my friends who teach at chula describe it as "a pretty yellow place". So i can see the Red's displeasure at their now presenting themselves as "pink," as if they are neutral in this debate.

thanks for the tip. I fly EVA, and have about 20K miles, so I'll give them another call to find out.

thanks for the replies.
From your advice, and others, I will just take what I can in luggage allowance (150lbs) and 2 extra bags (100 lbs).

I've just taken a job at Chulalongkorn University to start Feb 1. They are providing me an apartment on campus (I pay rent, but cheap for that area).
I want to bring stuff in excess of what I can cram into my luggage, more clothes, texts books, and small stuff for my apt that i've collected over the years.
I'd like some advice on how to best move this stuff, in terms of least expensive-while still in a timely fashion, and also on what to do to minimize possible customs issues/charges. If I address it to one of my Thai colleagues, would that make any difference?
thanks

in the US, DUI is definitely criminal, so I thought it be also in Thailand and would be a problem to the Thai Gov when applying for the WP

sorry, I should have said it was in the US.
I am currently in the US and am being recruited for a job at Chulalongkorn University.

Hi everyone, longtime reader first time poster.
what impact would having a DUI (driving under the influence) on record have on getting a work permit?

i'm working in bkk for a year or two. I have housing with the company near MBK. I want to get sofa/couch and floor lamp etc.. to upgrade my place. Where can I get something that's ok quality, but not too expensive as I wont be keeping it (i may end up here longer, but who knows).
the mattress, if you can call it that, is not too comfortable, so I'm also looking for a place to get some kind of padding to make it a bit more sleepable.
finally, where is there a decent, ie not expensive dry cleaner in Siam Square area (or other places, as a BTS trip would be worth a good per piece price).
thanks for any suggestions.....
