  1. correction, I double checked the price and the new set is listed at over 13000, so I sell it for 8000 thb sorry for the mistake.

The set includes 9 irons, 3 woods, putter, big bag, small bag, umbrella, 3 animal plouches to cover the woods. They are very light made of graphite. Some of them are completely never used. I will send photos if interested.

  2. Aeon,

Hmmm...yeah chinese characters would be hard to understand for me too. If the album title is in Roman characters, then I can somehow try to retrieve this album.

Is this something you downloaded from Internet or a CD you bought in a Chinese shop around BKK?

    Thanks for your help,

    Ryle

I got the original cd few years back, no idea where it is gone, I have only the mp3 on ipod right now, if I am not wrong one of the songs in the video is translated as "plentiful year", I hope that helps, but if you go to a shop around chinatown and ask for chinese new year songs I am sure you will find them, they are very popular songs.

  3. Aeon,

Your Chinese New Year video is very impressive. I watched it 3 times. I particularly enjoy the soundtrack music that makes the whole clip very lively. What is that music from ?

Thanks for your reply and keep it up!

    Ryle

Thank you very much, I don't know the titles or author but if I am not wrong they are part of a compilation of traditional chinese new year songs. If you need the titles, I can find out, I can't read chinese so difficult to remember, and I don't have with me now but I should have somewhere.

  4. I work in this field and I can say that I never seen any good school for this in bangkok (of course I hope there are), I know some universities explore this field but not enough to be ready for production after completing the course.

  5. the link I just posted seems to works fine, if you refer to a previous link posted on "shot on 7d" thread is because I wrongly put www before vimeo but it actually doesn't need it. The correct link for that previous video is http://vimeo.com/10528732 please let me know if it is impossible to access, I have no problem to open it.

The firmware 1.2.1 as far as I know fixes the problem of magenta banding on photos taken during video shooting with some iso settings, they also extended quite a lot the heat signal while shooting video in high temperature and consequently extended the auto shut down time. I think there are other fixes with languages etc, but I am not affected as I have only eng/jap languages. I guess something more thant that but just I dont remember all now.

  6. wow 7d prices went so low recently, I am one of those who saved 10000 thb buying it in japan when in bangkok was 59000 thb, and I confirm that warranty is only in japan and menu are only in eng/jap, but other than that I am pretty happy with it. I also inform all of you willing to upgrade the firmaware that canon released version 1.2.1.

And please check out my new videos shot with 7d if you can: http://vimeo.com/user3262413

  7. I had terrible experience with DHL, and very pleasant delivers from UPS. Once I sent some gifts through DHL marked as gift to europe, the total value was less than 150 euro in value, and they charged my relative (the receiver) 200 euro of taxes and surcharges (more than the actual value of the items). My relative didn't pay because they never delivered the package to him, but he has been only informed by phone and has to go to collect it, and when there (twice) they changed the amount to pay (220 euro first and then 200), and when he requested a document that states what the taxes are for, they said they are not authorized to release any document. So I requested to dhl in thailand to resend the package back to me. When the package came back, they asked me to pay the 200 euro taxes, plus the 90 euro for shipping back. I asked why I should pay taxes to spain if the items never crossed the borders of customs in europe, and they later called me to pay only the shipment, I refused and said I will not pay, and after talking with a supervisor they called me back and said I will receive it back at no charge. In the end I couldn't deliver the package and the gifts to my family, I lost the money of the first shipment, and more than 2 months of wasted time and phone calls. With UPS I got 2 packages from europe to thailand and never got any charges (but were not new items).

  8. I'm going to Koh Samet for 4 days starting tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll get plently of sun, blue sky, and water reflections to test it.

    Results next week... :)

The one thing I haven't quite figured out is when I end up with an occasional photo where the blue sky is way too deeply dark blue due to the polarizer. I just can't get my brain around what causes that anomaly.

normally happen with very wide lenses, because they capture a very wide angle and more rays are coming into the lens from more directions and the polarizer cutting out more of the incident wavelenghts.

  9. if you are not willing to pay for the full version of photoshop you can try photoshop LE that is a limited version of photoshop but still usable and allow to do most of the things that normally you would do in PS. I think this version is missing some of the color management stuff for the print and some other features, but is definitely cheaper running at around 99$, or buying a wacom graphic tablet you may get it included. Another solution can be gimp that is free and very similar software. Unless you have some particular reason to get the full version, this is my suggestion, but evaluate if the limited features in LE version are enough for what you need.

  10. I don't want to rebate on a difficult comparison as 5d vs 7d, but rather I would prefer to add some more info about the 7d (I own one) to avoid any mislead on choosing the right tool for each preference.

First someone stated that you don't get magnification from a tele lens because the sensor size is smaller, this is incorrect as you have to compare the final resolution and being the 7d a 18 mp that makes a magnification, because cropping the same photo taken with the same lens on a 5dmk2 and matching the same crop as the 7d you would not get 18mp but less than 14mp.

This together with being able to shoot 8 frames per second and with more faster and very advanced (zone focus for example) 19 focus point system this makes the 7d better for sport and action photography.

Video mode (not all are interested on this matter, but I am) is much more advanced on 7d, it has a 100% magnification viewfinder, and incorporates a TTL flash trigger so you can trig many flashes at the same time, without additional gadgtes.

Noise levels are "slightly" worse on 7d than 5dmk2 that is a fact, but normally I (and many others) don't shoot at over 1000 iso and the difference is very little up to those high iso. 7D has less noise than other camera with the same sensor size because the way the microlenses in front of the sensor are constructed, they reduced the gaps between them and distance from sensor, and this allow more accuracy on capturing the light.

Another myth is about depth of field, you don't get less narrow depth of field on a cropped sensor as many believe. Depth of field is a property of the lens not of the sensor. If you use same lens, same aperture, and same distance from a subject in focus, you will get the same depth of field on both 5d and 7d. The difference is in the framing. To get the same framing with 7d you need to move back, more far from the subject and this reduce the depth of field (but you could open wider the aperture and compensate with faster lenses). The same is valid for tele, to get the same framing of a 7d with a 5d you need to go closer to the subject. (I don't mention the differences in perspective, but this another argument).

Same is valid for smaller cameras, they have deeper depth of field because of the lenses. Try using an optical 35 adapter (not a ring adapter) on a small camera even a small consumer video camera, and you will get the same depth of field of a 35mm sensor camera, of course is a not convenient tool to carry around, and aliasing and noise are other issues related to sensor size :).

  11. Hmmmm.... far too much Red, Yellow, Mr. T, Mr. A, etc. I think Mr. A is right and if i were him, I would use Mr. T's strategy and introduce a new National Plan to stop this issue. Here is my plan:

They took about 4.6B baht from Mr. T. That is 1000 X 1,000,000B. There are 60 M ID card carrying Thais. Pass a law that says the money that is taken from the people must be used to help the people. Tell the people that they will get 1,000,000 B from the government because of Mr. T's dishonesty. That is only 1.3% of the money that they took from mr. T. But of course there are strings attached. The money is paid out over 5 years. The reciepent of the money must sign an enforceable document that states the following:

    1. They love HM the King

    2. They love Thialand

    3. They believe and agree that the Supreme Courts decision was right, fair and just.

    4. They believe and agree that Mr. T was fairly convicted.

    5. They will not partake in any protests or demonstrations related to this issue for a period of 5 years.

So you give them the money over 5 years. They show up with their ID card and get the money. This Plan brings stability to the country. Ends the issue. And gives a huge stimulus to the economy. Not to mention that the governmetn is only using 1.3% of the windfall free money. If they break the agreement then they must return all of the money with interest.

Too simple....... and we do not have to read any more about this stuff! Hihihihihihihi .... Cheers

They took 40billions from Thaksin not 4.6, anyway 4.6billions is not 1000x1,000,000 and if you give 1,000,000 to each of the 60million people you can't make it with 40billions (1.3% where it come from?) you need 60 trillions or 60,000,000,000,000. If you distribute 40b to 60m people more likely you can give something less than 6700 thb each.

  12. yes or trying to compensate with less level of magenta in a custom white balance, but both photoshop and this solution are a fix but not a solution to the problem...:)

the funny/crazy thing is that with the same filters in the same scene and same light people don't get the magenta cast on canon 20d or film camera but they get it on canon 5dmk2 and canon 7d.

Maybe a different (less powerful) infrared filter in the sensors of these latest cameras?
