  1. The whole idea behind safety in the sandbox was that more then 70% of the residents on the island should be vaccinated.
    Excluding the non resident workers defeats the whole idea.
    These workers needs to be closer monitored and tested weekly until they are vaccinated and the borders have to be much tighter with PCR-testing

    Before the Sandbox started the governor said that if new casas hits 100 a week they will have to reconsider.

    Now we are at 200 a day!! So the governors promises is lame to say the least.

    Stopping the Sandbox now would mean a huge loss of face for the Phuket governor and the country so obviously they will let covid spread without closing down.

    It may have peaked. We cannot be sure, but we'll relax the rules anyway...

    Good idea - relax the rules and within a week u will be back on 20.000 ++ new infections.
    Now is the time too play it cool and keep up the restrictions for another few weeks - just to be safe.
    Whenever they relax the rules there will be a kick back - is it so hard to look at Europe and learn.

  3. Hmmm.

    Phangan 123% and Koh Tao 128% residence vaccinated !!
    Well without knowing how many of the total numbers of people living - both residents and temporally workers - those figurs mean nothing.
    We all know that most of the Thai people working in the tourist industry comes from other parts of the country.
    When Samui a few years ago applied for being a city they needed 40.000 registered / living on the island to considered a city.
    At that time there was another 250.000 workers on the island still registered in there home community.
    It's ridicules talking about 100%++++ without the proper total numbers.

    Somehow such reports give the impression that the Chinese are the first and only tourist that arrived so far in Thailand. But this is obviously not the case. Would be interesting to know how many arrived in total so far and from which countries and how many tested positive.

    There are tourists from many other countries who arrived in Thailand before the STV started.

    The last figure I saw 17 was found infected during quarantine.
    As for the number of Chinese tourist I can say that at my quarantine hotel during 12 -26'th October there was a few hundred Chinese tourists and there are another good 40 ASQ - hotels in Bangkok.

    The numbers from the government can't be correct.

  5. A week ago I got accepted for a repatriation flight from CPH to BKK this Sunday.
    I booked and payed for the hotel, the flight ticket (thai airways only and a peng peng one), health insurance and sent copies of everything to the RT Embassy.

    Yesterday (2days before lift off) I got a call from the embassy informing me that I hade to come to the embassy (meaning driving 240 kilometers) because my one year Non O visa extension (valid until late February) was not valid for this trip and I had to apply for another Non O - Visa 3 month singel entry.
    I asked if they would refund me for that one year visa extension with multiple entry as they obviously revoked it - the lady at the embassy looked at me as if i came from outer space and speaking a language she did not understand.

    TIT = this is Thailand.

  6.  Ensuring all tables are at least 2 metres apart or are partitioned;

     Ensuring seats are at least one metre apart;

    if the tables are 2 meter apart and each chair takes the space of 1 meter there will be no space left between the chairs 555
    - So placing tables 2 meter apart is just ludicrous - 3 - 4 meter would be more correct.

    Also:

    Patrons are not allowed to be loud or walk around the venue if not necessary;

    What the F has the guests loudness to do with anything related to spreading of the virus ???

  7. Is it difficult to follow those electric wires or water pipes to see who is using ??
    The main problem with side walks in Thailand is that people use them as parking space, second living room, unauthorized restaurangs, marketing and garbage dumps.

    There are a <deleted> load of policemen with nothing to do but hanging around all over Thailand - let them start cleaning up. If there is a will there is a way.

  8. Just came back from visiting Samui immigration.
    It took me 2 and a half hour just to make the queue and finally 3.59 pm get to give my passport and one year visa extension to the immigration officer.
    As always they found a reason to charge me a few hundred more then the regulated fee and i was informed that I could come and pick up my passport after 7 days.

    They r not the most effektiv crowed up there 555
    By the way everybody entering the immigration need to have a mask - maybe a bit late to get that info when u arrive and do not have a mask.

    Why not put up a stand outside and let somebody sell masks??

  9. So actually meaning that u have to keep 800.000 Thb in the bank for 5 month (to before and 3 after application) then u can only use 400.000 during the rest of the year - 7 month.  What's the point of these 400.000 in the bank that u can't use ??  Someone must have banged their head to come up with a regulation like that. With a proved income of 65.000 Thb a year - do u have to show the same kind of savings in the bank ??
