and I used his offerings on the old X7

My bandwidth does not allow streaming so I mainly play video from a hard disk, up to 2Tb in size

Does any one have Kodi running with DTS passthru functioning properly

It used to work back in the XMBC days, but on Kodi 15 and 16

all I get is a nasty buzz from my amp in passthru mode

It did raise an odd quirk with my Kindle

It would not connect to my wifi........

I have the channel set as 13 and apparently Kindle does not like that.

A change to a lower number and all was well.

Back at the start of January I signed up with Netflix to try the service during the Free Month offered.

I had to give credit card details and chose to use PayPal

With my poor internet connection the service was unworkable, so I cancelled after one week

and this was acknowledged by Netflix

Imagine my surprise to find that my account had been debited for the "free month" of january

I raised the matter with paypal and they agreed to a refund

However they also sent me an e-mail saying the refund was a "courtesy"..........

So check your account if you have signed up, to make sure you really got the Free month promised

I spoke too soon about my Minix Neo7, it has just died on me

So I am looking at the Minix Neo 8H-Plus but I am a little confused

The Minix site http://minix.com.hk/en/products/neo-x8-h-plus

says it has a Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A9r4 Processor

But the machine offered on AliExpress quotes a Quad Core Amlogic s812

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Good news for the Android TV box market

Check there are no plastic foam inserts to stop the discs moving in the box

I had a number of commercially stamped cd's that failed

All had the foam in the case

As stated above the life of cd and dvd is not what it was toted to be when first produced

All my video is now on hard disk, with a back up copy, of course.

It is a shame that Kodi have still not fixed the bug when using passthru for 5.1 sound

There is a known bug in Kodi on Android

where the sound cuts in just the way you describe

when Enable Passthru is selected on the Audio menu

The button allows digital audio to go straight to the AV amp for decoding

Perhaps this is what you are experiencing?

A good lesson for us all, to backup phone data regularly

The only warning I got was that Paragon Partition Manager 11 will not work with W10

Fair enough it is quite an old version

Acronis works perfectly

I backed up before the upgrade

and again afterwards so I have two recovery points if I need to go backwards.

The Vaio wireless problem can possibly be solved by downloading a new driver

IMHO MS did a pretty good job with W10 but they cannot be expected to cover

every device on older machines

I see W10 gives me some options such as transfering photos,

which I did not have in W7

Kies recognises the phone easily.

To me W10 is a good logical step up from W7

W8 was a mess up, just like Vista

I upgraded from w7 Pro to W10 Pro a week ago and got the latest version automatically

No need to bleed data on W10

Just turn off all the options that send you data out,

including Cortana.

I am enjoying the W10 experience

If you have a spare one, change the hdmi cable

They can go bad.

The TV should work straight out of the box.

As Crossy says, just plug in the hdmi cable from the set top box and off you go

My Minix Neo 7 is going strong

The boxes on sale in Bangkok will have come from China anyway

and will carry a premium on their cost.

The latest versions do upscale to 4K for the latest TV.s

I use Neutron on my phone

Kodi on the Android Player

as Neutron does not recognise external disks

Both play FLAC without any difficulty, up to 192bps

I good back up before any such moves is always a good idea

but I guess you are backing up every week anyway??
