  1. I've read this post from start to finish. What the hel_l are most of you people on????? Crack freaking cocaine???

Who cares who stole the mat. The woman had possesion of an item that clearly did not belong to her. I don't give two flying rats <deleted> how many bloody kids she has and what she's missed out on.

How about conducting herself in an orderly and respectful way, when in someone elses country.

Aussie pranks don't wash anywhere but in Australia.

Theft is theft - Black and white - No grey areas.

Whoever put the dam_n bar mat in the supposed friends bag is a dumb bitch.

41 year old Pommie? If not sure whinge like one! :)

It is on the news now:

Paid $30 fine, passport handed back and suspended 6 month Jail for pleading guilty!

Fine paid by Mayor of Phuket!!!!!!

    SO ALL OVER!

I don't believe that was whinging. Not 41 and also not a Pom.

    Personal shots mean nothing.

    Facts are facts.

It sure as shit will not stop me returning to Phuket.

Change your "Judy1968" it's a dead give away!... If you want to appear younger :D

Great minds think alike. Will do.

  4. I agree. In my opinion Neil's Tavern have the best steaks around. They only use meat imported from US and Australia.

Dunno know about Australia but cattle in the US are corn fed (not grass fed). And when they are fed an unnatural diet such as corn feed it usually leads to a more acidic rumen which leads to bacteria that are resistant to lower pH levels. In turn these animals must be routinely medicated with antibiotics to fight infection. In addition, american beef were banned in europe becuase they believe U. S. beef cattle are implanted with synthetic hormones in feedlots prior to slaughter. What's wrong with hormones in beef ? The risk of breast and other cancers only increases with hormones in meat. Sorry if I spoiled your appetite.

The majority of Australian beef is grass fed. Steroids are illegal in our country. You've put me off eating US beef. I've never tried it but was willing to until I read your post.

I've had corn fed chicken and it's bloody gross.

Anything that has been genetically modified is more likely to give you some nasty little surprises. It's time we educated people.

  5. Do you know Thai script?

Word of advice ..... go to a translation office and have then write down the Thai script you want. Then get the script verified by a third party, before you even think about having it tattooed. I've heard a few stories about Thai tattooist writing something obscene in Thai. Be very careful .....

Wise words 'LivininKata', I'll do that. I won't get anything tattooed on my virgin skin if it hasn't been authenticated.

    Thanks.

  6. Hi,

I've scoured the internet and read reviews about where the best place is to get a tattoo done while in Phuket. I've come up with Siam tattoo on Soi Easy.

I've tried to email them several times as I'd like to send my images to them and get an opinion from them on how long, and if its a can do.

I've recieved no response and short of printing it out and taking it with me when we go, or sending it snail mail (even then I wouldn't know if it was received), I don't know how else to get in contact with them.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've been trying email for the last few weeks and we're headed off in a few weeks so running out of time.

    Any help will be appreciated.

Do you really want to compromise your personal health...cloning yourself like the rest of the Tattoo Morons foreign and home grown in Thailand???

IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING CONSTRUCTIVE TO SAY BARNEY, THEN ZIP IT.

  7. Am from Siam Tattoo is a close friend of mine, send me a PM and ill pass on the info for you, ill be seeing him in a few days actually, and yes as far as phuket goes he is top ranked in my opinion, has multiple trophies and degree's in art, you wont be dissapointed

Firstly, thank you to all. You have been great with your help.

I will take you up on the offer of the message to Am but the thing is, I'm new to this forum stuff and I am unsure how to private message you.

We will be in Phuket next month and I plan on seeing the guys from Siam Tattoo. I have been told that Am is the best followed by some lady in Nai Harn from Siamese 5.

I'm afraid, as one of the members posts suggested, I don't want to ask for my daughters name and my wedding details in Thai script only to be given 'purple monkey dishwasher' in it's place.

If you are a personal friend of Am's, please tell him that Judy & Dave will be coming to see him on Saturday 21st March to book in for the 2nd April for some accurate Thai script.

I'm learning Thai at the moment, just having been able to get my head around the Thai alphabet to figure it out for myself.

    Thanks again.

  8. Hey Barney, its people like you that sometimes make this forum not enjoyable for some people.

Judy, There are numerous tattoo artists in phuket, Patong especially. Im sure some members here will give you some solid information, but I think you will be fine just walking in and making an appointment , what are you getting by the way?

    Hi,

I'm after my daughters name in thai script. Both my husband and I are after our names and the year we were married to commemorate our 12 year wedding anniversary this year.

    Do you know Thai script?

  10. Hi,

I know it fluctuates from day to day dependant upon the value of the US dollar but does anyone know of a realtime currency conversion web site that's reliable?

I've tried XE.com, Oanda, and a couple of others. I've had XE on my desktop and have been using that one as the most accurate site for a couple of years.

I really only want to know what the conversion rate is today. As I said, I know it will probably change tomorrow. Also I realise that the rate given on these sites won't be the same as the currency conversion places in Thailand.

    Anyone got any ideas?

  11. There is a Come Inn bar on Rawai beach front road, its near chalong??? they serve great fish and chips, that must be it.

    Hi,

Thanks for the info. That must be it.

As for the rest of you, I'm glad you had fun with this thread.

I was laughing my head off at some of the comments. You guys are funny.

The info was read on the net. He actually asked me to post the thread to find out where it was.

Thanks for those pictures, it doesn't look like the type of place I'll be going to, to eat "Fish and chips"

    :o

  12. My husband has mentioned a place called the come in bar that is apparently located somewhere near the Chalong pier. It does great fish and chips.

Does anyone know where it is and if so please give me some kind of directions.

    Thanks

    :o

  13. Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone can give me a little advice on hiring a vehicle in Patong. I've emailed a zillion of them with response from only one and that was quite cryptic.

My husband and I are going to Phuket in 8 weeks and want to hire a small 4WD for a couple of days while we're there.

Nothing fancy. We have both got our international licences so that's taken care of.

Any info will be most appreciative.

  14. Hi All,

I'm new to the site so hello.

My Husband and I have visited Phuket twice and love the place. We love it so much that we want to eventually buy a small condo and retire there. I have consequently been learning the Thai language for an hour each day for the last three months and I've hit a snag.

The site that I've been using is called its4thai and thought I was doing really well until my Husband decided to buy a Thai phrase book and dictionary. Some of the Thai words that I'm learning on its4thai clash with some of the exact same words in the Berlitz Thai Phrase book and dictionary.

I'm starting to wonder if there might be different dialects in different parts of Thailand where some of the words for the same things may differ.

If anyone has any light to shed on this subject, I would be most grateful as we are heading back to Thailand next year in March and I want to practice what I've learned but don't want to discover that I've wasted all of these hours so far, learning a dialect that may be used in a different part of Thailand.

Having said that, I'd like to discover that now, rather than continue learning a dialect that I can't use.

Any help out there would be well received.

    Thanks
