Hi everybody,
I will have to renew my non-O married visa end of this month.
I don't have the 400k baht on my bank account. My plan was to go to Savannakhet but a post on this topic worries me. Is it still possible?
Other question: what about Lao immigration to get there?
Cheers

You do need passport valid for the length of your stay which is 90 days if you have a multiple entry visa.
If you are going to your home country why don't you get a new passport while you are there.
A new passport would have been the alternate solution, but I would have to transfer the visa in a Thai consulate, and there isn't one near the place I'm going to.

Good news, your list of documents does not include the bankbook. I don't have the 400,000 thb

I have a multi-entry visa and have no problems with the country I'm going to as I'm one of their citizens.
Thanks for answer

Hi everybody,
I have to leave Thailand for emergency reasons on the 11th. I'll be back on April 2nd. My passport expires July 13th and my O visa in may. On April 2nd, my passport will not be valid for 6 month, nor 4 month when I will arrive in Suwarnabumi. Will I have problems?
Thanks for information. Somebody must have been in the same situation.

Of course if the mother never went through an official (amphoe) wedding registration with the father, she probably has sole custody already.
Important point for me. We could get married because my wife and her ex-huband never register their wedding, but he signed the birth certificate and the child have his family name. We will check this from amphoe shortly.

Living in Thailand for more than two and a half year and beeing married for one and a half year, My Thai wife's daughter (12) is living with us for 2 years and I take care of all the expenses (School, Insurance, dentist, glasses, etc.). The father of the child disapeared 6 years ago. I wonder if it's a good idea to adopt her (she call me Daddy) and what will be the procedure?
Sure, why not? One benny could be that she'd be included on your medical insurance family plan.
We did this with my wife's nephew some years back. Down to the provincial social welfare office and make the application. That's "pha sa son kho."
Seems like there's a provincial adoption committee that meets 2-3 times a year, they make the decision.
It may/will be complicated by the absence of the father so you might have to get a court order granting your wife sole custody of the child.
Mac
"your wife sole custody of the child", this look like a first step. We probably have to check in district or province administration

I'm Swiss, so I did chek a bit further and as I couldn't find any official lao web site, I got this:
Visas for Laos are needed for
all passports except
Japan, Republic of
Korea, Russia,
Luxembourg and Switzerland. According to agreements made since 2005,
ASEAN country citizens should be given free entry for 15 days. However,
visitors from
Indonesia and other ASEAN countries are being charged for entry into Laos.
This may also apply at other ASEAN country border control where the free
entry agreement has not been implemented or is being ignored.
