I live in Nimmanhaemin, Hillside 3.
Every weekend there is loud music to be heard from the back of the condo where they stage a live music show in (cant remember name of it)
I have been there once, to see what all the noise was for and it was quite entertaining.
But, I just do not know how anyone could hear themselves talk. I will not go back there. It doesn't have to be that loud.
As for the Monkey Club, I think its very well run. As said, there was not a problem with music outside until recently. I do hope they get that they get their act together and stop the outside music.
I do totally agree with the closure of Moisture" on Soi 17, I used to drive past there and think how do the people living there, put up with that.
I love the way Nimmanhaemin road and soi's has become the "in" place to be seen for young Thai's. Its vibrant and lively, I hope that it continues to be so. It's not boring and its not sleazy. I think its becoming chic,
It is bringing in a good standard of young (mostly uni students as one would expect) into the area who enjoy just sitting having a coffee or a beer.

If you just want to "read" it
Simply mark all [command]+[A]
Then [command]+[T]
And select a build in font
Mac Os comes with compatibly fonts (back from the os9 times) which are Native Thai, they have names of Towns in Thailand like "thonburi"
If they not in the font list, you can install thai support from your osx install dvd.
I do not use Microsoft office on my macbook pro or my iMac.
But I have Thai keyboard ticked in Preferences, Language and Text,
Also, "allow a different one in each document" selected.
Keyboard character view selected.
( I brought my mac's from Thailand)
I (my girlfriend) never has a problem typing in Thai as long as the Thai keyboard is selected.
As long as you have Thai fonts downloaded onto your mac, then logically any program running should use the fonts desired.
You can use keyboard view or get an overlay for the keyboard in Thai to choose the right key if you brought your mac in another country.
I am sure you can find the solution on the mac website for downloading more fonts and as already said, set up from your install dvd.

<deleted> I spend ten minutes putting together a reply and it disappears.
Happened to me too ????

If you buy a real one in Thailand just ask for it to be unlocked as they all do anyway I believe.
Don't bother with the copies, as said already, you get what you pay for. Its worth the extra to get the original.

Get a MacBook Pro.
Quality and long life. Once you get used to it, you wont go back trust me.

I got a macbook pro about a year ago and never looked back. I got an 1mac 27" 6 months ago, awesome
I have windows 7 installed on my MBP 15" and run (when rarely needed) seamlessly without having to reboot. I would save a little longer and get a MacBook pro if I were you.
As with any apple stuff, its quality, you will get a longer life out of it. There are video tutorials on apples web site for how to run and get the best out of your mac.
I can use firefox, chrome, and of course Safari, if I have to use IE i can run windows. If you ever do go with parallels then do not go with bootcamp or you will have to reboot overtime.
But that is depending on what you want.
So save your pennies and for the MBP not the Airbook due to the port limitation and lack of HD. (thats just my recommendation) Nothing wrong with the Airbook depending on your needs. You may wan to consider an IPAD when the new one comes out with a usb port. if you really want to go that way.

I purchased an unlocked Iphone 4 from Chiang Mai. I never had a problem with it and use any sim, it was 26000 for 32g version, but then you have to pay the 7% tax.
any provider will sell pay as you go if you want that and they will give you a mini sim for the ip 4
Any apple shop will sell them unlocked, I went to a lot of providers and they didnt have the 32g in stock at the time, So Apple sold me one for the same price and DTAC gave me a mini sim with my same number, or they can cut them to fit.
hope this helps

This is not news.

If I set up a anonymous program to use the internet' date=' will this stop 3bb cutting back my torrent downloads?
[/quote']
Suggest you get a T1 line and there will not be any cutting back of torrent downloads.
Browsers use mainly http signals, while torrent clients use mainly udp.
Thanks for the info
The plastic bad worked for a bit thanks.

I have had this problem for ages too. I had the 6mb pack, got so fed up with the up and down every 2 mins that I went and upgraded to the 8mb pack to see if there was any difference,<div>Guess what, the same. </div><div>I called, and before the put the phone down everything was good, the tech phoned me and asked about the problem 2 times in that day and it was all very good. </div><div>So far not too bad, but early hours it seems to die till about 8am.</div><div>I actually managed to get a stable game of WOW (Asia pacific region) for 8 hours solid with no lag and not hang ups. I like to see how long it lasts.</div><div>I also have AIS home router which used to be fairly stable and has the same problem as 3bb for the same amount of time,</div><div>I am just going to cancel that as 30gb limit is just not enough as I download a lot of torrents and clocked up a bill of 4000 bhat one month. </div><div>I could at least compare the 2 then and as they both use a different way of connecting I could see that what I think its just the Thai infrastructure is not capable of handling the high volume of internet use. One day maybe in 10 years they may get their act together and give a service on par with Korea and Japan </div><div>Dream on. lol </div><div>If anyone gets a good service with any provider please post asp so we can all enjoy normal internet life.</div>

Hi
Does anyone have any experience and can recommend anonymous internet browser programs and how to set them up easy?
I have an Imac 27 and mac book pro using 3bb 8mb package with the Billion wireless router they supply.
If I set up a anonymous program to use the internet, will this stop 3bb cutting back my torrent downloads?
I have download Tor but when i open the package vadila, It wont work.
Should I need to change my router?
I have seen GoTrusted but this isnt free,
Any advice or recommendations will be be appreciated.

i think originally the disc image is in the Documents Folder
i moved them to another partition
the structure is like "Virtual Machines/Paralles Machines" -name of the machine- / - name of the disk
the imagefile contains everything of your windows installation.
if you make a copy of that file (or simply Right Click and "Duplicate" .. you have a backup of the moment you make it (parralells should not run at this time)
thats it already
about the "no internet" ... i would not trust windows on this, better you set in preferences of the virtual machine to not use any networking (uncheck "connected"), (then your windows will "think" the network cable is unplugged)
otherwise it will "call home anyway"
Hi,
I use parallels on my MacBook pro but don't have it on my imac, But I use AVG free for use in Windows 7, But saying that paralles should have come with that kaprinski thingy for 1 years free virus internet protection.
Enjoy, your Mac you wont go back

Hi,
Couldnt help see your statement "AIS honour 30gb for 1500 baht a month."
I am not surprised AIS honour that, as I pay 854 bhat for the 30gb.
Billing Cycle
Total Current Charge
*Total Outstanding Balance
(including previous balance)
Current Due Date
01/03/10 - 31/03/10
854.93
854.93
26/04/10
I wish they did an unlimited option as I got stung 2000 baht Aug for going over my 30gb. No warning, you have exceeded your limit.
Any way just thought you should go and see them and ask them to honour the 854 baht per month..

I have an AIS 3G wireless router and I pay 650 baht for unlimited use . The router cost me 3900 baht....so I do not know what you gentlemen are paying for. So I am unable to compare my router against your "stick"...is that some sort of aircard?>
Regards
Thanks for the info raindancer,
I will be looking at that as I have the wifi router not the stick.
seems there is no consistency as always, with anything within Thailand. But still love the place.

Hi,
I am assuming you are talking about Suvarnabhum Airport?
There is the expensive option where you do not have to go out of the airport at all. its a hike down to the end of the furthest gate G I think or H.
It cost me 2000 baht for 4 hours, I think its 8000 baht for 12 hours. Louise Tavern is the name of the owners. The rooms were very nice and it saves leaving the Airport.
The other option for a small but nice for the price hotel is the Convenient resort. google convenientresort The rates are very good 1300 up to 2600 baht, the staff very helpful.
Then there is the 5 star Suvarnabhum Novo Hotel that is about 5000 bhat a night
Hope that helps a bit and thats all I have had experience with.

Go for it. It's a great machine. Hardware quality is unlike anything currently sold by PC manufacturers. Remember Apple making a very big fuss about their manufacturing technique - carving every MacBook Pro out of a solid block of Aluminum? Well - it really shows. This thing is built like a brick. Nothing is moving, nothing is shaking, in fact the machine looks pretty much good as new - and it's almost 2 years old, and I really abuse my laptops. I never had anything like it, and that includes any prior Apple products.
For compatibility - Microsoft makes MS Office for Mac, and you can use that. You can get illegal copies everywhere you can get them for Windows - and, I might add, that's what I've heard - no idea where that would be .
There's also Apple's own version called iWork - Pages (like Word), Numbers (like Excel), Keynote (like PowerPoint). These are a little nicer than the Word versions and they're better if you use them for your private use, like writing letters and stuff. They can import and export the Microsoft formats. But if you frequently need to exchange Word documents with others, you will need to use the Office suite from Microsoft. Import/export is 99%, but that remaining 1% makes it annoying enough to not be worth it for exchanging documents. Ok maybe KeyNote is the exception - presentations made with Keynote actually look really good, vs. your standard fugly PP presentations.
Anyway for what most people do with their computers, compatibility is a non-issue.
I work in Oil & Gas and all our reports are done in MS Word & Excel. So, if I did all my reports on a Mac offshore, would the client be able to open them in the office onshoreon a Windows PC? Is the file format saved so this would be possible? If it is then I am buying one!!
I work Oil and gas also. I got myself a macbook pro 15" 10 months ago and I agree, once you had a mac you wont go back. I just got a 27" imac also.
I also run windows 7 with parallels on my macbook pro. Its all easy to do, (do not use bootcamp)
I use pages and save any docs in Windows format that I need to send off like CVs etc, no problems.
Mac's are great machines. go get one. you wont be disappointed. Mail is the only thing I have an issue with but that is sorted now.
lots of people out there to help on the forums.
enjoy

Hi
I have installed parralells and windows 7 on my Mac book with no problem at all
U should not have used bootcamp
I would uninstall it all and start again bypassing the option to use bootcamp
Or if it is possible if u have backed it all up before they messed it up restore before that time
Or reformat and start over
Parralells guide to installation is very good.
Hope this may help a bit
U can contact me by private message if wish
But am no expert though

Hi BrandX
you would be very lucky to get a Russian Visa without the correct documents in Thailand, ie proof of residence/work permit
I can not answer you question about the Yellow Tabien Bahn as I do not have a clue what that is.
I send my passport off to Ross consular services in the UK and they do all the dirty work for me. (google it)
you will need a letter of invitation and the AIDS cert a photo. The company you are going to work for should be able to do all this for you and even pay for the Ross consular services.
It only takes a week to 10 days from sending my passport off by DHL to getting it back.
sorry couldn't be of more help with the Yellow Tabien Bahn thing

I have just opened a contract with 3 BB after using AIS and limited to 30gb a month.
I heard many good reports with 3BB but having both at the moment I can see a big difference.
AIS is stable and consistent.
3BB is up and down like a yo yo. I have the 5mb/min for 590 bhat a month and its not living up to its claims.
very disapointed. I think complaining is the only solution.
