  1. thanks very much L I K, ken, I will be there to day, also thanks for removing troll post I was dreading them, they can make black white, and at times i feel Phuket forum is the worst one in the whole of Thailand, one asks for help and gets scummed So well done Sir moderator Riley 76

  2. can any Phuket TV member help me. I have a Ford Ranger pick up ,the prop shaft has universal joints and a slide system on the shaft to take care of up and downs, there are grease nipples FORD Anaphus said they could not grease them ??? now they are worn, i will buy new parts from super cheap, they wont be genuine but, and fit my self, but will need a grease gun, .[ have visited many other garages , no have ?? ] i would also like to buy ramps to run the truck up so i can work underneath, or axle stands . very unhappy with FORD here I had a 100,000 k service in chiangmai Ford [ year2010] excellent, took pictures of all the service and was amazed at how little wear, there was, but happy with belt changes .due to age, gave all pictures to ford .Two months later came back to phuket, went in for a service please change oil . and filter and clean air filter, they took the service manual away and later gave me a bill for a 100.000 k service !!! This One month after, it was done in chaingmai cost 8000 baht, On another occasion i went in for a bulb to be changed, in a head light, the woman on the counter said you have to buy a new head light !!!! 2,500 i went to their store got a bulb asked a mechanic to change it cost 60 baht, i took the dead bulb to show the woman, how wrong she was, she was not impressed, i do not want to use Anupus FORD ever again. I love Ford. One thing, guys and girls, just up the road to kata from Chalong circle there is a shell station, I recommend it for routine service, good price and good service eg Ford change gear box oil and Differential 1300+baht Shell garage and you can watch it done plus check type of oil, 300 baht . No they also, cannot grease the nipples same as many garages and ford so I want a grease gun of my own, Cockpit in phuket town has, but wrong size. feed to nipples thanks all Riley 76

  3. ooops once more i need some help, my truck air con is nearly u/s

there was an engineer just across the road from friendship beach Viset road where the market is

but i cant locate him, so i need to ask for Thai visa members to direct me in the direction of one

i don't want to go to the Agents as i had a 100,000 service done in chiang mai all belts, parts etc renewed

came back to phuket and two months later decided i wanted a normal oil change /filter and air filter

i wrote it down, for them. The fact that the 100,000, service had been done was in the service book

which they took, They redid the 100,000 service plus and gave me a bill for ten thou, i do not feel happy going to them again

I have all my service's done at the shell station just before green man chalong i recommend them,[ they don't do air con]

I buy all oils filters etc from Super Cheap [they are genuine parts from ford.] worth a look, there is a good English speaker in the spare parts dept

the main agents need English skills, which they used to have, they still have a good English speaking sales guy but they don't like sales interfering with the repair side ?. Mazda is the same limited English, yes i should have learnt Thai roll on 2015

wish i could just go back to American Ford in Chiangmai but cant, thanks in advance Riley 76

  4. i have a small TIG welder i could lend you i guess. you would need to get a gas bottle through, i don't have that. p.m. me

stevehaigh post 5527343 = once again thaivisa proves its worth, i met up with Steve and have borrowed his welding plant thanks Steve, he is a house builder /doctor etc etc has built many houses . and he instructed me in the use of the machine

    <ad removed>

note he did not ask me to do this, but he is such a nice person. and this is what thai visa is all about getting help from those in the know. Not slagging each other off. or mind reading a post instead of reading it which grieves me sometimes on this forum,Riley 76

now need to do some welding asap Rawai I want a small welder that I can use direct from socket power

they are not to expensive, but it s not worth buying one . the job is in a sensitive area so I don't want

some one to come in and create more problems. as they work. and burn the house down. so i want to do it myself

i do know of two great local Thai tradesmen but both are busy

  8. Update !!! The tyre place opposite Tesco, its not the same people however i asked for a new Michelin price whilst stopping the young employees from taking the Tyre off the one in my truck, have to order ok price ? don't know? have Thai made will do. what about ply same ? still had to bang on my truck to stop them changing anything . how much Thai Tyre . 5400 dearer the Michelin i brought some time back I said. i want one today will go to look . We give free balance etc if you buy from here !! so i go to dunlop opposite mission hospital going towards the airport ,its the store! they sent me across the road to the other dunlop dept drove straight in, same as the other place there are young Thais trying to take the wheel out the truck 'dill gone' i said loudly means wait in Thai then a young woman came, what you need i want a Michelin like this i said you have she checked on the radio to the store no we have to order but we have good Thai made where i said . she took me to a rack i looked at the price on the tyre the same name as the one previous price on tag said 4500 you want one or two she said how much for two 3800 i give good discount sure was better , i tell you what i said i buy two and you balance and please change my best Tyre to the spare OK , and best Price, she said 7000 i thought that's not too bad just wanted one Tyre, but they are old, ok I want them on the back please and don't forget to tell them about the spare the next thing the youngsters are taking the front tyres off ? hey whats going on ? You have to have the new on the front safer. I had thought OK i buy these today and change the front later i was till trying to work out what had caused the uneven wear on the rear Tyre I thought i can keep a close watch on new Tyre s old one's no perhaps the rubber is past its life span. I have seen a lot of Tyre wear over the years and there are booklets to tell you what certain patterns of wear indicate, whats wrong with steering and other stuff, but nothing like this so i have to say Dunlop seemed well organised and they are probably right, about putting the new pair on the front, as its best . Info -- they are cheaper and seem to now their stuff the youngsters are just eager to take every thing off and do what they want however i did not say OK ,do it today, I will come tomorrow so I would say its possible to bargain and I feel it was the best place for any one to try I did not go to manit , sorry its a long post I hope it has given some info. Michelin's seem rare, though still would like to find the old chalong shops new place riley76

==== Update returned to the Tyre shop which i thought was DUNLOP as there is a massive sign I wrote the deal out and printed it out addressed to dunlop this caused some confusion as the first young women thought i wanted Dunlop tyres and they would be very expensive, she sent for the other young woman who speaks excellent English her nick name is O she is sales and the daughter of the owner, i showed her the deal sheet two maxxis tyres 3500 each put on the front and balance, put the front tyres on the rear, change the best old tyre to the spare as it had a plug in it total cost 7000 O said ok i said i want to keep the badly worn tyre to see what caused the problem ok yes, she said and gave the tyre crew instructions the i was concerned they might not know what i wanted so followed them about they did, they said come look, i looked into interior of the problem. Tyre it once had a knife thrust into it in Patong i was parked in a tuk tuk !!! zone Yeah The repair shop, [chalong had vulcanized patch in.two years ago] A balloon had developed causing the balance to go hay wire THE WHOLE JOB WAS DONE IN 30 MINS I asked Khun O if the shop ever told people about the reason for tyre wear , She said. we used to, stopped about three years ago. as we felt customers thought we were trying to make more work . total cost 7000 And complete satisfaction from me. out on the road it drove like a dream, Gentlemen, i recommend this Tyre place called NUENGYANONT IN THAI [means number one] UNDER THE DUNLOP SIGN sorry i shouted i feel they are number one. the place is professional the staff excellent well impressed. at the way i was treated by every one from the owner down, O s Thai name is Nartsine means the one who will help you ! Riley 76

  9. I can confirm the shop opposite tesco is expensive, and the times I've been there, they never had the size I needed, so they needed to order from BKK etc. After being quoted, I looked and called around and found the same tires cheaper and in stock at Manit.

I must have caught him on a good day then as I tried Manit ,the place behind Jung Ceylon and a couple on Thep Rd.

Bridgestones for a D-Max and he was the cheapest

well thanks to all posters, aint it confusing, i will go to the place opposite Tesco. hoping to see if it is the same people. they were always good for punctures etc But when isked for new tyre price it was 1000 more than the one i brought in chiang mai, So here is the sad bit. in the UK one can read all the vehicle adverts Tyre price etc, we have two phuket weeklies in English ,and not an advert from a Tyre shop, so price, is what they want to charge, just wish there was adverts

to compare. Will post if its the same people, if i recognize them, thanks to all, without George's creation Thai visa, where would we be. i did find a private Thai garage that was awesome and cheap, when trying to get the reason for bouncing and wobble, [Cockpit etc was less than useless] the Thai mechanic said change that tire i took it off this morning and did not believe the damage to the tread almost like it had been in acid. The Thai garage is just down the soi from IT city [on the bypass road] don't know the name, its on the left no sign, next to a coach park, it was recommended to me by a mate who once was a gazette editor,I am so impressed with the place i will get more info / its a real garage engines in pieces, gear boxes, rear axles, wonderful,a complete check of the steering linkages with me, wheels, drive etc 100 baht i gave him 200 Riley 76

  13. Ok, that's good to know, So is it like Jungceylon, spend 100 baht, get a couple of hours free. So long as there are more parking spaces, that's fine by me. I find it's a nightmare finding a space even at 11.00.

post4946333= well, now that they have made sure, one has to go to a ticket booth, with cones every where, its worse than it ever was, they have gone cone happy ,its single lanes. parking is a nightmare now, hard work before, as well as getting out ,I don't mind the fee, its the joy of the money collectors marshaling the cars into giant tail backs, i wanted to do a u turn, impossible, its coned, parking was bad, now, its for sure worse I like central i wont be going there again with my car, park in makro big c and walk or join the parked vehicles out side Thainan please lets have public transport across the island, yes i know there are sort of buses , even the tuk tuks are fighting for space

I am sure one of you will find it ok do tell, you wont believe the chaos. i was going to a meeting to night there, but not now. riley 76

  14. Hi I want to dispose of some old printers monitors and a computer

I know in some countries, they have an e waste recycle program for these and for old mobiles as well

they get gold from them, plus other metals, in India they recycle petro chemical plastic's back into petrol and diesel

never happen here, but it sure would get rid of the plastic waste, Any one know of a special recycle place .

for this kind of stuff , i know many of the the normal ones thanks Riley76

  15. Yes, i feel your pain, at least they only took me for the 50,000 baht daily limit (and I thought the daily limit on my card was 20,000 baht). Maybe I lucked out as I stopped the card early the next day. Kasicorn bank not the least bit help, police accepted the report but did nothing.

living inkata post 5040723 on the same subject i always transfer monthly money from UK card at lotus BKB always the same, never use the UK card anywhere else, some time ago, i was sent a letter from UK bank, saying i had over drawn . the reason was 3000 pounds spent in drinking dens in China, shock shock i managed to convince them i had never been to china, and it was proved that when they swipe ones card, it can be intercepted on the 'phone' line. i am happy to say i was cleared, and suffered no loss, when you sign on passport and card copy;s always write your signature over the atm card copy I still worry every time it takes ages to check my uk ATM card. i feel that skimming and all the other scams to cheat us, are despicable, keep a sharp eye out when using Thai atm cards, as advised on forum, please report any suspect activity riley 76

  17. Thai Embassies and Consulates abroad to be stricter with requirements when applicants are applying for Tourist visas for Thailand.

Does this apply to "Visa Exempt" entry also?

  18. I agree that we "needed some rain" but the flooding we have in the Rawai area is starting to do some real damage. The farmer next us gave up trying to save crop his about an hour ago. I've seen rain this hard before but not for this long. Since I can't change the weather I'll make the best of it, grabbing the SCUBA gear and into the back yard :D

=4648922 biggrin.gifYes we need the rain for the island, But a little too much for the blocked drains and drains that go nowhere yet seem to be built yearly, many run up hill ?blink.gif they, should conserve water . as they, have said they would for years .

At the rate of building the ground water is fast used up. come high dry season. A non bonus for me of the down poursad.gif

Two snakes decided it was time to get out of the rain, a big Cobra and a black skinny thing i have not seen befor about two meters long
