  1. Hi All, I went to the Dutch Embassy today to renew my passport. I made the needed photo's at a shop just oppossite the Embassy (there are 2 shops that can make photo's, but I choose the shop in yellow (under the Tonson building). 150 baht for excellent photo's within 10 minutes. They have the requirements for the Dutch passportphoto's in the shop as well and he measured also the photo (some inside measurements need to be exact!) to check etc. Actually I was going to give Mario2008's advice a try, but arrived there before the openingstime of Central, so just checked out some shops near the Embassy.

Anyway, I thought maybe this info is useful to another Dutch guy here in Thailand :)

Thanks for the info, it will surely save some time !

  2. It changed. I like it a bit more. The first times that I eat Thai food, was Thai-Isarn food made for Thai people. I've always loved Asian food (Indonesian, Singaporean, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai). My Mrss, is a very good cook, always using fresh ingredients without any ajinimoto. Phla tu with nam prick kapi, gaeng som, gaeng khiao waan, kai pa-lo, phu phat gaeng cur-ree, ho mok, thot man, yam pla duk <deleted>, pla nung manao, pla sam rot, well you name it, love it !

  3. Actually, a very poor investment, just 80% secure, better go for the latest body scanners, those are 100% secure.

There are different ways to monitor the scan, done by computer, or possible to let one monitor the scan on distance, so you won't be confronted with that person, nothing to worry about your extra bodyfat or the size of your breasts or whatsoever....

  4. @elkangorito "The only difference is that in the western world, most people have more sense"

The United States has the highest teen pregnancy rate in the industrialized world. The Center for Disease control says that one-third of girls get pregnant before the age of 20. Teenpregnancy.org, a site managed by the National Campaign to Prevent Teen and Unplanned Pregnancy, states that there are "750,000 teen pregnancies annually. Eight in ten of these pregnancies are unintended and 81 percent are to unmarried teens."

The Public Health Agency of Canada states that 25 percent of young women who have intercourse without using a method of birth control will become pregnant within one month.

10.000 is peanuts with the figure above :)

  5. I am trying to register Kasikornbank with Paypal. The problem is the drop down list of Thailand's banks is in Thai at Paypal.

There are about 30 banks on it or so and I am attempting to match up the Thai alphabet with the bank names that appear on Paypal with the way Kasikornbank name appears in Thai on there letter head or website. But, it does not match with any of the 30 banks.

Can anybody spell the name of the bank as it appears in Thai in the drop down list at Paypal? It appears Paypal has added something after that Kasikornbank as it appears on there letter head.

Anyway, I can't figure it out and any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Bill

http://www.kasikornbank.com/ check their website for the correct spelling

Im not 100% sure Bill but it might be worth looking at the top of the page to see if there is a English button

i just mention this as my wife has a Thai paypal account and on the front page it gives the option for Thai or English.

Failing this get a Thai friend or partner to take a look

let us know how you get on

  6. What is TAN ch 26. Can I get it in Pattaya?

Thai ASEAN News - I don't know enough about Thai TV to be sure, but when my TV card scanned for channels, in my apt. at least, TAN appeared on channel 26. No idea what package they're feeding me, but it's and English language channel with news and twee infomercials, shouldn't be difficult to find if you have it.

A new statement is being made now by Suthep Thaugsuban (Deputy PM) on all news channels (except TAN :o ) .

TAN is the English version of ASTV ( The Yellow mob's leader Sondhi Limtongkhul is the owner ), a channel to be trusted ?

  7. F***

What is happening with you Thai's!

Lots of protests but no one putting forward answers.

You live a democracy, you make your bed you lie in it!

In the mean time you can work on changes!

Maybe I have lived in a world of stability born in the UK and moving to Oz in 1990 when I was 28.

I see good and bad in Taksin, he was certainly a shrewd leader.

    What do you want?

The Yellow shirts to appoint their own leader for Thailand?

Or the red shirts to appoint Taksin as their leader for Thailand?

Yes that would be a dictatorship!

    Let's see some answers here!

Turn on Channel 3 if you want some answers. Thai drama is still on. (Slapping & yelling and loasd of cute chicks) Apart from a few idiots who are paid to cause trouble the majority still doesn't give a shit what's going on. It's the minority and the rest of thais are still lovely smiling people who like to live in peace.

Channel 3/ 5/ 7/ 9/ and 11 are all army channels, do you really believe, that they will show you all the shit and make things worse than it is ?

  8. Hi! Was considering a trip to Poipet to visit the casinos in no-mans-land (but really; Cambodia) for 1-2 days.

I understand that Thais do not need to get visa to Cambodia in order to go gambling in the Poipet casinos, but have on the other hand heard of visa-runners needing to cross into Cambodia/get visa before beling allowed into Thailand again (I presume to re-start their 30/90 days of course, but have heard of others having trouble getting the Cambodian visa (for whatever reason) and while still having days left allowed in Thailand, not being allowed back in...stuck in no-mans-land! :D ).

I am not doing this trip for visa purposes as on a (Thai) non-em B w. yearly extensions.

Just read article in Bangkok Trader where a foreigner stated that we do not need a Cambodia visa as we do not cross into Cambodia/emmigration check-point, but would like a few more comments from people in the know here! :o

    Cheers!

I had the same thoughts, but had to take a Cambodian visa, I went out on a re-entry permit !
  9. I will be picking up a new SUV this Monday and i do not seem to be able to get a straight answer on whether i can drive my car out of the Chonburi provence or not on red plates. i have searhed the forum for any previous posts, but with no luck.

If anyone could guide me on this, i would be very grateful.

    thanks,

When my wife got her car a couple of years back she asked this very question to Toyota. To get out of Chonburi on Red plates, she had to pay a little bit extra to the garage and they supplied her with Red plates that allowed her to travel wherever. We had a look around and many new cars waiting to be picked up were wearing a similiar numbered Red plate but the one issued to my wife had a completely different set of numbers (if that makes any difference :o ). We drove to Hua Hin and Chiang Rai and never had an issue. I am not sure how you would approach this question without being Thai but worth a go!

As long as you drive your car during day time, you will be allowed to use it out of the Chonburi provence, when you collect your SUV, they will give you a brown booklet , when you are going out of the provence or planning to do a long distance trip, you should write down, where your trip is going to..

  10. ??

so now they have 2 mobile phone sim cards - probably Thai - so how hard is it for them to have the phone companies monitor calls to these numbers , use cell phone tower triangulation to get a pretty close approximation of the caller and then find the fcuker.

even in cases where the bomb actually exploded - it should be a simple task to see what phone stopped working in the bomb area, see what number was used to call it etc.

this seems to be basic ineptitude on the part of the security forces - their job is to put pressure on these people exploding bombs until they make mistakes or decide it is all too hard.

sounds easy, but what if those sim-cards were unused ?
  11. My wife (Thai from origin), got a Dutch pasport on her first visit to Holland, when she went back to Thailand, she actually entered on her Dutch passport, that means she stays on a 1 year non-immigrant visa in Thailand, her first Thai passport is expired and she got a new 1 in BKK , I discussed this matter with an immigration officer, who told us, that she should leave Thailand on her Dutch - and enter Thailand again on her Thai passport, it sounds very easy, but I assume she will get problems when she returns with a sober passport (no stamps of departure from Thailand).

Does anyone have any experience with this matter ?
