Imagine that you live in a third world country where everything could be sorted out with a brown envelope, and where foreigners often commit suicide with their hands tied behind the back.

good grief,,,,, seriously FDSA??   without a doubt it's time to leave this forum ,, good luck everybody, been fun, this is now off the rails

    Your actions?

    FDSA

A- with a sum of BTC being 7 digits It would not be on an exchange vulnerable to an attack, many of the yield providers now allow the crypto to be held on a hard wallet separate from the provider and large sums like that  obviously are handled differently,

B-Even so as far as the breach gaining my personal information ,, That is already happening with mainstream  banking and trading firms Nov 2021 Robinhood trading lost millions of customer names, emails and info,,,,July 2021 Morgan Stanley lost it's corporate client personal information.

C- although I wouldn't want my personal info on Facebook,,, at the end of the day  some exchanges offer a multi step process to withdraw funds, you can make it as difficult as you like with various phone connections, approved withdrawal whitelists etc. I am not on Facebook so I'm not sure what it takes to have that information removed and I would strengthen or change the details of how my accounts are  accessed

Once again all this info is available for those who wish to learn via a simple google search,,

Correct me if I'm wrong FDSA who posted this but I'm guessing you don't  own any crypto and have had nothing to do with the steps involved holding, transferring, logging into an exchange or any part whatsoever of the process?

Over the past year I continue to see the same old worn out questions asked in this  Forum. This topic is a good example , of around 24 replies to this,,17  of them have no value to the topic at all, but it would take a few hours of watching decent content in regard to exchanges and KYC and few people want to make the effort,,,  easier to bash crypto,, unfortunately this  just takes away time that people could have spent actually learning something,,,, but that is what forums and social media are best at,,, eating up time,

Good Luck to all,, and FSDA, respectfully ,, you are obviously are not comfortable with KYC,,, simply don't get involved with it then, there is a multitude of articles available how you can do that,,, but you need to do the math.

  3. everything we do today is "hackable"

If you're happy keeping your head down and maybe making a couple percent interest in the coming years, that;s great. I'll take the upside of High yield ,Staking profits and volatility everyday being in a quality exchange like Kucoin (BTW they have been hacked last year for a few million$ but no investor was on the hook for it)

For every $1000 in mainstream investments I i only have to use $100-200 in crypto assets to get the same action/returns (I think the stock market may or may not make 10% in the next 12 months whereas I believe more strongly BTC will double,, 100%  in the next 12 months), the other $900 I can stake for 10-20% annual interest( or use all that money to guard myself with triple firewalls, 25 character passwords,, 3 layer VPN'S,,and fake I'D's so the KYC boogeyman takes longer to get into my accounts I suppose.). If you are afraid of cryptos and the associated actions , I would recommend anyone  take an online course for at least 100 hrs of instruction. When you are done you wouldn't be asking these questions and wonder what took you so long to get involved in digital assets in the first place. It's like guys still wandering around saying you can't buy a coffee with bitcoin. That's not the point

  4. Thailand had/has the opportunity to approach this from an entirely different angle much like El Salvador. Taxing profits on the sale of an investors crypto will simply

A-drive that investor to trade offshore(easily done) and then just transfer the final asset into their local bank account via  their Thai exchange(easily done),,, or just use it to pay for travel, rooms etc thru sites like Travala.com , lightning etc

B- Thai exchanges are about to loose large transaction fees (I am one of them) because anybody with moderate crypto abilities will know to go around trading the Thai Exchanges, the options are becoming infinite

You can argue all you want about how it's proper to report earnings on assets, cap gains etc, but facts on the ground will dictate people will move out of trading in Thailand,,, period ,,,,to the detriment of the Thai population

However if they would approach this with BTC and crypto  being more as a legal tender currency , method of payment  to pay for services etc, capital gains are not required.

one BTC is one BTC,, stop comparing  it to a currency all the time,,,This would make Thailand a crypto friendly jurisdiction and drive business towards the kingdom rather than pushing it elsewhere,,,, the answer is hardly debatable and as obvious as the sun rising,, but  the choice is Thailand's to make,,, you name it BTC Cafe, ETH enviro tours, Crypto delivery,,, Thailand can be a Tourism leader in the BTC marketplace  with the proper choice made right now. If they are going to start taxing they might just as well tear out the BTC Atm's while they're at it.

The tax on any crypto gains/losses  based in Baht  should be Zero percent, Crypto free trade zone. Money will flow into Thailand like water. All local businesses will benefit... think outside the box Thailand

Yes that is what puts me off about all cryptos. You can't just exchange them like you can a currency. There are no central pools where you can do your exchange. As a buyer you have to find a seller and visa versa.

I think you're wrong there Jobsworth,, as long as you have an account at one of the larger exchanges like Kucoin, Binance, FTX etc you can swap these just as easy. plus you have to remember that you have 24/7 access to crypto,,, not so with common world currencies. and it's easy for most people to open an account with these,, Americans have to jump through a few more hoops but otherwise you're up and running within 48 hours. Kucoin is really easy and you can also get 5-7 % interest on USDT with them just holding it,,, not possible with foreign currencies,,, the world isn't changing ,, it has changed already,,, spend a couple days looking through an exchange like Kucoin and I think you'll be impressed,, cheers

  6. For Satang and Bitazza no witholding taxes or anything on capital gains?

I've never paid anything or been asked to in the 14 months I've used them and I regularly channel money through them via my Kucoin, maybe the easiest thing Thing I've been involved in financially, wish all things worked that easy.

As far as SCB and Bitkub,,, it's likely a good thing they have bonded and then maybe,, just maybe Bitkub will get it's act together and stop all the outages and unrealistic verification processes, I have a dozen various accounts and forks and Bitkub is a 3 ring circus comparitively ,,,for as easy as Bitazza is,,, Bitkub is equally as dysfunctional,,IMO ,,, but Bitkub does have a better variety and tighter spreads with a larger liquidity pool,, no question,,, if you can get verified LOL, good luck everybody

  7. XRP is much like all the others it has price pumps and dumps, regardless of news and hype XRP will have a big pump again the coming weeks, I'd disregard all the media hype and can easily move 30% /day ,,,,BTC  does well, then a rotation to Eth and layer one protocols and then the smaller ones. Best to have a well rounded bag (including XRP if you like) of a half dozen (SOL,LUNA,MATIC, AVAX for examples) and one of them has a good pump sell some of those profits and put it into BTC ,,, rinse and repeat,,and ETH.

As long as you have the time and willing to follow along for a few months you'll do better than just owning BTC. If you don't want the headache just buy 60/40,, BTC/ETH and forget about it till Feb.. IMHO,, buying SHIB here is likely going to be painful later,,, or not,, complete crapshoot

    Good Luck!

  8. I have Satang pro and Bitazza,, both were verified easily in a few hours last year, Bitkub was a month long headache so I gave up on them.

But I do all my trading on Kucoin, easy sign up and many options for trading, Thai exchanges are good for moving money to your bank accounts but if you day trade the spreads are too wide, that's why you use something like Kucoin or Binance, then when you need money slip it back to Satpro or Bitazza and access your thai bank, pretty effortless all around really

    good luck!

  9. Just open an account with Bitazza Thailand , they'll approve you in 48 hours, it's easy and they have decent liquidity pools so the spread on buy/sell is okay. good website/app , easy to use. then just connect your Kbank to them,, you'll need to download the Kplus app on your phone if you don't already have it and have your Kasikorn activate it. you can do same with Satangpro but as mentioned by another post spreads are too wide and no liquidity. Both have decent selection of tokens and have Eth for you. There is no liquidity with Upbit(I closed my account) and Bitkub is an absolute horror show to get approved (much like the current vaccination program) with numerous outages. They all have competitive transaction fees and nothing to concern yourself with for a couple transactions, but be aware you pay more for Eth transactions than many of the others but sounds like you just need to get your NFT thing up and running,,,so all good,, cheers

  10. I wouldn't bother with Bitkub, they're still having outage problems and I applied 5-6 weeks ago and haven't even gotten a reply yet. I have accounts with Satangpro and Bittaza  for 6 months now and happy,. The spreads on Satang are usually pretty wide though and not good for day trading, Bitazza seems to draw from a larger liquidity pool and spreads are better (and an overall better trading site). BTZ will give you an approval(if your not Amercian) pretty quick  like 24-48 hours, but once you have that ,,open a Kucoin account and just use the BTZ account to transfer in money from your Thai bank, buy and sell a little there, but use the Kucoin acct for trading, staking, and growing interest (if desired thru liquidity), when you want to move coins back into Thailand just send them back to BTZ and money if wanted to your Thai bank account , both accounts will likely be setup for you in 2-3 days and you can trade in Kucoin without , name, KYC or anything if your only 2-3000$, Forget Upbit, they are too wide on spreads and no liquidity.

but honestly once your in Kucoin you will do little via Thai exchanges accept being a rail back into your Thai bank, Good Luck!

  11. I was doing a phone number change on my K cyber account for transfers and had to go into my Kasik branch just north of soi 6 on the Canal to make the change. I've been there for 15 years and have had a few glitches with wire transfers etc and just lived with it. So I went in  1 week ago Monday, filled out the paperwork and the lady said it would be 3 days for the phone number changes to apply. By Thursday nothing had happened, so I emailed their trouble center, and no reply from them,Now Today I called the helpline which I believe is in Bangkok and the lady found that the paperwork that the CM branch submitted was wrong and I'd have to go back to the branch. We live 1 1/2 hours outside Near Samoeng so just going back to the branch is a pain and I told her I needed to get the phone number fixed todaY and their paperwork screw up shouldn't be my problem,,without having to drive all the way in again, but no ,,,can't be done on the phone,,so 8 days later and still have no transfer ability,, all this for a simple number change. I'll likely just say enough is enough and transfer to Bangkok Bank here in Samoeng and then be local although I do everything online so the branch is not important, just  hate changing everything over. Does anybody have any   recommendations on a"troublefree" bank or has this become the new normal in CM , grin and bear it?

  12. the immigration site says it will also be automatically updating 90 day renewals, so there should be no need to apply now,,,, and no  "backlog" after July 31 anyway, you'll just have an auto updated anniversary date ,,,,if and when things are normal after July 31,,

  13. sir Swag

we got ours done 4 years ago at an LPG service center place across the super highway from Macro, San Kampaeng, going north from the traffic light (just south of  Macro) on the super highway its maybe, a couple hundred meters, beside an lpg filling station . ours is due again next year, I think it was 500 bt, guy stands beside the car they take a pic, done he, never even looked at anything, but at that time he was only there early afternoons, 2 different inspection stations told us to go there so it must be well known.

  14. If you mail in your 90 day I'd recommend making a copy or at least a phone pic of your previous 90 day receipt before you mail everything in. I mailed mine a couple days ago the same as I've been doing for 3 years now and got a call today that my 90 day was previously expired 90 days ago and i had to pay 2000 baht late fee. So I drove in from Samoeng this morning and paid the fee and wondered what the problem was because I wasn't due until April 21. They said I have been without a 90 day since my last report(which I mailed in) back in end of jan,.. looking at the paperwork I sent 2 days ago,( which they had) there was no receipt of the last 90 day expiring on April 21 which I' was sure I had sent together with the other usual copies. So I paid the 2000baht and got back on track with the 90 day, After I got home I looked thru everything around my desk and turned the room upside down in case I didn't mail it together and wasn't able to find the April 21 90 day receipt and I'm 99% sure it went in the envelope with the  other stuff anyway. Admittedly I have less interest in sending these now than I did a few years ago but the receipt has been sitting on my desk for 2 weeks with a computer notification  waiting for me to send it so I don't pay any penalties and find it hard to believe it wasn't in there.. So somewhere between my desk and theirs, the Apr21st receipt went missing. If I would have had a copy or pic of it at least in my records , I would have had a chance, but once it's all in the envelope you have no recourse. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't have me in the computer with the April 21st expiry anyway and even if in fact I was negligent and didn't renew my 90 day 3 months ago I'm sure someone would have called us advising that I was over and I had a fee to pay. They were very happy to call at 7:15 this morning to tell me that I owed them this. which has subtle irony for all the times I'd wished they would have been open early when I've been waiting for visas. But from now on I will keep backup on everything with immigration, I guess having to drive in and loosing 2000bt got me interested again.

  15. Just a heads up for anyone with a Thai wife or girlfriend whereby she might be looking for online work. As most people know Thailand is even worse than Western countries for scams. My wife was looking for a little pocket money and some shops were advertising at home packaging paying for the labor. She applied to 2 ladies,, the first was packing plastic flowers into clear plastic bags, after they were sorted, then the bags stapled. When they were sent back to the agent she claimed the staples weren't straight and didn't pay the fee for packaging (she did give my wife the initial deposit back though. I looked at the packing before it was sent and they were done just as requested), but no big deal live and learn. Now today the second different company has notified my wife that The main company in Nong Khai has gone dark and not paying the agent (Khon Kaen (whom my wife has dealt with) she said there is other ladies who have done packaging like my wife and are left on the hook not being paid  and she is getting all their info together to take to the police. I had my wife go to the local police station  here also and they seem at best indifferent to the whole scam and siad let the other lady handle it. Prior to packaging my wife paid 3000bt for the product (in this case rubber hair bands. )  This will obviously end with her loosing the 3000bt and her 2days of work. I feel sorry for my wife because she's as honest as they come and prime targets for these scum.  The agent is likely working together with the shop(if there is one) All of this was done via that wonderful world of facebook where this stuff flourishes. So if your wife is looking at any of these online schemes to try and make a little cash from home, thank her for her attempt but trust me , just tell her to forget it. And this wasn't any sort of get rich scheme, just a simple sort and package labor for a couple hundred baht. I've asked my wife to get online and burn these people but she's too nice and  I know she won't, thus the cycle continues for the next hundred suckers with the police not interested.

As the years have gone by I'm shocked at how  little regard Thais have for other Thais when it comes to money or get rich schemes, Loaning money to friends at a measly  7%/month, or  friends of ours   disappearing in the middle of the night so they didn't have to pay for the monthly restaurant rental in the morning,,,, and the list goes on. I'm not a Facebooker and suspect there is no recourse for this online and for 3000bt not worth the time. But if this post helps somebody to steer around this at least  maybe  it was worthwhile.

  16. you should spray these heavily and soak the surrounding ground with a form of Cypermethrin, Chlopyrifos as you mentioned is generally what I find around Chiang mai ask your garden center closest what they recommend and they may have something more mildly % concentrated that you could use longer term . Cypermethrin would be considered moderate as far as the dreaded insecticides go especially in Thailand (I haven't seen  Paraquat in Canada for 20 years), and there are more potent sprays if you like  (I can't wait to see the replies to that statement) but you need to stop these borers ASAP, we lost a lot of Coffee trees around Chiang mai to them and Unless you accept having these chopped in half every year you'll need to get some spraying started.(remove them or spray them  are   your choices or go to Mangos like you said) Organic sprays and their like will not hold up during rainy seasons for stem borers on this scale that you've described.Although  you don't want to spray,, If you can stop it this year,, next year you can try regular intervals of organic sprays to help keep them under control.by the sound of your post your neighbors are all spraying anyway so I don't know how "organically "isolated you still are, kind of like the organic rice farmer getting water from the canal that just went thru 10 non organic neighbors fields, but I understand your concerns good luck!

  17. As mentioned earlier, whichever Imm official  completes your application will tell you what she wants. We've had the same info for years and honestly they should look at ours and yawn it's so boring,  but Yesterday they wanted my wifes Surname change (tan document with blue border). We had stopped copying it 3 years ago after previous Marriage renewals and were told they didn't want it anymore. When I dug it out at home yesterday I even had tagged it "no longer wanted, 2015" we were able to complete the Marriage renewal with her but we have to go back and  show it to her again in 10 days with 2 copies after they move to the airport in order to finish processing. Inconvenient since we live a couple hours outside of Chiang Mai and burning another couple hours at immigration has no interest to me. We arrived at 8:30 got number 9 and weren't' completed until 2:30pm, ironically my friend went there at 4am for his retirement visa got #37 and finished a half hour before us. The short answer is that there is no hard and fast rule of what you are going to be required to show(4 years ago they used to take copies of my yellowbook too) so best you bring everything you've ever had in relation to your previous renewals, old passports, name changes, letters you might have proving your divorce from somebody else, video membership cards....just play along,, bring it alll. It's easier to find it in the bag and run and copy it for them and just happily  jump thru  hoops they ask. At least after the day is shot you won't have to worry about going back again. We also provided the map on their specific form as mentioned in previous posts. Good or bad it just is what it is and unless there is a cosmic shift at the Airport location count on the same . Have fun!

  18. We've been told at 2 Kasikorns that we need to go  to our branch which we opened the account (Tapae in our case), each year it costs 100 baht, this year they would not certify the amount the same day we went in but the day of our last transaction prior (in our case 12  days previous to the date the letter was signed), since that wouldn't have met the 7 day requirement I had to go back the next day, best if you do something even top up your phone the day before you want the letter written,, We've been at K bank 10 years but we were told this is their new rule beginning this year

  20. looks like still has problems, although as mentioned has proper apology and it lets you thru to the 90day form now, but after filling out the first page and submitting it just says to report to immigration. Mine should work, it's not my first 90 day, only been here since 2013 etc so I should be in the Chiang mai system. Looks like the Promenade fiasco next week...sigh. I see alot of people are just going to the visa shop beside now and paying 300 baht for 10 minute 90 day service, maybe just try that instead.

  21. Thanks ExpatJ. I agree, wish I had an aquaintance involved already.

A few notes possibly of interest to others…

    • After looking at their website FAQ’s What regulation covers the investment?? They state that they follow Jersey Financial Services Commision. Looking at the JSFC registry database I could not find Asia Forestry. After speaking with a company rep in Bangkok he noted that Asia Forestry was not with JSFC but a different investment arm was.
    • The attachment to their brochure says gauranteed returns. The price is based on todays market price of oil and looking forward etc.I think most would agree a bank deposit is a 99.9% gauranteed return , but with this you would have to have faith the company, trees etc would still be there in 6 years. Always difficult to gamble on a small company for 10%.
    • As much as we would like to be involved in this it is hard getting out of the gate when small items such as the website is misleading ( I also tried numerous times to send a list of questions to their website submission, but it was HTTP errored each time so not even able to get something in print. For Us we are looking for more of a gauranteed investment and this doesn’t work but for others this could be well worth the investment even with the hiccups.
  22. Has anyone been involved with the Asia Forestry Investment plans in Thailand ( asiaforestry.biz). We had spoke with a rep of the company in a mall in Chiang mai and My wife and I were interested. It advertises a 10-12% return termed over 3-6 years depending on the plantation. I am spooked due to the rate of return but I like the Agarwood Investment and trying to find something in thailand to Invest safely other than 3% at a bank. Anybody been involved with this and had good comments or bad?? Thanks
