Check Inn 99.... May it last another 30 years

He founded Der Weinerschnitzel? Didn't know that.
Loved their polish sandwich with saurkraut. Rye bread, polish sausage, mustard, dill pickles and saurkraut. Pair that with some chili-cheese fries and my arteries plugged up in pure rapture.
Especially good at 2:00 am after the bars closed.
R.I.P.

I would give my left nut for a really good Chili Relleno (sp?). I just haven't found one here that floats my boat. I have gone to many places that say they just ran out of chilies. I guess it is hard to find Poblano or Anaheim chilies here.
I am a huge fan of California style Mexican food and nobody really seems to have the knack for it.
Ceviche tostadas and tacos would be a winner for me.
My biggest complaint is that all the restaurants use too much sugar in the dishes. Everything is sweet.

I am looking for someplace in Bangkok that I ca rent or buy classic american movies from the 30's to 80's.
None of the copy places have them and if I order from the US, they are coded NTSC and not useful to me.
the dvd store in siam paragon has a corner with classic movies, might have a couple you'd want.
the one opposite the big cd music shop (they are actually the same store) on floor 3 or 4.
Thanks. I will check it out.

About 2 weeks ago in Brunch magazine in the Sunday Bangkok Post There was an article about this in the Expat Council section.
I believe there is an email contact there.
The guy seems to know quite a bit about laws affecting westerners in Thailand.
Might help.

Wow. Seems to be a lot of ex Santa Cruzans here. Count me among them.
!st concert: Golden Earring, Robin Trower, Sha Na Na (weird combo of acts on the bill, which was par for the course at Bill Graham shows) at Winterland in SF.
At Catalyst: Outlaws, Doobie Bros. ( before hit big) Huey Lewis ( called the Sport Pages when he was trying out new stuff), Johnny Winter, Rick Derringer, George Thoroughgood.
Catalyst had good acts.
In Thailand: Jimmy Buffet - I am a longtime parrothead

When I moved my wife to the US 18 years ago, the one thing that was insisted on was we had to get a new buddha image for the new country. Along with bringing all the existing buddha images.
After 16 years we moved back here two years ago. At first she did want to move back here. Now that she is here, she doesn't want to move back to the states.
The key to her adjustment was to keep busy by going to school to learn English and then working when she was comfortable with her new life.
Important not to push her into things too quickly. Give her time to adjust and do things at her own pace.
She will be almost completely dependent on you for a year or two until she finds her own way in the new world. Be supportive as much as possible.
Mostly common sense stuff. Good Luck.

Hi....
I am wondering if there is an equivalent Thai phrase or saying for " Never give up"? If there isn't a common saying that roughly means the same thing, could some one possibly give me the translation of " Never give up"?
Thanks

Haven't seen the doorman for a long time. Funny little guy. Always gave roses to the ladies.

Try the Check Inn. On Sukhumvit between soi 3 and 5 across from the Landmark. I have never had a bad steak steak there. They have been there forever. They pour good falang style drinks also. The band has been there as long as I can remember. I have been going there for twenty years or so.
I still go there about every one ot two months. Not hugely expensive.

Had a good time last night. George... Thanks for the drinks.
It was good to put some faces with the names.
Thithi...
Happy Birthday. Sorry that we did not get formally introduced.

I have never been able to get a decent answer to this. I never see any here. I am wondering if it is legal to import them.
Pinballs are one of my guilty pleasures that I have been missing.
Anybody have an answer?

Thanks...
That is sort of what I was thinking, but wasn't sure if it was a disease or infestation of some kind.

I was taliking to my driver about the rain and he kept trying not to laugh. Instead of Fon tok I was saying Num tok (spicy beef salad). I was saying it was rainng beef salad.

I found them at Talad Thai in the nursury / garden section. Off Vivavadhi / Rangsit hiway just past the Klong Luang turn off. Almost in Nava nakorn.

I have several mature mango trees at my house. This year they have all developed a sticky covering on the leaves that is dripping a sticky substance like rain, covering everything. This did not happen last year.
Does anybody have an idea of what this is and what is causing it?
I have reserched on line and can't find anything about it. Have any of you Thai Visa folks encountered this?
Thanks.

Any news on Don Mueng? I live close by and the protests have messed up traffic big time.

Thanks.
I will give it a try.

Try www.margaritavillecargo.com
Margaritaville is a branded Jimmy Buffet item. Probably only available online.

Tried a few shops in BKK. Retail only. No air service.
Guess I'll have to take it back down to Pattaya to get it filled again.

Because it is more than 10 Liters. 10 Liters and above is considered wholesale use for business so they are exempt from the time restrictions.
It was a loophole put in place so restaurants and bars would be able restock before legal sale times.
