  1. The movieseer film listing website has been rendered unusable by possibly the worst redesign since someone decided the Titanic could get by with fewer lifeboats :)

Anyone know of a decent alternative (or have the ear of the site's owners, to tell them to go back to plan A?)

  2. Yeah, ChefsXP is generally good for a bone-idle type like me. My only gripe is that most of the places don't serve after 10.30pm (Sunrise being the exception) which is a pity for night owls in need of a feed when they get home

  3. The new Wembley is a soulless concrete mess in the middle of an industrial estate - you can't even get a pint unless you turn up six hours early and get lucky with a pub two miles away up a huge hill (or can afford seven quid for a pint of urine in a plastic glass inside). The MillStad is atmospheric and bang in the middle of a superb city centre, full of pubs and restaurants, well linked to public transport and with a well-planned park and ride system. Same with St James' Park. Even Old Tra$$ord is better, albeit it looks more like a Tesco than a football ground these days. And now we're building a new stadium for the Olympics a few miles away (which is going to be demolished straight after the games) only a couple of years after out half a billion quid national stadium opened. It's a wonder England can even get picked to host the world tiddlywinks championship, never mind the world cup or the Olympics.

  4. *bump*

Is there anyway to find out what film is screening in Pargon's screen 4 without being at the centre? I think their website is down at the moment.

    :)

While i'm at it, Let the Right One in is opening in House next week.

All should see it. The best film I saw all last year.

Movieseer.com is pretty handy for all cinemas, including Paragon, although not updated far enough in advance for my liking

  5. So are the cretins going to put their water pistols away after today are are the extra two days' holiday going to be an excuse for an extra two days of idiocy?

Would LOVE another two days..!! Realistically though I don't think it will happen, other than perhaps some small kids in the sois..

Don't be so grumpy, gramps. :o

To be honest it's not too much to ask - small kids or big adults - to stick to soaking those who are playing rather than those who are busy, going to work, just not interested etc. You don't have to be lobotomised to live here buy, hey, it seems to help

  6. Just found out now. Its at The National Stadium near MBK

Be careful - don't mistake the national stadium near MBK for the actual national stadium, out on the motorway towards Suvabunrhumi - a mistake a few friends of mine mde during the AFC championships a couple of years ago. I'd make sure you know for sure before setting ff!

  7. Right, about 2.45am Tuesday my team, Blackpool, are playing Wolves in a live televised game. I know there are one or two pubs that show the English Championship games, Gullivers for one, but anybody have any idea if they will be open tomorrow at that time in the morning?

    Sukhumvit area preferred!

  8. It's at 207 Rachadapisek Road

No I mean the one on Ratchapsidek Rd - think it's Huai Khwang
PLEASE can anyone tell me the best BTS/MTR station for the One Stop Shop for work permits/visas? Can't find it anywhere on the net

Assume you are talking about Rasa tower....closest is Central and you have to get a taxi from there

Are sure this is not RASA tower II, this is the only one stop I am aware of in the area, then its not on Ratchapsidek, its on Phaholyyothin which is a road which joins into Ratchapsidek ?

If this is Rasa tower then go MRT to Phaholyothin Station and jump a taxi or walk, walk is about 10minutes..

If its not RASA tower, where on Ratchapsidek as would be interested to know for future reference

  10. The OP has no chance of getting a ticvket for the away end at Stoke, and if he/she goes in the home end I'd advised him/her not to wear any colours of shout support for Utd. Stoke fans are not the friendliest bunch to say the least and I wouldn't put too much faith in the 'neutral area' cobblers that the travel firm comes out with. To put it bluntly, if you shout support for a visiting team in a home area you will probably be ejected. If you show support for a visiting team around the stadium or even around the city, you have every likelihood of suffering physical violence, so take care. The bad old days of English hooliganism are behind us, but that doesn't mean elements aren't there, especially in a town like Stoke.

that said, even if you don't get into a United game, you should definitely take in an English soccer game, the atmosphere for a good match is something else. I'd strongly advise checking on tickets before you leave but for most games, away from the big clubs, you should be able to get a ticket on the day (although you may save a decent sum of money by buying in advance from the club)
