  1. Somebody knows a shop in BKK where I can find sliced( even prepacked would be OK) Dutch or Belgian Cheese. They have some in Tops, Carefour, Foodland and Villa market, but they only have a very limited choice and its only sold by blocks.

    Did you try The MALL?

(Bangkapi) they sell cheese from varies countries.

  2. Absolutely. If you dont trust them, then you are probably right not to. I'm no tech but for sure they can monitor your traffic if they want to, and the fact of it being unsecured probably gives them some "cover" if you were to directly blame them for anything untoward. It's certainly not unsecured for your benefit.

Don't do any banking on that net will you?!

and make sure your machine is clean!

But can they legally do such?

I understand that big ISP's do this, but I don't live with them thats a difference there,

big ISP's don't know the person using the connection but the condo owner sees you everyday.

I don't do any banking on this net.

And you understand the reason why I don't do that.

My machine is clean and using firewall/anti virus.

  3. HI everyone,

I wonder is it possible to let someone do your visarun for you?

    At Poipet or MaeSai?

I mean to pay someone some money and they can take care of that?

So I don't have to stand in a line myself, but just pay someone to do this.

I have been at Poipet before and those touts ask me if they can do it for me!?

    Anyone experience with this?

If so, which border would you recommend?

    I need a new 30day on arrival.

    Thanks for any help! :o

I think you are talking about giving your passport and money to somebody in no mans land between Thai immigration and the Cambodia side to do the visa and passport stamps. It is up to you if you trust somebody with your passport and money.

If you talking about getting somebody to do the entire border run then the answer is no.

If you want to eliminate some of the hastle and time at the border you can get your Visa for Cambodia online.

    Link to e-visa website: http://evisa.mfaic.gov.kh/e-visa/vsindex.aspx

    Thanks for your info+the link!

It always amazes me that the Cambodians are once again ahead of Thailand with this "e-visa"!

As also the Cambodians were the first ones using a webcam to take a picture!

But the most hassle is mostly on the Thai side coming back into Thailand.

But ok, yes if I trust someone to give my money and passport thats another thing yes..

But IT is possible? I mean They can do that for me and I could just "drink a beer/cup of coffee at the Thai side" without even crossing the border myself? Would not be the lagal way, but it seems to be possible?

    Thanks again:)

  4. Key management(for WEP and WPA) is usually the issue.

For a little peace of mind, if you are visting a secure site (https), then although you are on an unsecured wifi connection, the layer 6 data packets being transmitted are still encrypted.

Likewise if you are Remote Desktop'ing (RDP) or on a VPN, as I often am, then the packets are encrypted.

Good to know this. At least my business stuff is private!

(reminds me of the old Irish joke.

Q: What's the best way to get to x?

A: Well if i was you, I wouldnt start from here!)

    It's the way I tell em! :o

OP. I wouldnt worry to much about the law. You pay your money and take your choice/chances.

More likely your downloads are being restricted further up the chain than the Lan admin. They are probably not paying ISP for a package that allows unrestricted international streaming, despite any advertising to the contrary.

Everybody is being forced to upgrade these days.

    Thanks for your replies guys.

However I'm not Remote Desktop'ing (RDP)..

And I don't have any problem to get to x :D

What I mean is PRIVACY: no one at this building has to know what sites I visit, either the page or url.

Some time ago the condo owner here had a comment(coincidentally?) and that had to do with a webpage that I visited that day... So how could he know?

do you have a option to plug into the physical LAN ? I always do this rather than WIFI where possible.

    Unfortunately not..

So I feel like being "stalked" somehow:(

Thanks Kiakaha, yes I know WEP / WPA should be used, and I wonder why they don't use it?

There are 4 AP's in this building(there are more, but not belong to the local network).

I do know that with visiting secure sites the data is encrypted, but many sites are not using SSL.

How about condo owners that provide internet connection but caching the pages, are there any rules/laws for this concerning privacy?

  7. Hi everybody,

I have wifi access at my condo, thats all nice but:

It is an unsecure wifi network, they only use MAC address filtering.

MAC address cloning seems to be so easy these days.

All wifi equipment supports some form of protection to create a secure network.

So I wonder why they don't secure the wifi network?....

I like to listen music streams on the internet now and then but somehow it seems someone tries to intercept/stop my stream, the internet connection is fast enough to run multiple streams at one time, so thats not the problem.

It seems more like someone(local network admin?) in the building tries to "prevent" me listening from my streams, don't get me wrong, I'm an experienced internet user, and this is not normal.

And does anyone know something about the Thai LAW, internet and PRIVACY.

About the condo owners/wifi internetproviders that cache the data/webpages you visit?

Thanks in advance for any comment/help/suggestions.
