Thanks,I will try Agoda,
I will be arriving in Nakon Phanom in the evening and I
will get a Song Teao or Taxi into which ever hotel I choose.
I would love to know the price of the cheapest way into the town center.
There will be lots of guys at the door of the airport hassling me and
I will get ripped off if I don't know the score.
Does anybody know how to get into NP from the airport.
Are there Song Taeo's,tuk-tuk's or metered taxi's and what's the price.
-
Nakon Phanom is slightly cheaper to fly to than Khon Kaen.I think it's slightly closer to Muktahan as well.I think......
That's with Nok Air,I must check Air Asia for prices.
-
I have to go to Savanakhet again for a visa run.
I have been there before but still need some advice.
This time I'm going to fly to Nakhon Phanom and stay the night.
I will arrive at the airport at about 8pm and will want to go to to
Muktahan or the Friendship bridge the next morning on my way to Savanakhet
So I will need a taxi to a cheap hotel and presumably a taxi to the bus station
in the morning.
If any one could recommend a cheap hotel, near or on the way to the bus station
and how much a taxi or tuk-tuk will cost to get there.
Then what is the best way to go to Laos in the morning.
Also does anybody know what is needed for the One year, multiple entry visa
on the grounds of marriage in Savanakhet.

I would like to buy some stuff off of Amazon but none of the products
I want ship to Thailand.
I have seen some companies on YouTube saying that they ship to Thailand
for you if you buy in America. They don't give their prices though.
So before I go searching through their websites trying to find their prices I
thought I'd ask here.
I'm just talking about small things, mainly clothes.
What are they like when you just want a pair of jeans sent over or
just the odd little thing that you can't get on eBay.
Maybe you know a better way than these companies........

The last thing I do before going is to go on the Thai consulate website and get a list of the latest requirements for the marriage visa are and which ones have to be singed by my wife before I leave.
I also got caught out one time by arriving on a Laos holiday and had to wait for 3 days for the consulate to open.So now I check for Laoation holidays because they are not all the same as Thai.
But their website is down.Does anyone have a list of the latest requirements and know what days they are open next week.

If you mean getting a non o based on marriage showing no funds Savanakhet is closest
Is there another consulate that you can get it without showing funds even if it's farther than Savanakhet.
Hotel Hua Nam is the cheap hotel in Mukdahan that I stayed in last time.
But yes,I guite like my trips to Savanakhet. It's so relaxed there
I fly in with Nok Air and do my usual routine, hire a bicycle and have an apsolutley stress free time.
I've never got a marriage visa any where else but meet people totally stressed out from reporting
at immigration.
Krobert6-- I fly Chiang Rai/Bankok-Mukdahan with Nok Air in one day for about 2500bht one way.The last step of the journey is by Nok Air mini bus.
Mukdahan is on the Thai side, you can still get to Savanakhet the same day or sleep in Mukdahan.
I then go to Mae Saai every 3 months and walk in and out of Burma and get another 3 months.
As said if you work your dates right you will get 15 months free with the option to extend for another
2 months in immigration.
My question now is is Savanakhet the only place in the world where you don't have to show funds for a marriage visa or is it just the nearest.

Great,thanks...
One last thing..
What is the best budget hotel to stay in in Mukdahan. The last time I stayed down by the river
in a cheap and cheerful hotel but I can't remember it's name. There were twocheap hotels near each other.
I also heard that there is one by the bus station, how is that one. Is that the same bus station I
need to get the bus to Savanakhet.
-
I have been going to Savanakhet now every 15 months for about 6 years.
I go there because I can get a one year Multi entry visa on the grounds of marriage
without having to show any money in a Thai bank.
It's now time to go again.I need to leave Thailand on Sunday.I am planning to walk out
at Mukdahan.
I allways check in this forum before leaving just incase anything has changed.
So can I still get the one year multi entry visa on the grounds of marriage without showing
any cash in a Thai bank.
Is it still 5 thousand baht for the visa fee
Do you still have to produce the same documents when applying.
And mostly is this still the best option for somebody who is married to a Thai
and doesn't have any money in a Thai Bank.

O.k,...UbonJoe.......your right.I was reading the site wrong.
It's only every second flight is sold out.
O.k....that's great...sorry about that................

I'm on a visa run to Savanakhet.I flew from Bangkok to Mukdahan vai Ubon Ratchasima with Nok Air but now I see that the flights back are booked out.
I am trying to find out the best way to fly back to Bangkok.
As far as I can see the cheapest way is to bus to Nakon Phanom and fly Air Asia from there.
Is that right or does anybody know a better way.
If so my next question is can any body recomend a cheap hotel near Nakon Phanom airport in case I have to stay there overnight.
-
No but I see Leena Hotel on Agoda.com ,could that be it
-
I don't think so.
It was a small two story place with a pavilion restaurant in the yard.
Not far from the old Thai embassy.
-
I'm off to Savanakhet on Friday and I can't remember the name of the Hotel I stayed in last time.
It was just off the main street and was run by a Laoation family and generally regarded as the
cheapest and best of the budget hotels.
Can anyone remember the name because I need to know it when the tuk tuk drivers surround me when the bus pulls into Savanakhet bus station.
-
Yes,
I just got some one at the Or-ba-tor (sub district office)to do it.
They phoned the embassy and the embassy explained what to do.
What a drama.I would never do it again.
Next time I will go to Bangkok myself.
-
The reason I need some one to witness that I am the guy on the photo is because I am not going to the embassy in person.
I am applying through the post.
Next time I will make the trip to Bangkok in person.

Irish replacement passport application sent back last week.
Just went to the police station and they said(lied)that they didn't have a stamp.
Went to immigration and they said they wouldn't do it.
At this rate I will have to go to Bangkok myself.Nobody has heard of this issue before and the form is in English only.

Irish Consulate in Bangkok sent my application back because It only had a signature of the witness.
They need 2 photos signed and stamped and the form singed and stamped by a witness,
for a replacement passport.
-
yes,it's the witness for the photos.just to say that it's the same face on the photos as on the old passport.
He/she doesn't have to give you a character reference but has to have a stamp.
Last time I put Poo Yai Bahn as Politician.
The Missus and the neighbors said not to ask the police for favors as they may ask me for favors later, lend money e.c.t.....country cops...
-
Is there no where in North Thailand to get into Burma by land..
What about flying from chiang mai
-
I'm applying for a new passport and I need some one to witness it.
This is the second time I've done it.The first time my wife brought it round to the local Poo Yai Bahn or whatever and he signed the form but didn't have a stamp.
I wrote to my embassy and they said the stamp wasn't necessary
So this time I did the same thing but the embassy said that the stamp was necessary and sent back my application..
I was going to go to my local cop station but my missus said to stay away from them if I can.
Now I am in Mae Sai and will go to the immigration office in the morning but it's
a long trip from where I live.
I was just wondering what you do....espechialy if you live in the countryside.
-
"you can do it at the Mukdahan crossing"
That's what I need to know.
In the off chance that my new passport doesn't come on time,
what are my options.
!- I could go to Chiang Khong/Huai Sai but that would take 1 and a half pages....right?....which I don't have.
2-I could go and try for a 1 week extension at immigration. Can I do this on one page and how much does it cost.
3--Any other options besides paying an overstay and would there be any problems with that, these days
-
"Some offices won't do it"
So I suppose what I need to know is if Mae Sai (my local office)or Muktahan
do it or not.
Savanakhet----Non O for Marriage.
in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits

Yes I stayed in Mukdahan the last time I went.
This time I'm arriving a little late and would like to see Nakhon Phanom.
Those VIP mini buses are comfortable but cost about 400bht.
I think the ordinary mini buses cost about 100bht.
It's 5 kilometers into town from the airport so I can't get ripped off too much.
Any one know a farang bar in NP.
