dmax,ask around about making a pond.as i say i am not a expert.i was making a suggestion.if you do go in this direction you will need to live on the land next to your pond though.some thai,s would steal your fish.there are a lot of places where you can pick up info on this subject though.

livingin exile,first of all i think you need to get your visa in order.as i have said to daveman in one of my other post i think putting in a pond would be a real good idea,but you need to live on the land or you have the fish stolen from you.since you have a lot of capital you may be able to set up a fish camp.look at mega fishing in thailand .i think there is one near bkk that has 30 ponds i believe.i think one place you can get info is from khon kean university.i believe there are other areas that also can help you out.i my self will be in thailand at the end of july.i have not done this myself as of yet ,but i plan on doing this when i get to thailand.just making a suggestion. p.s. not a fish camp ,but a pond to sell fish.

daveman i am thinking about puttin a 2 to 3 rai pond myself,but if you have the land i would put in a bigger one.i think gary a. is very correct on that daveman.you would have to be very near on top of the pond because some thai,s will still from underneath your nose.i have heard khon kaen university may be able to give you a heads up on what size and what to feed the fish. i believe it is a good way to make money,but you need to very careful who you are dealing with though.as i see you will need to live by the pond in order to make a go at it though.sorry i meant to say steal. wish you luck in your endeavor.

daveman,i made a suggestion to someone else about a fish pond.i will be in thailand in july and thinking seriosly about putting in one myself.my girlfriend says she pays 40 baht a kilo for fish.you would probably need oxygen for the pond in the dry season.also you would need to feed them for 3 years after that maybe you can cut down on the feeding time.check with some other folks about what i am saying.i think if you girlfriend has some land this would be a good idea.you want need no special work visa if it belongs to your girlfriend i think.on the other h and you need to check about this also.just trying to help out.

anyone fish around khon kaen.if you do where are the fishing holes at if i may ask.any size to the fish.my future wife says theres some fish in the big lake there.it looks good ,but i do not really know if there is much fish in it.

you must not be to far from the old airport.yes i know where nonthaiburi is at robblok.acrss the river from bkk.if i put in a pond it will be to sell the fish.i will let my future wifes uncle take care of it.i know i will have to put some some type of aerators in it to give it some oxygen in the dry season.i probably would fish in it myself occasionally.i will be about 100 miles away. first i will need to discuss with the uncle about putting a pond in where he lives.i would probably need to make it very deep because of the dry season loss of water.
