  1. Definitely get Shinrix even if you have to try and order it online or go to a pharmacy like Boots and see if they will order it in for you. 2 shots, first one then 2 months later second one. I had Shingles and it is definitely lots of pain and doesn't go away quickly. It's been close to two years since I had them and have nerve damage that I am still taking Gabapentin for and Dr says maybe for life. I got the Shinrix shots as soon as Dr said I could, don't want to go thru that again. When Shingles could happen cost means nothing if you can try to prevent them. Good Luck.

Does any country other than America have that quaint custom of alimony where the man has to keep paying the ex wife? It's bad enough in other western countries, but normally once the divorce is final the sucker ex husband doesn't have to keep paying.

Same in Canada. Goes to prove the old joke is not really a joke.   Alimony- the <deleted> your getting that you should have got before.

So; Thai's will be able to explore Space and other Planets before thay have drinkable Tap Water or a decent Sewage System.   Do the people who run this country ever think about how f+++++g dumb they look to the rest of the World ?

Justin Trudeau and Prayut and some of the cabinet ministers must be related as we have the same thing in Canada. No drinkable tap water many places and sewage dumped into the St Lawrence river.

What will all those poor sailers/Marines do when they find out all the bars with all those really tall girls that have those really big boobs (and really big feet, and big hands, and deep voices) are all closed ?

Used to be hilarious watching them on Walking Street in years past. They'd see all the LBs at Jenny's or the Linda bar and it never occurred to them that they were guys.

Of course, by the time they'd made it that far down WS they'd already passed a couple dozen bars full of real women and were usually half drunk as well. So when they saw the katoeys they thought they'd struck gold ! All those tall girls with big cannonball boobs and no one had bar fined them yet ! Jackpot !

Of course, shore leave may be restricted this time about, which would really suck (or would result in a lack of suck).

They usually do some kind of charity thing when they are here as well, which may or may not happed either. Maybe. Or not. Possibly. Who knows ? Will have to wait and see !

Gonna be interesting when they come for shore leave expecting same as before and find the majority of bars are closed and the majority of the Ladies have gone back home to work in the fields as bars shut down and no stinking smelly (according to a lot of government officials) foreign tourists to keep them busy and employed.

That Thai men do like they want and take what they need many times when it regards women, relationship and marriage that we all know. It´s nothing new, even if it is a totally brain damaged way of living.

What I am curious over, is how the monks can be allowed to continue marrying someone, who they by the time doing the ceremony knows is married to another woman by law? What does the monkhoods belief and rules say about that? What stance does the Sangha Council take in this matter? I was under the belief they were the ones who was showing people to walk on the right path in life.

My appologies if my post is against the forum rules. Just had to write it off my chest.

The temple ceremony is just a religious ceremony, same as some cultures jump the broom. It is not recognized as a legal marriage until it is registered with the  Amphur.

drunk driving, dangerous driving and maybe over speeding.... lock him up, remove his DL for the next 5 years, don't let him get away with a 500 baht fine and a Thai waii

Does he even have a license, many Thais don't bother to get one as a lot of them think drivers licences are  something Farangs want so they don't bother to get one. Besides that the police dont enforce the law and a quick 200 baht and your on your way.

Top causes of collisions and injury in Thailand:

    1. Lack of driver education, training, and road safety marketing, leading to ignorance of consequences and selfish attitudes of drivers.

    2. Poor enforcement, leading to widespread ignoring of traffic laws and principles eg speeding, seat belts, helmets, ghost riding, drivers hours, maintenance.

    3. Preponderance of motorcycle use, with no protective gear, especially helmets.

    4. Widespread drink driving, with little consequence of punishment like disqualification, heavy fines, jail time or higher insurance premiums.

    5. Poor road design, with little vehicle separation eg motorcycles and trucks competing for space, dangerous u-turns from slow traffic into fast traffic, poor junction design with little signage or traffic islands to separate traffic, lack of roundabouts (traffic circles), poor marking of roadworks or damaged road surfaces, poor standard of road construction.

Until all the above are addressed, nothing will change for the better. As most victims (motorcyclists, pickup bed passengers and pedestrians) are poor, no one in authority cares about them.

You forgot to mention probably about half of the Thais don't even have a drivers license or any drivers training especialy in the countryside and the police if they pull them over 200 baht and away they drive.  My ex didn't have a license and if she saw a roadblock turned around and if pulled over 200 baht and away she goes. Typical Thai responce if I told her she had to get license, Not need, too much trouble to get.

What I saw in Tachilek in January and in Chiang Mai alarmed me, gold shops and a huge new casino in Tachilek and many old bars taken over and turned into money exchanges in Chiang Mai also guest houses in Chiang Mai turned into Chinese hotels. Chinese writing everywhere  Chiang Mai looks like it’s completely taken over and Tachilek looks like the Chinese are building gold shops hotels and brothels at great speed.

This is happening world wide. The Chinese are buying everything they can get there hands on and supplying funds to governments that are running out of money. What do you think is going to happen when and if this is over and the Chinese start to call in there debt, they will end up owning the world. One world government is coming. I am not a religious person but doesn't the bible state that the world will end up being be ruled by the yellow race (Chinese). This Covid Pandemic and the news coverage by a few of the worlds richest men and a certain government has been in the works and planned for years. I am glad I am old and won't see the results as it could end up to be a massive uprising and world war on a scale not seen before but feel bad for my sons and grandchildren. Look around and see if there is any large or even middle size city in the world that doesn't have a large or medium size Chinatown.

well said....they take no notice of any laws, so what WILL THEY DO ABOUT THIS and who is going to enforce ???

What are the poor policemen going to do without there side supply of cash Songkran supplies. Ban on high power PVC Pipes and the police are going to confiscate any they see. Ha Ha. saw this many times, confiscate water cannon off mostly Farang, drive down street or next soi and sell to someone else. Cash grab for them for at least a week.

Not surprised I also have Allianz and know that it is a <deleted> shoot for reimbursement.

I truly feel sorry for them

I agree 100%. I had allianz for years and they turned out to be a complete <deleted> company. I had a problem in Thailand and was turned down for cover and had to pay bill myself. I visited a Dr in Canada about a month before going to Thailand on a completely unrelated thing and they turned me down saying I had a pre existing condition. Took months of fighting them when I returned but was eventually re imbursed.

Sad news hope he can get it sorted. is a fact my friend from Canada had a bad motorbike crash the Canadian government paid for his hospital expenses including out patients . he told me he was covered in the event of accidents by the government . they also paid me for taking him back and forth every day for dressing change. mabey is only certain provinces that do this . wish him best of luck to recover

I am a Canadian and was in Bangkok Pattaya hospital and was forced to pay my bill before release. We are covered by medical but only to the amount they would pay at home and when you return you have to send all bills to them and they decide what they will pay. Many things covered in Canada are not covered in Thailand, ie ambulance, some testing + other things. First and last time traveling without insurance but over 65 you get raped and gets worse with age. Used to spend 6 months a year in Thailand but can't afford to any more. Over 25 years.

  13. Back 15 or 20 yrs the drivers were almost as bad but they were at least aware of what was going on around them. But nowadays with the popularity of the cell phone most are completely unaware of anything except the little screen in front of them. It is almost impossible to see a driver of a car or m/c that the driver doesn't have a cell phone stuck to there ear or texting. Nowadays many times you see 2 girls on there cell phone talking to each other and they are standing maybe 10 ft apart. It has become part of there culture and many are addicted to there phones and think they can't exist without them. I agree with a previous poster anyone caught on there phone while operating a car or m/c on there phone should have there phone taken away. I don't agree crush them first time but 1st time i week taken away, 2nd time 1 month and if caught 3rd time must watch phone being destroyed. Especialy operating m/c, how many times you see someone going down the road on a m/c operating one hand because talking on the phone with other hand. In Canada now if you get caught it's a heavy fine and you don't want to get caught driving no licence or no insurance. police watch and enforce the laws.
