Such pointless and cruel speculation.  This being Thailand it could just as easily been somebody angry because he looked at him the wrong way or some incident on the roadway.  A guy once chased me down and threatened me with a knife because I got in his way somehow.

According to the news, that is most likely what happened, RIP to the poor guy !

I find it a worry that so many hopes seemed to be vaccine based with the conclusion of the end of life as we know it if an effective one is not found.

This would of course be devastating but there is a danger of willing the outcome of social devastation if no vaccine is effective.

Prior to this pandemic, many earlier pandemics happened and following the peak of the outbreak life was able to slowly to return to normal.

Yes many had died, maybe the infection still cropped up but is it reasonable to think that those who survived the pandemic were, for whatever the reason destined to continue life?

I hope an effective vaccine comes soon but surely we cannot close down society if it doesn't.

As long as there is no vaccine, Thailand’s borders will be kept closed,  because a 2 nd wave of infections will be devastating, expats without work permits  may be will be allowed  to return , but they have to get in quarantaine, tourists are not allowed to enter, that means that the tourism industry will get bankrupt.

    This on another forum

Mrs Sriwan also told police that although they had parted ways, she continued to visit him regularly. She said he called her on Tuesday, saying his mother had just sent him 40,000 baht from Germany, and asking her to go with him to pick it up.

When she arrived on Wednesday morning, she said, she discovered his body.

She told reporters that when she arrived, he was still alive, but according forensics he passed away for at least 6 to 12 hours....his daughter told reporters that her parents were fighting each other very often, the mother hurt her father often

Just crossed the border in the South, all they asked for was the T8 form, questionaire about possible symptoms and recent travels, even immigration was a pleasure to deal with, the immigration officer who was a lady even wished me a good day ! When i'd picked me backside up off the floor in shock i legged it across the border quick before they changed their mind...... Probably one of the nicest dealings with immigration in the last two years, maybe Big Oud's reigning em in......... Well done i say, in sharp contrast to the treatment under the Big BJ........  Wonder if he's got his door fixed yet ?

Arrived on the 20th, did an update of the iOS app the day after and had to sign in again, but not able to do so, due to an issue with the login provider, need to fill in my daily health info, but that isn’t possible, contacted AOT but they can’t do much, all they say is be patiënt.

  5. They will not turn him away at the airport due to the stamps not being transferred. They will only transfer the permit to stay from the last extension and he will still need to go to immigration to complete the transfer when her returns.

Getting the re-entry will be more complicated than normal since he will have his extension in the old passport and they will need to do the re-entry permit in new passport.

Trying to get them to not to cancel the old passport will not work. He would be stuck using the passport or departure and entry. Then getting stamps sorted out at immigration might be a problem using two valid passports.

That means I should apply for a re-entry permit at my local immigration, in my old passport and let them transfer it in my new passport at the airport, when I return in August they should transfer my extension in my new passport, am I right ?

If you go to your local immigration office for the re-entry permit they will do the stamp transfers before they do the re-entry permit. If you get your stamps transferred then you can retire your old passport.

At the airport they would only do a partial transfer of all your stamps when you leave the country. You would still need to go your local office to complete the transfer.

Most likely I won't have the time to go up and down to my local immigration on Thursday, so when I don't have my new passport on Wednesday, I will get a re-entry permit in my old passport, and let the officers at the airport transfer that one to my new passport, so I will keep my old passport with the extension stamps in it and let them transfer it in my new passport when I come back.

  6. You should have the stamps transferred at your local immigration office where you can also obtain the re entry permit unless you prefer to get that at the airport.

The problem is, that I will receive my passport at the embassy, my local immigration office is at Ayutthaya, most likely, I'm not sure if I have the time to go there anymore, as I have to catch my flight, if they allow me to do everything at the airport, I will go straight to the airport.

I appreciate your problem but, as stated, the extension of stay can only be transferred at the immigration office.

If you can convince your embassy not to cancel your old passport, you could get the re-entry permit and exit on the old passport. You can then reenter using both passports and transfer the extension stamp on your return.

    Otherwise, you may be stuck.

  7. If you have a visa entry you don't need to go to immigration. You can leave showing both passports on departure.

I will get my new passport next week, most likely I will leave the country on the same day, can I get a transfer of stamps at the airport and apply for a re- entry permit, or should I get a re-entry permit at my local immigration first ?

    More detail required !

What "stamps" are you wanting transferred and why do you want a re-entry permit ?

Extension of stay permit based on retirement stamp, my extension of stay is due on September 6, I will be back in August, there for I need a re- entry permit.

  9. They come act like fools, they think that it's ok to disrespect people and act like they are better than the local people. This happens in this country too often with both Brits and Aussies. They should take away there visa exempt status to visit the country. Make them get tourist visas to come here.

90% of every common Asian who ever worked or visited Australia, will most probably let you now that they were discriminated whilst being there, the land down under, where they once sent all those criminals...........perhaps........... it's in there genes ?

I am caucasion Brit & was discriminated against in Aus - still love the place & now call it home, whats your point?

    Your lucky your caucasian !!!!...???

  11. Just saw an item on Tele about it and they said utes and pickups had been using the bridge.

Looks like it had been grossly overloaded, so nothing to do with bad engineering or workmanship.

it wasn't possible to use it by pickup's, you could hardly cross each other with 2 motorbikes !
