"Documents for Notification of the Residence of Foreigners
According to Immigration Act B.E. 2522 (section 38) Please contact www.suratimmigration.go.th"
Thanx -
Go yesterday to SAMUI immigration to make the transfer from my old passport to the new one i just received.
Prepares copy of old pages first, fullfilled a form, gave the package to the "nice" lady who the ask me in french :Her : cinq cent,
Me : Sorry ?Her : cinq cent.
Me : Sorry, i really dont know what you are saying. Her : five hundreds bahts
Me ; ohhhhhh, ok, i thought it was free !Her : No.
Pay and come back in 3 hours and gave me ticket number "555"
I get it 2 hours later, after going to lunch in Bophut.
SAMUI IMM is allways full of surprise, when they cannot charge you in one place they find another one.
So for those who are gonna say, you should not have pay, you should have do this and that, dont need to waist your time, i have to go there again next month to renew my 1 year extension and i dont want to have any problems with them.

On his page, someone well advised say :
" FWIW: the thai visa forum is not always the best place to look for accurate information unless you wanna wade thru a mountain of bullsh*t.
I give you a TOTAL FAIL."

Thanx for your answer.
Its seem in China now, they only give a 3 months visa as well.
Why .... So strange. My friend have a business, with all paper, work permit, All.
3 years back, in China, agencies was making for him a one year multiple without any papers. Now its impossible. -
Looking for answers.
Does any one here know why Chinese citizen cannot get one year Non-B visa, even with all papers, including Work Permit.
Instead they are just allowed to get a 3 months visa.

At Sadao border, the "rules" is to put 200 baths inside your passport.
No questions asked and no problems.
Hundred of people do that every day.
"Toutist" who make border run from Koh Samui-Phangan-Tao and probably more..... -

Good options given but I would come in on 30 day visa exempt then flyto Vientiane Laos and get a 60 day SETV=single entry tourist visa which could be extended in Thailand at immigration for an additional 30 days for 1900 baht. I like visiting Vientiane as you know Laos was a French colony and still has citizens there who speak French and some nice French restaurants.
Instead of Vientiane, you could go in Penang, much more easy from Samui.
HD Visa in Samui is pretty well know for organising the trip to penang.
More infos in private if you want.
Beside, Thai consulate in Paris have allways been real pain in the ass to deal with them,I am french, je suis francais.

Thank you all -- very helpful indeed!
Does anyone have a copy/scan (with the private info shaded out) of the bank letter needed for immigration when requesting a first retirement extension to a "non O"? I ask as my small local branch of Kasikorn don't know what I'm talking about, and their English is not great, and I don't know exactly what the letter needs to state, if it needs to be in English or Thai, etc...
And I gather it has to be dated the day of the visa extension request -- correct?
Many thx
TAD
Here is a copy...

Thats happen to me one time in CDG airport.
I was on my return fly from thailand.
After some discussion, they have ask me to go to make a photocopie of my passport, then they have make me sign a paper stating that i will cover by myself the cost of a return fly to paris, if Immigration in Thailand refused to let me in.
I have had no problem to enter on a 30 day exemption visa, -
Keep in mind that the Immigration have moved from Nathon to Maenam, See link Here

Wrong about that.
If you look at item #8, it specifies that they're demanding a hospital medical certificate as part of the application process for a retirement extension. That is NOT a requirement for a retirement extension in Thailand.
At Samui Immigration, YES IT IS.....

Well ...I went to Nathon yesterday but was incapable to complete the foreign national information form, I did not know by heart the telephone numbers of my emergency contacts details for one Thai and one foreign national, for the simple reason my "very old iPhone 6" does not works at all any more, at least the screen becomes completely mad sometimes, yes this "old iPhone" is little more than one year and unfortunately for the first time I had not take Apple Care, and was incapable till now to have it repaired in Samui. I reckon I felt a little stupid.
So I went to Nathon again this morning 11h30, I knew they close at 12h so came back a 13h they called me at 14h50 gave me back only my bank book, not my passport, telling me to keep the cardboard with my number and come back after tomorrow the 28th at 14h. That's all I can tell.
But it is not the first time they keep my passport a day or two for the yearly extension, here I am to day
Thanx for that... So i guess your medical certificate from bophut have been accepted.
Come back 2 days after, how strange ???
