expat Motors". Yes we did business with a supplier 3 years ago or so supplying us new cars. In total we had around 80 vehicles from him. After a period of time registation docs from this supplier started to get slower and slower in coming to us. In the end we stopped buying from him and have been stuck with 10 cars with outstanding registration documents due. We found out after some investigations that the supplier was financing the cars after we'd paid cash for them. Anyway he's locked up and we have several unhappy people wanting paperwork, refunds etc from us. We don't have the funds to close the outstanding finance neither can we afford to buy the cars back so in a difficult spot.

We are working on selling these cars on, but price is an issue, and have ongoing legal proceedings with the original supplier. We stopped dealing with this individual as soon as we leant something was amiss but continue to deal in cars from more reliable sources.

I'm not going to get into an online arguement with anyone on the board regarding this, but wanted to explain the situation from our side.

We've been in business for over 10 years and I'm sure there are more than a few Thai Visa readers who are happy with the services we've provided.

  4. Thanks very much Scouse and others for the hints and tips, I'll get cracking on the application, and get my bank draft for 58,500 Baht sorted!!!!

Hopefully they understand the financial side of things.

Looking forward to a move to blighty with the family, but still enjoying the good thins here.

    Cheers all.

  5. OK here goes boys, any help or advise would be appreciated.

I've lived in Thailand for the past 14 years and have built up a few businesses that are all going well. (33 years old now)

I'm married to a Thai, all legal and proper down the Ampur office, on paper we've been married for 3 years, but have been together for 7-8 years. We have 2 kids, one 6 and one 2 years old.

For our own reasons me and the missus want to relocate to the UK, I have business interests there which I'll be persuing, and my businesses here will continue to run.

My plan is for me to live in the UK with my wife and kids and for myself to return to Thailand for 7-10 days out of every 2 months or so to over see what we've got going on over here.

Basically I want my kids to go to school in the UK, and be brought up there.

    My questions:

I don't own property in the UK, and plan to rent for the first 6 months, would that affect the settlement visa application?

Will we need to fill out 3 settlement forms? One for the wife and one each for the kids? 19,500 x3 = Quite a chunk of change!

All my resourses etc are in Thailand, I'd be taking around 30,000 Pounds with us to set things set up there, how do I explain that?

I have no job in the UK, I'm a part owner of a company there which is not much evidence of being able to support myself, any ideas?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

  7. Little help please.

I recently changed the password on my Yahoo and Gmail accounts which I access with Outlook, I've fed in the new passwords into the email settings of Outlook and now I can't access my messages with Outlook, a box keeps poping up asking for my user name and password which is correct again and again.

    What have I missed??

    Cheers...
