  1. I'm quite suprised that until now nobody has shown any genuine interest on this bike.

    The bike is still AVAILABLE.

Price reduce to very low 11,000 baht.

Haven't ride it for quite a long time, and it is sitting in the drive way.

I would say that the new owner will need to do some work to make it run great, namely gasket and seal replacement.

I dont check TV quite often so anybody interested can contact me in [email protected] or call 0858351431.

    Local pick-up only....no EMS sending....no Overseas shipping.

The bike located in Prachinburi area.

dont know if above links are true but worth to check.

if you said no to the custom tax, you can decline it and submit an objection letter to custom office in bangkok. After that the items will be ship back to custom HQ and custom duty will be reviewed again there in your presence. This is the written custom law here.

This way you can ask the top level guys how to do the calculation. I don't recommend this cause it will consume tremendous alot of time and effort.

  3. few months back someone also ask similar questions regarding custom tax calculation. You might want to search it in the forum.

I'm not expert in this field, so i can't answer it.

Many years of buying from internet has thought me a good lesson on how to deal with custom duty tax here and few ways to get pass it.

For the items marked as "gift" question, the custom officers have been learning from their experience also.

Sent pm to the op for trial suggestion.

  4. I'm always buy from ebay since 2007. I've been through alot of suprises.

The general rule is all items above 1000 baht will get custom tax (in my case usually 600 baht). I don't know and i don't want to know how the calculate it. I have tried it several time asking the calculation but always get the answer "pay if you want it".

In the case of box 1 and box 2, i can say that you are lucky. Luck always play the part in the custom duty. They don't open/check everything that arrived from abroad and it also depends on the officer in charge; some officer is very flexible, some very strict.

Let me give you clear example what happen to me few weeks back. I bought 2 lot from ebay, first lot cost 200 usd, second lot cost 300 usd. The first lot was denied entry and being held at the custom (until now), second lot got through with custom tax of 2000 baht. Both are identical, different only in the amount.

Package marked "gift" will be inspected and will be charge custom duty if applicable. That is they do things here.

I always want to know if the receipient name is thai, what kind of tax they will get? just curious.

  5. NSR 150 sp proarm for sale.

I bought this bike 3 years ago as a junk bike. Spent nearly 20k to make it alive again.

The bike has 38K kms as of now, i use it for roughly 10k kms. has green book and paper in my name. Registered in prachinburi.

The bike history (in my possesion):

    1. Top end rebuilt; piston, ring and cyclinder rebore ( roughly 10k kms)

    2. Chain, back sprocket, front sprocket original from Honda ( roughly 9k kms)

    3. Brand new IRC tyre (back and front) standard honda ( roughly 200 kms)

    4. Front suspension rebuilt (change oil, seal, etc) all from honda (roughly 1K kms)

    5. Change all clutch plates, standard honda (roughly 1K kms)

    6. Change rear suspension to YSS (this one is for honda best) increase 5mm (roughly 1K kms)

    7. Change rear wheel bearing, standard honda ( roughly 200 kms)

and other small stuff that is difficult to remember.

This bike IS NOT perfect by any means, the fairings are cracked in some place, rust, scracths, etc and the electrical problem. The RC valve and motor in great condition ( check and clean by honda). The bike come with HAWK alarm system from UK ( i will give you the complete system, up to you if you want to install it all).

Asking price 20k (nego). Test drive when you give me the money.

    Best regards,

    Erik.

  6. i know few bike mechanics near me. Yes, they assumed that we want what thai people want "cheap repair".

I recommend to fix it yourself if you know how or contact good mechanic. In my case, i contact one of honda mechanic to work part time in my home, i pay for his time and i can decide what i want. The best so far for me.

Leaking fuel line?? is it from the dump line or the inlet line? my 2stroke had this problem with the dump line, turn out the float neddle can't close properly resulting in overflowing.

    Cheers.

  7. this is the tragic story that filled my life.

15 years back, i knew a guy, we weren't friend, we just knew each other. his dad run a small factory within the premises of his house. one day, his dad fired one of the employee in the factory. That night, the empolyee went back to the factory and set it a blaze... burn down the factory, the house and with my friend sister that sleeping inside.

Few years after that, my friend and I were discussing about a recent suicide regarding one girl we knew. She was 16, average score in school, with a rough life. She killed herself by drinking insecticide.

The most recent i can remember is the most crazy story i ever heard. At that time, me and my friends was hanging out while eating lunch. Few minutes after that one of my friend came back with blood on his hand and clothes....we all stand up and ask what happened. He said there had been a murder in the nearby building. The story went like this: "The murder happened at the 8th floor, inside a bathroom. The killer walked inside, cut the neck of the victim and then walked to the lift and go down to the first floor and dissappear. There were a lof of people inside and outside of the building at that time, i remember it clearly. Nobody saw a thing. My friend (the guy with blood on his clothes) said at that time he was on the 8th floor. He heard the commotion and rushed to the scene, hold the hand of the victim and try to contact the ambulance. But the ambulance never come, so he and several other people carried the victim using his car to the hospital. The victim died in his car."

    All true story.

  8. I'm addressing this question for all TV member who know or might experience it yourself.

    1. What right does a foreigner have in thailand?

    2. What to do when suddenly police show up at your house?

    3. Do they need a search warrant for searching vehicle or property?

    4. Or all is up to the BIB ?

No story behind it, i just want to know.

    Cheers.

    :jap:

  9. you didn' pay any tax when buying from amazon as stated with other poster.

The normal law for international custom postal is above 1500 baht they will charge you tax, the amount of tax depends on the item.

When i bought books from amazon, they ussually separate it into several package to avoid tax, it all depends.

not rip-off from my point of view, the law here is like that.

  10. i used to sell used watches of any good brand, and website is not recommended.

there is a club for watch lover in thailand, i forget the name (main languange is thai).

The best bet is to contact watch repair service and ask if he can sell them for you. (they know more people than you for sure).

Offtopic, what brand and model of your watch, maybe i know someone who want it.

    Best regards,

    Erik.

  11. I just go through alot of people in the custom regarding this, at one point where i got the handphone no of bangkok custom person in charge. He also mentioned that regardless of the value, i still need to get a import permit for it. He just don't understand why the officer in aranyaprathet didn't inform him when they refused the package.

Anyhow, the information i have, the package will be held for 2 months until further development come up and afterthat will be auction or destroyed not re-send it back as she informed me.

The priceless information that heavy package or oversized package will be directed to the custom house instead of paying tax. (i will keep that in mind next time).

ps: i have a lot of friends.....me and the missus

pss: i already offered it to the officer when they check the package infront of me, they said no

pss: i forgot to mention this, i was waiting there with one thai lady also received package from the US. i took a glance and her package was filled with large bottles of vitamin ( i count roughly 15). They let her out paying tax of 4k baht without even the need to called somebody.

Lesson learned and will be use for another day.

    Thx for the comment.

  12. Dear TV members,

Let me share one story regarding thailand custom department and please let me know your opinion on this or if you have done it, may share it with me.

I'm frequent online buyer whether abroad (e-b*y) or local, ranging from little stuff to medium stuff.

Usually the post office will either send the pink slip or the green paper for international package.

The pink slip means that i need to go to post office and pick it up (along with ID), the green one is where tax need to be paid.

On most occasion with the green paper, i need to pick it up at my nearest post office and pay the tax written there. No problem so far until last week, where i received green paper where i need to go to the nearest custom house. I lived in prachinburi and the nearest custom house is aranyaprathet which is almost 2 hours journey.

Anywho, i went there this morning with the hope that i just need to pay the tax. Departed from home at 7.30am arrived there 9.30 (roughly). Gave the green paper to the officer there and sit on the waiting area. She came back with the package and the following procedure is the one i would like to ask TV members.

    1. she ask for my ID and copy it (Normal for me)

    2. she sit infront of me and opened the package infront of me (still normal)

    3. she was suprised with the items inside, i just ordered 100 mixed make-up for giveaway to friends

    4. she went to the chief room and discussed privately

    5. and then she called one person from other department (later i found out that it was "food and drug department" or something along the way)

    6. I politely reply all the question : what you going to do with it? i said to give away, etc

    7. and then they decided that the package CAN'T be given to me and need to be send it to the sender

I asked them why?, they said that because the items are over 100, i need to get a import permit even if the value under 40K baht.

Let me quote sentence from the custom website:

"The Customs officers will pass the postal items to Thailand Post to keep in the cargo. Thailand Post will issue “Notification to collect international postal items” and send to the consignees stated on the package. The consignees will have to take “Notification to collect international postal items” to Postal and Airport Customs Service Division or the Customs House stated in the notification and follow the customs formalities in order to receive the goods. The customs formalities for the goods of Group 3 can be done in 2 ways. 1. If the value of goods exceeds 40,000 baht, the consignee is required to make an Import Declaration Form through the paperless system. 2. In case the value of goods does not exceed 40,000 baht, the Customs officer will then collect the duties and issue a receipt. The consignee is not required to make an Import Declaration Form.

The value of those items are printed on the usps slip along with the shipping price (75USD plus 48USD shipping).

May please share your thought on these.

    Best regards,

    Erik.

  13. remind me of my past experience of bike theft, you can search the old post for it.

The thieft tried to do the same with my nsr sp with only 5 m away from the security guards.

    My solution is :

    1. alarm, buy a good one with motion sensor and immobilizer switch (dont buy the microwave sensor, it's annoying)

    2. good padlock in the disc (i bought big thick solo brand)

Both are just to delay the thief (there won't be perfect solution unless you remove the wheel)

  14. i second that " Don't buy it if you can't see or use try it first"

In one point in my life, i was a second hand camera seller.

Tips for buying second hand camera (my experience) :

    1. Check the outer body, look for scracth, ding, etc . Heavy scratch or ding indicate that the owner didn't take proper care or the age is too old

    2. Check the shutter blade

    3. Check the functions

    4. Bring your own lens when you buy body only (one time i got cheated by this). Check if it can operate with the lens

    5. Check the pixel when buying digital (dead pixel, dirt, etc)

    6. Do your research for the asking price

    7. One final point, check for the screw surrounding the camera. If the screw show some wear, it might be that it has been open before for some reason

    Cheers.

  15. during my learning days, my teacher always emphasize that "always start with basic", "camera is just a tool and the person that make it great".

D70 is good camera in overall, i saw one up for sale for 10k baht with kit.

Don't worry about the cost in learning photography, it is low cost in the beginning and will get very high if your daughter really go for it.

The stuffs needed for learning (according to my experience):

    1. good camera and lens, if you buy it without lens you can buy other brand for it (sigma, tamron, etc); it's cheaper that OEM

    2. Tripod, buy standard one. you don't need manfroto or other heavy type (profesional one). just standard one is ok ( i recommend SLIK brand)

    3. Good flash. Yes, D70 come with built-in flash but it is not enough for learning. OEM is expensive, so buy other brand as long the TTL function is there and with good GN number (GN 30 or 40 is enough)

    4. Plenty of books to read......this is important to develop that photography sense and learn which is good pic and composition.

One thing to keep in mind that photoshop is a NO NO during the learning phase.

    Cheers.

  16. my rule when fixing something "always start with the easiest first"

    1. replace the plug if black , B9ES or BR9ES

    2. Adjust the air neddle in the carb, do it patiently

    3. Empty the engine oil and replace with good one. if the oil is black perhaps long time not change or the clutch is gone

    4. de-choke the exhaust. no need to cut it, 2 ways as far as i know. use blow torch or soak it in diesel oil overnight (separate between the silencer and main exhaust)

    If still can't :

    1. perhaps the ICM is busted, expensive to replace (2000-3000 baht)

    2. when idle, engine make rattle noise (like some bolt stuck in the piston), piston and ring is gone

    3. check fuel consumption, is it normal? roughly 18-22km/l. If not, piston and ring clearance is gone

    4. Last solution is to take out the engine, and check one by one

edit: normal position for the neddle carb is 3 from top. idle should be 1400rpm, adjust the air neddle and idle

  17. petrol treatment is very difficult to find here, so forget about it.

When you want to start your bike for the first time after long period of storage, you need to open the drain line (one bolt under the carb) in order to empty the carb.

For the battery, just take it out and place it somewhere else. Buy battery charger (150 baht) and charge it when you get back.

  18. Nobody mechanical or experienced with using petrol additives on a small motorbike?

I'm so mechanical that if I turn the handle and the bike doesn't move forward, it's broken rolleyes.gif

as it has a steel tank, it should be left with full tank petrol. No gasohol as it may separate within few weeks.

Most efficient is to close fuel valve and run engine until carb is empty and engine thus stops

    Agree with the above.

You dont really need to empty the carb, just dont forget to open the drain line before you start it.

5 months is not that long, keep it cover and in close area.

You can find one chemical they use for snowbike, "fuel conditioner" they called to keep the fuel fresh, but i doubt you can find it here.

    From my experience :

    1. fill up the gas

    2. keep it cover and in close area

    3. Open the drain line in the carb when return

    4. empty the whole tank if you can and fill it with fresh gasoline

  19. sprayed my total exhaust system with rustloeum spray high temp paint twice so far, the bottles came in 2 colors, silver and green. I tried both, the green one proof better. Now, its almost 2 years and no sign of color change.

price is roughly 400-500 baht. remember to clean it before painting.

rustoleum is very easy to find.
