    Muted response to Suthep's calls for 'civil disobedience'

    I like Suthep's style and integrity but I think he is getting a little over excited by his rally's success. Calling national strikes causes more harm to the business sector than it does the government. Remembering that the business sector are his supporter, it isn't a good idea to inconvenience them.

    I think he needs to wind his neck in a bit and refrain from getting carried away. There is more than one way to skin a cat. Civil disobedience is not the best by a large margin.

    "Suthep's style and integrity" looks of words spring to mind when Suthep's name comes up but integrity isn't one of them!

    Bottom line, if an armed mob are holding your capital city centre hostage, making unreasonable demands (in no democracy in the world is it appropriate to demand an elected leader step down instantly, and under the circumstances of Ratchaprasong), you have little choice but to send in the army. A state of Emergency was declared, this gave the protesters and those in the area several days to disperse, knowing full well that their lives were at risk. Let Abhisit have his day in court and let the court subpeona Thaksin et al to explain their motives. If found guilty that's fine but think about how easily the PAD will employ a similar tactic on Yingluck. Simple as that. A new easy way to force a govt to quit.

    Not sure it is fair to charactise Ahbisit as the democratically elected leader at that time. He was the leader of the democratics which lost the Dec 2007 election. Samak was installed by parliament as the prime minister. He was then removed for taking a payment to appear on a cooking show. After that Somchai was prime minister. It was democratic party members who setup the PAD movement and started the protests. Abhisit came to power through the support of Newin's party after the coup government exited the scene. Abhisit never won an election!

    So can anyone confirm or deny the road from BKK to Hua Hin the no.35 is now impassable? or is this just a stock photo? Although I do see it is saying North of Rama 2 at the moment

    I have, in the last hour, driven from Sathorn to Samut Sakhon using the Chaloem Maha Nakhon Tollway / bridge and them on Rama 2 (35) with no signs of any flooding. Traffic was light compared to normal.

    Flooding now at Bang Bon behind Central Rama II.

    How far Behind Central Rama II?

    100 meter? 1 km? 5km?

    Can anyone confirm? Because Rama II is the last link between BKK & the entire South.

    Should have taken Thaksin advise and built the over-the-sea elevated road from BKK all the way to Phetburi (BangKhunTian to ChaAm if I remember correctly). We don't have to worry now.

    It is still about 2 km from Central Rama 2. It hasn't crossed Ekachai yet, from what I can see, although it has crossed Kallaprapruek.

    Bonobo - where has it crossed Kallaprapruek? Is Kallaprapruek now completely blocked to traffic?

    Thai Platinum - has anyone noticed the new top tier Platinum card introduced by Thai? Invitation only so nobody knows what sort of mileage they need to do the reach this status. Probably another perk for the execs and their friends. I fly 15 business class international long haul trips with Thai every year and still didn't qualify. Transparency would go a long way to answering my questions!!!

    We are seeking a Management Accountant, based in Samut Sakorn some 30 kms from central Bangkok, for a company that is export orientated and that employes some 175 people and manufactures flexible plastic packaging. The role will entail:

    · Manage and be responsible for the financial systems and reporting of the company

    · Present accurate monthly Financial Statement to the Board of Directors as well as daily cash flows positions.

    · Report to the Board of Directors on the production results and with the Production Manager implement a product costing system.

    · Implement and execute company strategies as directed by the Board.

    · Liaise with financial institutions and Government departments as required.

    The following attributes are essential:

    · Strong cost accounting and production management skills

    · Have excellent Thai and English language skills

    · Excellent computer skills across the range of MS programs and also experience working on a dedicated cost accounting / production software platform

    · Ability to be able to manage a range of people from different cultural backgrounds.

    · Experience in a manufacturing environment.
