  1. For all the mafia cleaning up in Phuket over the last 12 months, it seems all is back to normal with the taxi mafia.

I have visited Phuket twice in the last 2 months, and the amount of taxis and their touts has doubled. Patong beach road and Rat U Thit road are jammed with taxis, not one parking spot. As you walk out of your hotel, along any road and all around Jungceylon the taxi touts are there hassling every visitor.

Was this clean up a flash in the pan, a show that the army was going to take on a few people and make Phuket a better experience for the tourist. It shows the mafia is more powerful than the General!

  3. I use Agoda to book most of my hotels for travel around Thailand and Asia.

Occasionally I will write reviews of the hotels, mainly because they were either good or bad. In the last couple of weeks, I had to write a couple of negative reviews, and they have not published them.

Have I been duped into thinking the reviews on Agoda were reliable because they were made by people that actually stayed there unlike Trip Advisor. Are they protecting the hotels rather than their customers.

I have sent them an email asking and still awaiting a response.

  4. In Chiangmai Ristr8to is by far the best express in town, the place is always packed from early mornings. In case anyone ventures around in Phuket, Coffee Lab on Surin main road comes second.

I wish there were more baristas and entrepreneurs opening up Good coffee places like these.

  5. Does anyone here actually think that a Security Guard Job in Thailand has any kind of screening for the people employed?? This is one of the lowest paid jobs in Thailand and the guys who work these shifts does not care if they loose the job, just get another one around the corner or sweep floors, sell brooms or whatever....it is the same shitty pay.

You are obviously referring to local security companies. International ones in Thailand will do criminal record screening and pay the minimum wage which for 12 hours work per day equals to 15,000 baht per month.

  6. LKY achieved what most Asian leaders would dream of. However he was an autocratic leader with no nonsense when it came to political rivals. Today Singapore is still autocratic, a one party state, no freedom of the press and little freedom of expression for its people.

LKY did admit to some of his harsh tactics in later life. RIP
