Your wife will have to be with you when you apply. You will need your marriage certificate plus a copy, copies of your wife's house book registry and ID card. The fee for it is 1900 baht.

Is there a Visa required for Canadians if go to Savannakhet, or is passport sufficient? Also, if i'm employed from Singapore can i use that as proof of income rather than the 400K in the bank?

  2. The reason i am worried is, i requested to an person to check black list, 1st day told not black listed, next day told i have been black listed for working with out an work permit.

I went with a friend to leave Thailand and he had tax owed to the revenue department and they denied him the ability to leave Thailand. He had to wait and go to the revenue the next day and clear the tax owed.

  3. Hello,

Can someone please help me out by providing the email address that I should use for submitting my re-entry application prior to arriving Monday morning, 19 April. I need to fly to Singapore Monday late afternoon and think that it will be tight since many people will be going to do the same after the Songkran holidays.

If anyone knows of a method to speed up the process while I am there I would appreciate any details you can provide. I plan on bringing my ticket with me that will show my flight out that day, but i'm not sure if it will help or not.

    Regards, James

  4. Hi,

That time of year again, my assistant has just returned from the labor department in Bangkok and has told me that in order to get approved for the 2 year workpermit the company needs to have 50,000,000 Baht is yearly income. Last year during the renewal they asked which one we wanted, 1 or 2 years, and we were told it was up to the person signing if you get it or not.

Has anyone received an actual set of criteria for getting a 2 year versus a 1 year work-permit? I'm married to a Thai, and have had a Work-permit for 15 consecutive years

    Appreciate your replies..

    James

  5. Anyone now how I can get the "Certification that the applicant has no criminal record in his or her overseas domicile", I'm originally from Canada but have lived in Thailand since 1994, haven't been back to Canada since 1995.

Appreciate if someone knows of a way to get this in the shortest period of time, I would like to apply under the spouse category, I have over 10 years continual stay uninterrupted, but I don't have the above certificate.

Thanks in advance for all that reply.

  6. just been informed by a UBC operator that because of the channel reshuffle last nite all Ala Cart channels

will be indefinitely suspended due to insufficient numbers of transponders on the single dish

configuration in a hi rise and other places where they use the single dish for multi users,

meaning, we are back to the old Gold setup with the usual old channels without all the new

and extra one, platinum members are not spared either,

how long long before it will back to normal ? i asked, well, i don't know he said,

the funny thing is that today i got a notice of yearly renewal for the next 12 months that includes

the Ala Cart and the other channels,

case of right hand not knowing what the left is doing,,

I had the same problem with the ala cart channels, just finished talking with them and the operator said it was a problem with my building. I attempted to explain to her that the building has not changed a thing, and that the only thing different is the new channel lineup with the 2 new channels Asian Series and Hay ha, which are provided for free with the standard package.

This is a similar problem that we had last year when they had moved the platinum channels able 100, then a couple of days later the changed them back to resolve the problems.

What ticks me off is that they knew this was a problem before they did it, they did not inform me in advance. I asked why they didn't call and she said that they could not call all customers, i said she didn't need to since only buildings customers with Ala Cart channel are effected. I also inquired why they didn't use email, or the messaging system build into the boxes or the teletype messages to inform me in advance.

The only thing I was told they could do for me was disconnect the service, or install a satellite dish on the building for me directly. She was nice enough to tell me that they already informed the building and that they thought that was the best way to tell its direct customer. Noting that the building provides free cable but I have chosen to get my own platinum subscription since they only had the basics.

Anyone have any idea what a subscriber can do to stop this type of thing happening, seems that they disregard customers with little thought at all.

  7. Hi,

I am due for renewal of my NON-O Marriage Visa and Work Permit on 11 Jan 2008, this is my 3rd renewal now based on 40K income.

    Back ground:

    1) We live and work In Bangkok

    2) Company operating 4+ years

    3) 5,000,000 Registered Capital

    4) Profit every year

    5) 4 Thai Staff

    6) 2 Foreigners, myself and 1 other who have a multiple entry NON-IMM B visa and Work Permit

I believe this is simple process but have the following questions:

    Visa Questions:

    1) What document(s) I need to produce to prove the 40K income when doing the renewal?

    2) How many days in advance of the expiry are needed for the application?

    3) What other supporting paperwork is required besides My Passport, Wife's ID and House Papers, Birth Certificates of kids and proof of Income?

    Work Permit Questions:

    1) What form do we do for renewal? Can it be downloaded?

    2) What supporting paperwork is required for the renewal?

    3) What additional requirements must we meet above and beyond what we have already?

    4) How many days in advance of the expiry are needed for the application?

    Appreciate your assistance and replies...

Anyone have any feedback for me on this? Was it my topic name or something else that caused no one to reply?

  9. There certainly are regular shifts in position on matters of Thai Immigration, not to mention 'movings of the goal posts'; that is why many people study this forum carefully to look for any signs or notice of change.
One note on Thai government websites, they are not kept up in realtime particularly when they need to translate it to English from Thai. They could easily be a week or more out of date. I know places like Sunbelt are in phone contact with the government daily. As volatile as the situation is now in Thailand with the Thais seemingly changing their minds weekly, it's your choice where you want to get the latest information from.

Certainly you can never be too careful and it always worth double checking that 'facts' really are facts.

I obtained another 1 Year Multiple Entry Non-Immigrant B Visa mid September in Penang - with the correct paperwork. The MFA link translation listing required paperwork that I quoted earlier in this thread is both up to date and is to the best of my knowledge pretty accurate.

I'll let you know how it goes, flying out Sunday and back Wednesday morning... Thank for all the replies!

  10. Hi Everyone,

I am going to Penang to get a new Non-Imm B Multiple Entry Visa, current one expires next week and I have a valid work permit and have been paying tax since starting work in June 2007.

    1) What are the required documents that I need to bring personally for the new visa?

    2) What documents should I get from my company for the new visa?

    3) Anyone know how long it takes in Penang from start to finish, 2 days, 3 or more?

    4) Any good hotel at a reasonable price close to the Thai consulate?

    5) Should I get help with my application or do it by myself, if I should get someone, anyone know of a good company (tel and contact details)?

    Appreciate all responses and advice,

    Canadian in bangkok

  11. Do you have an extension of stay or a one year multi entry B visa?  Your work permit is valid how long?

Is company something you set up and now trying to find out how much you have to pay yourself or employment for someone else?

My guess would be that you need 60k to receive extensions of stay unless/until you change to O visa for support of Thai wife but perhaps some of the business guys can answer you better.

    Hi Lopburi,

I have an extension of stay, and work permit is valid till Dec 30th 2005 along with the visa extension..

It's my own company, and I would like to know the salary for myself..

Is it possible to change to a O visa from the B based on a monthly salary or do you need to show the 400K to do so?

Again I'm looking for correct method to reduce my tax not to avoid it.

  12. Its not clear. How old are you?

There is a suggestion that, if you are applying for a Non-Imm O visa  based on marriage you might have to ensure at least 400,000B is paid into.or stashed in wifes's Bank Account. If you are 50+ you can probably get away with Non-Imm O Visa on basis of age and income of minimum 60,000B + or 800,000B iin the bank

I thought Non-Imm B was just based on the fact that you had a salary in Thailand from a company, nothing to do with wife or kids??

Looks to me as though lawyers/accountants/company have not read the papers carefully. However if you have the visa,,good for you BUT check everything if you want renewal...paricularly if you apply for different category..ie O not B

I'm 35 years young so do not qualify for the 50+...

I'm on a 1 year extension based on working for a Thai company, which I also own. The last company I worked for that ended in December had my salary at 50,000 Baht..

You are correct, the Non-Imm B was not based on supporting a Thai wife but the funny part is they asked for the marriage certificate along with the birth certificates of the two kids..

    appreciate your help..
