  1. I don't see it matters, he hired the Baht Bus for an exclusive ride, 100 or 200 baht he should honour his agreement. It's not the driver's fault the customer hasn't researched the distances involved. However, that doesn't excuse the cowardly violence on the part of the driver.

    Yup....

Surprised he didn't call more than one mate !!

  2. Not defending the actions of the driver by any means but didn't the guy agree to 150 then offer 100. Probably not a good idea in any foreign country over 50 baht.

I'd have to agree here. Anwar and the driver agreed to 150 baht for the ride, and then after services were rendered, Anwar wanted to offer less. And if it's true that he escalated the situation further by being rude and kicking the driver, then I'm not surprised at the eventual outcome.

I'm sort of happy that people like Anwar won't be returning to Thailand for their holidays.

    Hear Hear !!

  3. FrenchFARANGbkk, True now has adsl2+, had mine installed last week (Soi Khao Noi).

Thank you, but how much is it, and does it work well ?

    True better than TTNT ?

Ive never had TT&T, they fuc_ked me over when i was first trying to get connected so ive never been back.

Im on a True's 8mb package @1199B per month, so far it has been fantastic, am loving the 12 minutes it takes to download a movie.

    Spoonman...

What's the procedure for getting true ?? Is it available throughout Pattaya ??

    Cheers

  4. Lopburi, yes understood that, going to the boarder is more of a risk getting stopped on the way to the boarder. Maybe I miss understood "Phatcharanan" as it appears he is suggesting problems at the boarder, however this was my interpretation and I could be wrong as he didn't really elaborate.

Most people who leave by border plan to return in the very near future. Friend had 2 year overstay four years ago. Departed at Sadao (Songkhla province in the south). Application for new visa was turned down flatly due to the lengthy overstay. He went across the road to the British embassy to buy new (cleaner looking) passport. Four days later the visa was granted by the SAME officer who refused him before.

So, YES. You can get out at a border crossing, but getting back into Thailand within a few days may be a nightmare.

  5. Personally i think if you want to stay here and earn western wages then you really need to think outside the box a little .Theres multiple oportunities here to make money but you need to do things different to the Thais .

At the end of the day though its getting more expensive to stay here and the things that set you back heree can take up most your time and you have to aks yourself am i really better off here or not.

Here on Samui it seams like prices have gone up 3 times what they were 3 years ago.Its not the bargain place it used to be .

In eleven years, I have hardly noticed price increases (at a local level). If you are easily distracted, then yes, Samui is getting expensive.

  6. All bars closed today and tomorrow.

    By-election for MP from Suratthani.

ok that eplains why no answer from the bar then! Makes me feel a little bit better, she could have just lost the phone.

    Thanks very much

    Ok

Good news is she's alive! She just called me.

Bad news is she had an altercation with some guy (English) which ended up with him and four of his mates smacking her around! Which resulted in, amongst other things, her phone being smashed! Nobody came to help one small Thai lady as she was attacked by five men! Eventually after about 5 minutes or so, Security staff from a venue nearby came over to stop the fight. She called the police but they didn't come. 'Same here' I told her 'police don't care about poor people' She gave as good as she got and is a tough girl but she now has a badly bruised arm and some damage to her knee. I would imagine the guys have plenty of injuries too but now I'm <deleted>*king seethiing as you can probably imagine!

Firstly I apologised to her for the behaviour of my countrymen, and am still now struggling to comprehend how they would feel the slightest bit justified in doing what they did.

In a way I'm glad I'm not there because I can see myself trawling the area seeking revenge.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at their behaviour given the lack of moral fibre displayed on a regular basis here in London but I still find it astonishing that no-one came to her aid.

Anyway, she's alive which is the main thing. And no hospital bills either! (whew!)

Haven't checked this thread for a while but I must admit I'm surprised and not a little disappointed that no-one feels the need to comment on the fact that 5 english tourists feel that it's ok to beat up a Thai girl in the street in full view of everyone.

Usually on this forum there is at the very least someone who would say somthing like 'well if you will go out with a bar girl what do you expect my wife has white skin and i don't mix with riff-raff'

But nothing, not even a flame....

    speaks volumes

Don't know why I bothered to reply, but I agree with 'bridge' . Speaks volumes not "checking this thread" for a while, even whilst in turmoil and asking others to investigate. The 'Blessing Bar' has been there for over a decade and the girls are sound (even though I hate Chaweng now).
