I think it has been common practice for Imm to ask for 12 month bank statement.
I remember 2 years ago, when I went renewing my non-o at Nonthaburi. The bank letter and a book updated was not sufficient. They asked for a 12 month bank statement signed and stamped by the bank. Once submitted, they accepted my documents but after 2 weeks, immigration called to provide the current month statement, once again signed and stamped by the bank. I did provide it and everything went fine.
My wife asked them why is this require because it does not even feature in the requirement list, the lady answered that because there's no proof of income. The top gentlemen wanted to see if I have income or cash flow before approving my extension as my account was always idle. The year after, I did prepare all related statement etc., there was no issue.
However, last year, I started work again and was able to provide a work permit together with a 12 month bank statement, it was flatly refused. We were told that the work permit was enough together with the bank letter and a bank book update.
I hope that my little experience help others in that matter.

You'll find out later that you won't be able to use your foreign credit card at all. Truemoney Wallet was a boon as I could pay at 7-11 using my foreign CC.
I just had a conversation with their customer support as the application keeps rejecting my new credit card as the old got one expired. I told them that my new CC requires authentication by my bank and the application no longer gives me the option to do that. The CS replied and insisted that it's the new policy in Thailand, no foreign credit card allowed in TrueMoney Wallet anymore. I asked who implemented such policy, the CS answered that it is the Bank of Thailand.
Go figure if that's true or not but well, I'm stopping TrueMoney Wallet altogether.

Why does many peeps around keep saying that they get less mileage using E20 compared to E10 (Gasohol 91 & 95)?
I used all of them interchangeably and notice no difference in mileage.
1 full tank (on either E20 or E10) always gets me 350-450 km. At least I don't floor the accelerator when driving. My RPM is always between 1200 and 1700 rpm max when travelling inter province or city.
There are suggestions that having 2L engine, you should go beyond 100km/h to save gas, that's above 1500rpm which sucks more gas.
If you really want to save on gas, always drive below 1500rpm, and you can go for longer drive. Use your N gear as well on longer stops, you should see your rpm goes below 1000rpm on idle.

Hello guys, the files are no longer available. Is there anyone who's willing to share them again?
Thanks!

Thanks Ubon for the reply.
The letter has already been certified & legalised by the Royal Thai Embassy in SA, Pretoria but for some obvious natural reason, the letter reached out late past the expiry date.
Therefore, I have been told by the IO to leave the country using both old & new passport and get a new Non-O from a nearby Royal Thai Embassy using the new passport. However, most information on the Thai embassy webites have a restricted list of Countries which Mauritius is included.
I've called the Royal Thai Embassy in KL and got an automatic message to call between 3-5pm as they are busy with the Vientiane not answering at all.
-
Thanks Ubonjoe. the thing is due to some stupidity from the immigration, they do not recognise my new passport (all paper works provided & certified by the Thai Embassy in Pretoria) and was asked to leave the country, get a new non-o and come back.
So, my only option is to get a non-o at the nearest embassy!
-
Thanks a lot for the input. Guess I'll give both KL and Vientiane a phone call to confirm if Mauritius is really barred from getting Non-O.

I need the help of the expert once again.
I'd like to know if it is possible to get a Non-O (legally married to Thai and father to a Thai born son) in Vientiane?
I have been reading through the consular service of the Thai Embassy in Vientiane (through google translation) that Mauritian citizen should apply from the country of residence.
Could any kind soul confirm it or I can apply for a non-o there?
Thanks in advance!!
-
Indeed, it is a single entry one.
Thanks for the confirmation lopburi and steve.

Hello all,
It is my 2nd time having to apply for a non imm O visa based on marriage at the Thai Consulate at my home country.
The first one was 6 years ago and I had my extension done without any issue until I left the country in 2014.
Now, I am coming back and the Thai consulate told me that after 90 days of entering Thailand, I have to do an extension with all the necessary documents + the 400K bank account which is not a problem for me.
But it is very confusing. Could you please confirm if it is true that after entering Thailand, I have 90 days to do an extension of stay? Or is it after the 1st year?
Thanks before hand.
Cheers.

That's very kind of you providing the required help. It's greatly appreciated

Thank you very much for the help
I haven't paid any taxes yet because of my assumption that the threshold is 30K. If I go to the thai revenue department and start paying tax now, do I have to pay a fine or something since I got my work permit around August of this year?
-
Ubonjoe, thank you for the quick clarification. Regarding tax payments, could you please tell me what's the income threshold to pay tax?

Hello everyone. I have been extending my non-O for the past 3 years without any issue presenting 400K in my bank account every time at the immigration.
Next February, I have to extend my non-O again and I have a work permit now. So, should I still have to show 400K in my bank account to extend my non-O? Or simply use the work permit for the extension?
Any clarifications would be much appreciated

Hello, I'm in dire need of a good pediatrician in Hat Yai.
We use to go to Bangkok Hat Yai, and Sikarind Hospital. But whenever we need to talk to a pediatrician over night, there's none available.
In my home Country, I can call them anytime and rush to their house or private clinic. Here, it's more like a struggle to find an good private pediatrician that is available whenever some health issues arises.
Any help/recommendation would be much appreciated

Why do they have to learn the region language when English will be the main communicative language?
Thais always try to find the easiest way to solve problematic issues... Why can't they master English as they should and get ready for 2015? Go figure!
-
Well thanks for the output.
But it gives little explanation as to why high ups 2WD have 4WD stickers on them and sellers confirming they are indeed SUV when you can't see any levers or switch buttons, that's the mind boggling thing.
As we all know what Thais aren't that much "honest" when doing business.
@overherebc, I don't wish to buy one but I was just having a look at the cars & SUV on display at Big C Extra, and found it skeptical that such SUVs are advertised as 4WD when there's no lever or switch button.
I feel very suspicious that the seller has confirmed to my wife that the SUV on display is a 4WD with the sticker, but doesn't have any lever/switch button.
Won't you feel suspicious if you were going to buy a SUV and they advertise it as 4WD but there's no lever at all? I certainly would.
The same thing regarding my inlaw's D-MAX, on the side there's the stickers showing clearly 4WD, but none at the back and no lever/switch at all. (refer to my previous post #4 for more information)
How one can you explain that?
-
Thanks guys! So indeed, the conclusion is that 2WD are being sold as 4WD here since their suspension are high up. Either the sellers are liars or ignorant.
I would love to hear other's opinions on that particular matter.
-
Thanks for the replies guys. But it's still mind boggling!
I just went to see my in-law '10 D-Max, and I couldn't possibly find any switch on the dash that could relate to a 2WD/4WD.
My wife was there sitting, and I asked her to ask her father if he can confirm that's a 4WD. The answer was affirmative.
If I consider what's Jitar has posted, why do they advertise them as 4WD when they're clearly not 4WD?
Now, can we safely say that the dealers are a bunch of liars?
Please note that my wife was also with me, and she was the one doing the translation to the seller as at that time, I couldn't see the lever at all on the PJS.
I was told by the seller that the SUV is 4WD.

Hello guys,
I started an interested in 4WD vehicles here in Thailand, and 1 question is mind-boggling... where's the 4WD lever as shown in the picture in the link below?Sellers are saying that the Pajero Sport / D-Max on display at Big C extra (Hat Yai) are 4WD but when I have a look inside, there's no lever at all.Question: Do Thai 4WD model do not have the lever?Pajero Sport 4WD lever: http://s7.paultan.org/image/P1050030b.jpgI must say that the supposedly D-Max 4WD on display recently do not have the level as well. -
Hi guys,
I would really appreciate it if you can provide me contact details for the townhouse in Klong Hae

Any one can improve a patent by mentioning previous patents as known prior art. Once you bring novelty, there's nothing wrong. I wonder how Apple won this case if Samsumg has improved Apple's patent with novelty with different methods to achieve the same.

Thanks for the info Kwasaki. I'll get my yellow book done tomorrow then. Cheers!

hi guys,
I'll have to renew my 1 year driving license that'll expire next Wednesday. I've gone to the Songkhla Immigration Office to get the TM47 form, and they said that they don't do that and to try at my amphoe. Now that I've gone to my Amphoe, they don't know anything about such form and where I can get this Certificate of Residence.
Question, if I get myself a yellow book, can I use this instead of the certificate of residence?
Thanks in advance.
Shell V Power Diesel B7 vs PTT UltraForce Diesel B7, which gives better mileage?
in Thailand Motor Discussion
Posted
Hi guys,
I've always been using the Shell V Power Diesel B7 (as per recommendation of German Auto to use Premium Diesel) in my F34 and was happy with the mileage with a full tank as it could go beyond 1k km (a trip from Nonthaburi to Songkhla and I was still having a quarter tank left). However, in the recent months, a full tank goes much less (around 750-800 km) for same trip.
I wondered why and I started to test with 600 baht top up to see how long it can last for the past few months. I found out that the car could barely make 230-250km on 600baht now. I always keep my speed less than 80km/h at 1300-1500 rpm so that the car takes less fuel. I keep wondering why the sudden change as I'm following the same service intervals as per recommendation by the dealership.
With that being said, I wanted to know what are the differences between the Shell V Power Diesel B7 and the PTT UltraForce Diesel B7.
Are there any differences and can I swap to PTT UltraForce Diesel B7? Would it give better mileage?
Thanks in advance for your answers/recommendations/help.
