1. @Bangmai

"You also need to pay for it, as normal, but then it will count towards resumption of service."

You got me confused here... the idea is not to pay for the period we're away. Also, do we need to provide air tickets as proof and can we do 6 months suspension with 3BB?

  2. Any feedback on Bokk Maow pet hotel in Saraphi? The rooms are certainly big enough for my cat, and I like the 24hr CCTV livefeed. Just curious about the standard of care etc. PM me if not convenient to post here.

  3. Where does all that foul air go when we switch them on? Is there a dedicated outlet duct for such purposes that discharges the foul air outside the building. Reason I ask is that there's a funny smell where I stay, not quite sewage stench. I wonder whether it's coming via the air ventilator from my neighbors.

  4. I always get a multiple re-entry permit when I extend my visa. That effort eliminates these kinds of problems.

Well, a multiple re-entry permit is worth it only if you plan to travel 4 or more times within your visa period.

  5.

I'm planning to make 2 separate trips out of the country later this year.

Is it possible to apply for 2 "Single" entry permits at the same time? Or can I only apply for the 2nd permit after my first trip?

    Thanks

Interesting question. I can see no reason you cannot apply for 2 single re-entry permits. 1,000 baht each = 2,000 baht.

One reason I can think of is.... TIT :)

Wonder if anyone tried doing this before? Will save me an additional trip to the immigration office.

  7.
Drove from Kanchanaburi to BKK to Saraburi and back yesterday. Major traffic jam at Future Mall Rangsit. Went to Thanyaburi and then via Amphur Ban Na in Nakon Nayok to Saraburi. Return journey my wife called the flood helpline and was told we'd have to follow the same route back. At the turnoff to Nakon Nayok the police had set up barriers and signs on Highway 1 sending us the way we'd came too to get to Bangkok. Going the usual way ( now flooded ) takes about 2 and a half hours. Yesterday Kan to Saraburi 7 hours.
I'm driving to Pattaya from the north, and will be passing through Saraburi-Nakhon Nayok, using HW1 out of Saraburi and HW33 to Nakhon Nayok. Are there bad traffic jams along Saraburi-Nakhon Nayok stretch? Note that I'm not going through BKK but detour via Prachin Buri on HW319.

  8. Keep posting updates guys. I'm travelling Si Saket to Jomtien tomorrow, so interested in the route Highway 24, 304 over the top to Prachinburi and Chonburi province generally

Today I see there are floods in Prachinburi area around HW 319 which wasn't there when I checked the Highway Map yesterday. May have to use HW 304 further east to get to Pattaya. Any updates on HW 304 to Pattaya?

Also, I'm coming from the north using HW21 through Saraburi and then onto HW33. Anyone with info on road closures along this stretch?

  9. Just before you reach Makro on the Superhighway is a shop that sells plastic containers and plastic boats. Surprisingly they also sell life jackets, I bought 4 there adults and kids. Sorry I can't be more specific

Thanks. I found the shop. But the lady there said all jackets already sent to BKK :o:ermm:

If anybody has no use for life jackets, please consider selling it to me. :D

  10. Saw some life jackets (water) for kids being sold in Kad Suan Kaew, but not for adults. Where can I buy one?

Do you have knowledge of some impending disaster that you`re not telling us?

Driving down south soon, and the life jacket may be handy at some point

  11. Houses beyond this point have 1.5 to 2 meters of water in them, people living on the roadway. Police station has .75 meters of water in the parking lot.

Oh dear! Any idea whether Saraburi is in a better position vis-a-vis floods? Perhaps I should layover there instead, or somewhere else...

  12. Believe he said no access to Lopburi and had to backtrack to highway 21 to continue North (which is the large fork to the right a bit North of Saraburi on Highway 1).

Guess have to wait for him to clarify why he back-tracked. But 10hrs from LopBuri to CM seems quite long.... from the map it seems doable in 7-8 hrs!?

  13. We departed Pattaya Tuesday morning - 7 to 9 to 1 destination Lop Buri

Back tracked to pick up 21 then as per my previous post. 10 hours total Lop Buri - CNX in a Toyota Vigo 4-door with my Harley in the back.

Traffic slow once you exit the 9 Ring Road and turn onto 1 heading to Saraburi, but cleared out in a few Km's

Can not see any problems for a car via this route, but things may have changed since my trip.

Can not give you any idea re: your planned route, as I tried to stay on main roads - more due to hoping for good road conditions, minimal potholes etc. I got my wish.

Hi, how long was the drive from Pattaya to Lop Buri? Also, what's the flood situation in LB.... have they seen the worst?

Am planning to stopover in Lop Buri Inn Resort for 1 night and head on to Pattaya the next morning.

  14. Hi,

Good to know that's a good alternative route open. What's the total KM & driving hours? Was there any bad jams along any part of the route?

I was thinking of taking HW 225 (instead of HW12) to cross between HW 11 and HW21, as it seems shorter on the map. Any info on viability of this route?

For my case, I"m going from CNX to Pattaya, and planning to head east after Saraburi (bypassing BKK) using HW 33-HW319-HW304-HW314 to get on HW7 to Pattaya. But no idea how long it will take though.

    Any info appreciated!

    p/s: I'm using a small passenger car.

  15. Anyone with a good guesstimate of when the Asian Highway will be passeable to all vehicles again?

Are we talking days :) ... or weeks? :(

I drove Lampang-Bangkok on Tuesday - 6-1/2 hours. Returned yesterday, 10 hours. The return was using the Suphanburi-Angthong bypass and the Asia Highway the rest of the way. Serious holdups getting on the 340 in Bangkok and again at some flooding in Nakhon Sawan but passable to all vehicles.

Hi, can you kindly give the HW numbers for the bypass, as I don't want to go the wrong way and literally end up in deep waters? Minus the holdups, how long do you think the journey BKK-Lampang would have been instead?

  16. I was planning on driving down to Phuket on Saturday, Have to be in Phuket on the 12th. My route is Prea to Phitsanoluk, Nakhon Sawan, Chainat, SuphanBuri Then onto the A2 south. Having read the above about Nakhon Sawan. Just wondered if anyone had info about bypassing there, and updates along my route. Or any suggestions about getting through. I can't fly as I have a dog which cannot stay home alone.

Any help appreciated. I have been to the flood alert link as well.

    Thanks

As of yesterday, the Nakhon Sawan bypass road (HW 122) is still closed.

Would suggest you postpone long-distarnce driving through the central plains if possible, as highway police may give you the all-clear signal in the morning, but its flooded in the afternoon just as you are driving through etc.

Just look at the BKK Post pic today of cars stranded on HW1 at Ayuthaya!

  17. Hi,

Am planning to drive down to BKK tomorrow using HW 11 to Lampang, then HW 1 thru Thoen, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Nakhon Sawan to BKK.

Called Highway Police (at 1193) today and they advised (in Thai) that the route is not passable today due to floods at Thoen. My Thai is limited and if I understood him correctly, he said its passable only to large vehicles. I'm going there by passenger car.

Does anyone know what's the flood situation on this route and/or can provide more info?

  18. I called Highway Police today and they told me that Highway 1 at Thoen is not passable due to floods (except for large vehicles "rot yon yai"). At least that's what I understand from my limited Thai ability. That means I can't drive through with my passenger car.

Anyone can independently confirm this and/or provide more info?
