  1. 800K in a Thai bank is an immigration requirement for extension of stay inside Thailand for retirement. It has never been a normal Consulate requirement for visa issue. Only Consulate that had such a requirement that I know of was Singapore for a year or so - but that has ended.

so if I make a trip to perth every 15 mths I dont have to show 800k in a thai bank is that correct?

  2. Yo!

    I am in Perth Australia.

Just yesterday Tuesday at 9am I went to the Thai consulate

with my passport, money and all of the paperwork.

Not Yvonne but her friend told me to come back at 1pm

when she returned my passport with a one year non o visa.

I had money to show but was not asked.

I did show a letter of guarantee and a photocopy of my girlfriend's id.

They have changed slightly the format of the application form

but were happy to accept the old forms available from this thread.

    A note about flying:-

Bangkok to Perth with Singapore Air costs 26,500 Baht with a change of plane in Singapore.

There is a minimum stay of 5 days and a maximum stay of 60 days.

You can change the departure date.

Bangkok to Perth with Thai Air costs about the same and is a direct non stop flight.

You cannot change the departure date.

(Information and prices from BAAS BOSS on Pattaya 2nd Road

near the intersection with Pattaya Tai)

Australia is not so bad and the food is great.

The Thai consulate is just down the road from Jewell House

a backpackers at A$41 per night.

Expensive by Thai standards, cheap by Australian standards.

Pity about the old church which is being rebuilt as a concrete cathedral with a 2 story car park

and all of the other development in Perth but it is still an interesting place

worth spending a little time in.

could someone please tell me do you still have to have 8000'000b in thai bank if you go to perth

  3. Can I also get double entry visa for free in Vietnam???? I went to Hanoi in Dec 2007 and could only get 60 day single entry and Saigon 3 months after that and again only a single and both cost money.

Only vientiane, Laos, is known to give double entries for free. Tourist visas are free from this month until june 4th, to promote tourism.

I'm doing a visa run next month to cambodia does anyone know if the single entry 60 day tourist visa is free or not I know there was talk about it last month but could some body conferm please.

  4. Judging by the smell often permeating from my kitchen, the missus enjoys a plate or two of fried crap. I'll have to take her to Mum Aroi for next valentines day and treat her to some of the horse <deleted>. :o

Presume you will not be kissing her afterwards...

bring her over to chinart there are lots of whole BBQ rats at the market at the moment B150 per kg I havent tried it but they cant seem to get enough of it ,dont know what the poor dogs and cats are eating these days.icon8.gif

  5. So another potential fire hazard.

Lets just hope the convicted drug takers go to jail, and they round up the sellers.Lets get the scum away from society

first of all lets define DRUG .a mind altering substance with tendancies to addiction the most widely abused DRUGS in the world are alchol and tobaco now if you use either of these may be you could be accused of self abuse and perhaps remove yourself from society with the rest of the SCUM. Or perhaps you sit at the right hand of God.

  6. I recently cancelled an operation (rather delicate) due to a huge increase in price. The operation was to cost approx 130k baht, but at the last moment the hospital increased the price to 150k. This represents a 50% increase, taking into account currency devaluation.

I was to have my penis size adjusted to 6 inches - but there is no way I will pay 150k just to have 3 inches removed

I too have always dreamt about that magical 6 inches, I found it better just to fold it in half.

size doesn't matter guys if you give them an inch they think they'er a RULER

In your position, I would be wondering if your 'friend' was indeed a true friend or was perhaps someone who wants to, say, rob your money or passport. Maybe you need to re-evaluate this 'friendship'.

No I dont think this is the case as he is in the same possition as I am,he said he was talkingto someone from Thai immigration and they told him about it he was just trying to help he has nothing to gain from it but maby the other party has .but thanks for the thought.

  8. There is no such law. And permanent residency is not a visa.

There has been a cabnet resolution to grant free visas for 3 months which will not apply to any immigration fee's.

If you wanted to apply for permanent residency now you would have to start all over again with the 3 one year extensions. They have to be back to back not total.

I was under the impression that consecutive was back toback

You are on a tourist visa now so you don't have either one now. You had consecuitive extensions before but you don't now.

    correct

  10. I have been living in Thailand for ten years appart from the last year that I have spent in cambodia I am currently in thailand on a 60 day tourist visa that I got in PP to visit my daughter .A friend in BBK just told me that there is a new visa law with which I can get permenant residency for free if I meet certain criteria .

I have had in the past 3 consecutive one year work permits ,could any one tell me if this is true.or is it just another scam to keep your application money if your application fails.

Sounds too good to be true, can anyone confirm please?

  11. You might show them this from their own website.

    - other activities (Category "O") as follows:

to stay with the family, to perform duties for the state enterprise or social welfare organizations,

to stay after retirement for the elderly, to receive medical treatment, to be a sport coach as

required by Thai Government, to be a contestant or witness for the judicial process.

It's on page 4 of this document.

While I was living in phuket ,where I lived for about 4yrs ,an older man was attacked beaten and robbed while while riding his motorcycle home one night during the attack he was hit in the head with a machetty and was hospitalised for about a week ,he was due to do his visa run to Ranong the day after the attack, he was assured by the hospital that if he took their reports and the police reports with him he would not have to pay the overstay so he went to the border armed with all the paperwork but the imm.officer refused to read the reports and made him pay the overstay so it seems that what is stated in the law doesn't mean a thing.

  12. I was in Nakhon S T 3 weeks ago. The airport is about 15 Km north of the city.

Don't know about transport. You can always venture out to the gate and wait for songtaew if you don't like taxies, or don't want to pay too much.

I lived and worked in Thasala for 4yrs which is closer to the airport than Nakorn city and the last songtaew is at 6pm so the only choice is a taxi at that time.....

  13. On Friday Night, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sutum was called to the back of the Areca Lodge Hotel in Soi Diana Inn, Central Pattaya, following reports of a suspected case of theft from a parked car.

Police arrived and noticed the passenger window of a red Honda Civic had been smashed. The car radio and a Buddhist emulate had been taken according to the car owner, Khun Natapong aged 32.

There was also a second car, a Bronze Toyota Camry, which had sustained a broken windscreen. 4 Buddhist Emulates and a bag containing a quantity of cash had been taken from the car owned by Khun Chalermchai aged 65.

Police conducted an on-scene investigation and approached a security guard working at a Hotel nearby who appeared nervous. He was in a drunken state and quickly confessed to the thefts.

Khun Mana aged 32 explained that this was the first time he had involved himself in criminal activities and was desperate for cash. He was arrested and charged with 2 cases of theft and is currently behind bars awaiting a court appearance.

I'm surprised he was arrested I thought it was one of the security guard perks.

  15. Two German tourists arrested for having sex in ancient Ayutthaya temple

AYAUTTAYA: -- -Two German tourists were caught in the act and fined Bt500 each for having sex inside an ancient temple in this central province Monday.

The couple were found by an official of National Historical Park of Ayutthaya having sex on a wall of the Srisanphet Temple at 12:30pm.

They stopped when the park official, Phaithoon Puengthong, blew his whistle while running toward them.

The couple were handed over to police and were fined Bt500 each before released.

So what were they charged with, maybe having sex without paying for it?

  16. thanks junki3korean

my wife is not pregnant as yet & we were refused a spouse visa to australia in april/may 2008 on the grounds we had not been

together long enough to satisfiy immigration .we are both keen to have a child within the next year.

if she was to have a baby in thailand i would then have to make arrangements for the childs visa also,

mmm having the child in oz does sound like a better option,

    thank you very much.

H i may be I can be of some help as I have already been through this before .In my oppinion you would be better off having the child in thailand it will be cheaper and it will make no difference to the baby having duel nationalities and two passports .you go to the australian embassy in BK and you get an australian passport for the baby without any problems ,my daughter has both Thai and Australian passports,so she can travell to aus.as an Australian and back to Thailand as a thai.

And I feel sure your wife would feel much happier being surrounded by her family when she has the baby.

  18. Hatyai – anxiously referred to as the Land of Dreams where local women from all over Thailand come to seek better lives and men from all over South East Asia come to have their sorry hearts broken.

Hatyai – eagerly referred to as the Anchor of Activities where sex is as common as shopping and visiting massage parlors is as common as visiting temples.

Hatyai - jokingly referred to as the City of Fakes where men wear fake Rolex watches, fake Dunhill belts and fake Bally shoes while women carry fake Louis Vutton bags, wear fake Channel blouses, fake Levis jeans and put on fake Christian Dior perfumes. To say the extreme, you can even find women with "fake" beauty, from their nose jobs to their double eyelids, from their breasts to their private parts. Even virginity can be faked!

Being the third largest city in Thailand and one of the most common getaway for Asians, it is a pity that Hatyai has never been listed as a tourist destination for the Western tourists.

Yes I know I lived there for 1 year it was the year they put the bomb in the railway and blew it to hel_l,and everything you say is pretty much on the money, but I think the most important thing that you forgot to mention is how close it is to the border FOR THE 15 DAY VISA RUNS.....

  19. I was in the middle of doing a visa run to Malaysia at the time of the first publication on ThaiVisa of this change.

Needless to say I was a somewhat surprised to be told I could only have 15 days.

I have just completed a double-entry tourist visa (180 days).

I now have what is remaining of 15 days.

My question is about getting back to back tourist visas:

Will there be any difficulty in obtaining another double-entry tourist visa next week?

I was thinking of going to Laos.

I have been in Thailand in the same hamlet in Krabi Province for just over 1 year almost continuously (a mix of visa-runs and TVs).

    I am Aussie

    I am unmarried

    Financially independant

    Under retirement age

I have no problems with following all the rules, I just need to know what they are.

Well chances are that by the time you get to know what the rules are they will change them and you will have to learn them all over again.I lived in thailand for 10 yrs trying to follow the rules one year ago I got sick of it and moved to cambodia, where you can get a room with cable TV for around $100 a month and if you get a $25 business visa which you can extend from 3 mths to one year bye bye visa runs, you can get your extensions from the supermarket without ever going near a border.

I cant believe that there are expats still living in Slyland why would you do that to yourself just pack a bag and come to Sihanoukville its just the same only cheaper and a fraction of the hassle.......
