I thought you are an easy going guy.
Seems to be, you are a difficult one.........(nayak)
Also amazes me that you expect the Thais to understand about Medium or Rare and most of it Medium rare.
Don't know what restaurants you are eating in, but the ones I eat in, up here, when I order steak, I get a dry piece of beef that can't even chew.
Anyway, when I come to Pattaya, you have to introduce me to some restaurants.

Dear Howitzer, what is the point you are trying to make with this thread?
Or you had nothing better to do, so you decided to torture me, trying to understand what are you going on about?

What's with Greece?
Even in newly built houses, you can not throw toilet paper in the toilet.
In stead you must use the waste basket.
It is because they use narrow drainage pipes.
And no bum guns available.
Most tourist are not aware of this, and keep flushing their toilet paper, resulting in clog ups.
I believe this is a scam, organized by the Greek Plumbers Association, in order to secure jobs.
Others say this is a leftover from the old days, when the left hand was used (savings on toilet paper and bum guns).
That would than explain why Turks consider the left hand to be unclean. (Greeks and Turks are 1 people, but never tell them so!)
WHERE IS COSTAS WHEN YOU NEED HIM? Surely he could contribute to this very intellectual thread.
Maitre, the OP probably is from the UK.
Please tell him, that the stench is not so much from the toilet paper, but from his body as he is used to have a bath once a month back to his Western country.
Also, please tell him that in Greece we always have a bath at least once a day, although we are not western enough to satisfy his standards.
Thank you, Maitre.

It bleeds my heart to know that at least 100 elephants have been slaughtered to satisfy the greed, ignorance and arrogance of some people.
I do hope they burn the tusks and not only warehouse them, so they will find out their way one day to fill the pockets of some other people.

Nothing wrong with that.
I'm sure the dead won't mind a bit about the colour.

Home! I had to stop posting and instead concentrate on driving from the passenger seat. We avoided side swiping a Nissan, and I was constantly reminding him 140km was not mandatory. The missus insisted we finish the journey so I just got him to slow down and had my eyes on a few cars in front.
I think next time i'll drive......
What happened to the car that was following you?
This story can't finish like that..........I want action.........I'm very, very disappointed.
PS. Good to hear you are back home, safe

I can understand the logic of prohibiting alcohol and cigarettes on television adverts, racing cars etc, but going to the extreme of prosecuting for displaying on restaurant menus is IMO ridiculous.
And the key to this whole case " farang expatriates "Serious question, as Soutpeel already pointed out:
Why doesn't the first sentence in the OP read: "In a case that could serve as a warning for restaurants and bars in Thailand,..."
but
"In a case that could serve as a warning for farang expatriates who have restaurants and bars in Thailand,..." ?
Is this just by accident or does it really mean what it says? Does this law / regulation only apply to restaurants / bars owned by farang expats?
If yes, the story would be a completely different one than the title suggests.
I believe, as TVF articles are directed to the ex-pats and English speaking farangs, you are both over reacting.
The ban is for all people in Thailand.
What I also believe is that this is an extreme case with the intention to warn all parties about the ban.

Laos and Cambodia, must be jealous of their neighbour Thailand.
Nearly a tenth of the deaths in those countries.
May all the dead RIP.

That's the way it works in Thailand.
You hurt them by banning their flights and they decide to move their asses and do something.
Mai Ben Rai is not a universal culture.....only applies to Thailand.

And the saga goes on and on.........
Nongkaikid, was right when he said that they should shut their mouths and only open them when they have some results.
At the moment they are releasing statements full of speculations and nothing robust.
We don't want to be reassured that you are trying to do your job, after all that's what you are paid for........just give us results.

Good, that will solve the problem for the rest of the rubber plantation farmers that have seen the price of rubber going down.
Good news are coming in everyday.
Why shouldn't I like this government?
Justice at last is upon Thailand.

If I was attacked by ladyboys, I would take my high heel shoe off and chase them.
But they would never do that to me........they know who loves them and who loves them not.

This is good news.
The knife is going deeper into the guts of the corrupt members of the Siwanatra clan.
I would have liked to hear the same happening to Chalerm, Surapong and many others.
But the day is still young.......It's coming to them.

This is a good article to read and understand politics in Thailand.
I never had a doubt that we will see the Siwanatras back in power and we will see the police again back to their old habits, and corruption thriving at all levels of society.
I consider this junta to be just a short breath space to the history of this country.
In a short time we will see again the same situation as before.
Till the next coup in some years to come.
Whoever believes that things can change in Thailand must be living in a dream world and not reality.

"The PM added that the government’s attempt to uphold Thailand’s image has attributed to an increase of more than 20% in tourist arrivals in the first quarter of this year."
Yes, PM, I'm sure the Chinese and some other tourists flooded Thailand knowing your efforts to solve the human trafficking problem......
Didn't I say to you to think before you speak?
Nobody seems to be listening to me.......

You are speaking about the Issan Thais, that lots of them haven't seen the sea in their lives.
Yes, it is the unknown to them and are afraid to go in that big pool of water thats called sea.
Most of them also don't know how to swim.
I do believe Thais that live in the islands or near the sea love going into it as much as I do.

OP, a very nice story to hear.
Consider yourself lucky to have such a nice family.
We hear all these stories on TVF, how farangs are mistreated by their wives and I believe it's about time to hear the other side of the story.
I consider also myself lucky for having such a nice wife and the only thing I regret is that I didn't meet her earlier in my life.
So do enjoy yourself with your family and be grateful........life is short, unfortunately.
I wish you a speedy recovery and all the Best in your and your family's life.

Life Insurance for foreigners in Thailand
in Insurance in Thailand
Posted
I've come to a certain age that I started thinking of what will happen to my wife when I die.
As all my assets and life insurance abroad will be going to my kids, I'm wondering how the wife will cope at the initial stages after my death.
So I'm thinking of taking a life insurance in Thailand, so she can have some money available to cope at the beginning.
I've looked through the internet and there are many companies offering life insurances, like AIA or ACE.
What I would like to ask the members is, if you have heard of any reliable insurances that will pay and the wife will not have much hassle getting the money.
Of course, you will not have a personal experience as you are still alive, but I'm asking if you have heard from other people or wives of foreigners that the husband has died and they got some money from an insurance, and the name of the insurance.
Many thanks.
